The obscene amounts of racism and facism being shown here in the UK right now is terrifying. Like I am so convinced people are gonna die. But. At the end of the day, the EDL and their supporters are the minority. They've always existed but have been too embarrassed to promote it much and now that they have their chance, they are up against a government who fucking hates them (for good reason obviously). There are only 5 people with legislative power (minimal at that) who can or will help them (and that would destroy the mps) and perpetrators are being arrested and tried, fast.

The media, as always, is an issue. But people are not so easily manipulated (unless they already have been, of course). This is not gonna gain them more support. People are seeing this violence in front of them as they go outside into their own towns. People are seeing their poc friends and family scared to go outside. People are seeing groups and workplaces issuing warnings to be careful near their homes. And people are going against these "protestors", turning up to counter rallies, reminding the fascists to be embarrassed. Coming together to clean what they shouldn't have to and to protect eachother.

It's not hopeless. It is terrifying. But it's not an irreversible situation. It's not the end.
