If you’re suicidal yourself, don’t ever call or rely on the police. I done it once, this is what happens (if you’re lucky you’re not killed)

they’ll arrive, it’s always two of them. they’ll forcefully take you out of the house, put you face down on the ground, handcuff you, tell you your rights, and sit you outside. keep in mind that I was having a panic attack which makes it worst, in broad daylight, with people crowding around. they don’t care what you’re going through. they say the handcuffs are for your safety (a lie)

they take around 30mins- 1hr just standing around looking at paperwork. as someone with bipolar disorder and on the autistic spectrum, this is fucking terrible. they humiliate you as they put on gloves to check if you have weapons. they treat you as if you just killed someone even though I wanted help since I was suicidal. the next step is they just grab your arm and toss you into the backseat of the cop car

now the ride to the station isn’t much. they don’t say anything and rarely ask if you’re okay or ask about medication. again, they don’t care. when you get to the station, they fingerprint you, take pictures, then just lock you up in a cell with just you. you’re still in handcuffs. they don’t give you food or water. they also don’t notify your legal guardians of where you are. you don’t get a phone call.

it’s been a few hours or it feels that way. you don’t know since you can’t tell the time and the cops haven’t said much. just check in awhile to see if your alive. then after it feels like forever, there is a caseworker who then does paperwork to send you to a mental institution where you stay for around a week.

I was lucky that I wasn’t having a severe maniac episode (since they took about 20mins to get to where I was). honestly though, don’t ever ever call the cops
