Couple + Sibling/relative third wheel is honestly an S-tier trio dynamic and I wish we saw more of this in media.
"You are my soulmate. We are forged together by battle and tears and love. Also my brother's coming along."
"Yo."
Bonus points if the non-related half of the couple is just as committed to keeping the third wheel around as the related half.
"Isn't it weird that your brother in law is always hanging around?"
"You've got a problem with Andrew?"
Peak Cinema, really
So apparently copper thieves are targeting AI Data Centres and nicking all the supplies.
Ea Nasir... is that you? Have you come back to save us all?
Investigators recovered two stolen trailers carrying $1.3 million in data center supplies, including copper wire and infrastructure equipmen
I love seeing list memes where someone makes a "le cool people vs le cringe" and they obviously skew it so they barely scrape by into the cool kids club
You just KNOW this dudes 5'11"
I'm 5'11, but in most casual conversations I'll say I'm 5'9. I do this purely for the chaos that it creates. Because everyone assumes that men only exaggerate their height up, it makes me look like the only person honestly describing their height and thus knocks at least 2 inches off everyone else's description. The panic that the 6'1 guys feel at the thought of being described as 5'11 is hard to understate. I have had people run back to their cars to grab tape measures. If I could get away with describing myself as 4'6 I would.
you are the diametrical opposite of the aforementioned guy. you are a demigod walking among mortals
Okay, I need to rant about something that irks me in the Witch Hat Atelier fandom, if that’s okay.
Okay, so. The Anime is out now and it’s amazing and beautiful and suddenly there’s a big inrush of new fans, which is great because the story is amazing and I’m happy so many other people are enjoying it not only because it means the artist gets recognized for all her hard work, but also because there’s been this big in rush of new fan content, like fanfics and fan art.
And one of the big fan art things is using the magic system to make and draw out unique spells.
And people have been doing some weird stuff with it. Like writing spells for Nuke, Male Pregnancy, and Boil Blood.
And there’s this joke going around the fandom that the witches are right to keep magic secret if that’s the stuff that people are going to make.
And, I realize this is a joke, (I’ve made this same one ever since I saw all these homemade spells too) but I think this idea of “most people will make the most awful thing imaginable if the Witch Hat magic system was real” are missing a fundamental piece of the picture.
Yes, many people in the internet have made some truly terrifying or downright strange spells using runes from a fictional series, but they’ve done that because it’s just that. Fictional. It’s a thought experiment, a way to take simple building blocks to see what you can make with zero real world consequences.
Yes, if the Magic system was real, some people would go on to do absolutely AWFUL things with it. But (and this might be my inner hopepunk talking) in my experience, most people are fundamentally kind, or at least not actively malicious.
Saying that witches are right to gatekeep magic based on the runes that people make as a stress-reducing hobby, (and yes, I realize most of these arguments are based on the modern internets culture of dark humor) reminds me a lot of the alarmist narratives about “violent” video games.
Just because someone picks up a controller and goes a little murder hobo in Call of Duty or Baulders Gate 3 after a stressful day, doesn’t mean that if you place a real AK-47 in their hands they’re going to shoot their neighbors for shits and giggles. One is consequence free fun. The other is murder.
Witch Hat is so good because it poses complicated questions and challenges you to think deeply about why different rules are in place, encouraging you to challenge the reasons behind power structures and how to build something better from a flawed system, and I think that reducing it too “The Witches are right to gatekeep power because the average person would do terrible things with it” based on runes people made for fun, fully aware that their creations could never actually harm anyone is a disservice to the story and the impact it has had on so many people, myself included.
Anyway, sorry for the novel, I just feel strongly about this (clearly 😅).
I'm very proud of my countrymen for introducing America to the world of the proper football chant.
None of this cheerleader stuff for soccer, oh no sireee, I mean, no disrespect to cheerleaders who put a LOT of work and effort into their performances, but somehow "Rah-Rah! We're the best" from peppily gymnastic young things can't quite match the sheer power of entire stadiums of grown up fans yelling at the top of their lungs things like....
It's unclear if this one originated with the English of Scottish games (spelling of "old" as "auld" notwithstanding), but either way, well done.
And it's striking home too! :D
Sportsball holds no interest for me, but that doesn't mean I can't respect the participation aspects sometimes.
One of the things I love about the Ember Island Players is that by trying to make fun of the possibility of romance between Zuko and Katara in the play-within-a-play, the show actually introduces Zutara as text into the world of the show, particularly in Fire Nation pop culture.
Like, there's this widely-advertised production that shows the Fire Prince and the Southern waterbending master falling in love. Then, probably the next thing the gen pop hears about their future Fire Lord is that he's jumped in front of his sister's lightning to save this same girl's life, doing absolutely nothing to beat those allegations.
There's just no way the gossip mill isn't churning. It's too juicy.
Not to mention, a lot of people would probably assume he left during DOBS to be with Katara. They’d turn it into some kind of Romeo and Juliet narrative—how he just couldn’t stay away any longer and had to go back to her.
Poor Mai likely heard those rumors too, which could explain why she was especially pissed during The Boiling Rock. After all, Zuko’s literally risking everything to break that girl’s father out of prison.
Whether they mean to or not, Zuko and Katara’s actions only add fuel to the fire throughout the show. The servants and guards also probably heard about the Agni Kai and the scar he got on his chest, expecting he would die, and the rumors just went wild from there.
And what’s worse! They can’t even deny it because it’s objectively all true.
Reporter: Fire Lord! The people want to know, is it true you have a scar on your chest from jumping in front of lightning to save Southern Water Tribe Princess Katara during the Agni Kai with your sister?
Zuko: Yes…
Reporter: Follow up, how long have you been in love with her?
Zuko: What?!?!
Reporter: We’ve heard reports you broke into Boiling Rock Prison with the express purpose of freeing her father from wrongful imprisonment. Is that true?
Zuko: Yes… Wait-
His lack of social competence doesn’t help…
Wait, that part about people thinking that Zuko went with Katara after DOBS is so cool!
Thank you! I think it would be totally in character for Zuko to only realize his feelings through others.
Zuko: All of these things are completely untrue! Just because I (insert all events because I’m too lazy to write out all of them because there are just that many) doesn’t mean… Holy shit! I’m in love with Katara!
Toph: Was this news?
Holy crap this idea is awesome
Zuko just wants advice he can understand.
(Modern AU????? IDK)
@redemptionarcz you didn’t think you could hide this gem in the tags did you?
Zuko: Teapots are hot up to their neck and they still yet sing? *sweating*
Katara:….
Zuko: *Glances to Iroh giving two thumbs up*
Katara: I just don’t understand what you are saying.
Zuko: The leaves fall off the tree yet the branch remains? *About to pass out*
Katara: *Completely confused*
Iroh: PLAY THE INSTRUMENT! *Zuko pulls out a flute*
Katara: ….
Suki: Should we help them?
Toph: And miss out on this? HELL no.
*Horrible music later*
Katara: *Is just completely baffled no longer angry* I think I want to date him.
Suki: Why?
Toph: Its the morosexual thing isn’t it?
Katara: *watching as Zuko does some sort of dance with iroh cheering from the sidelines* Maybe.
katara: *sees zuko practice talking to a frog*
katara: i am in love with him
the cutest , most awkward and dumb but adorable turleduck award goes to zuko
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
Spy x Family is fundamentally an adoption story.
Obviously Anya is adopted. We all know this. She knows this. She loves her family but knows it is incredibly fragile.
But unlike most adoption stories (say Natsume Yuujinchou) Anya is not adopted into a loving functional family who's main goal is to support and love her until she heals from all the hurt she has been through.
Because Everyone in their family is adopted.
Yor enters thinking she is entering an existing family dynamic of a man and his daughter. She is the step mother, eagerly wanted but a definite outsider. She does not know about how they lost Loid's first wife. They both Never mention her but Anya clearly has Huge feelings about her Mommy that she cannot touch. Because Loid refuses to acknowledge her. Which means she's not allowed to.
She's a wife brought in to solve a problem. The fact she adores Anya and loves Loid (eventually) doesn't make her any less of an outsider from her perspective. To Yor she's the adopted family member.
Meanwhile Loid, the one who brought them all together almost instantly finds himself on the outside of the family. He works too much and doesn't make it home for dinner frequently. He struggles to connect with his 'daughter' and wife. Can't understand either of them despite constant efforts. Something incredibly distressing for him.
Yor instantly connects with this child when he struggled to hold her hand in public. In his eyes Yor and Anya are a family and he is the outsider only there for the mission. The man who is destined to Not be there. He too often fills the role of the outside child brought into a happy family. One he constantly feels he is fumbling or failing. (If I'm not good, if i'm not perfect- my family will leave me. So I have to be. I have to figure out how to be better)
They are a family of adopted members all holding so tightly to each other. Each one of them chooses the others over and over again. Struggles against their own limitations and fears to be a part of a family they're all terrified to really call their own.
But it is that choice that makes them a family. Not blood or marriage or any certificate. That they all keep trying to be a family to the others. I'll be a good girl and study hard Papa. I'll be a good wife, I'll play my role well so don't abandon me. I'll be a good father and husband, I will try to be a good husband and father if you both will just stay with me. Please. I will figure out how.
Spy x Family is an adoption story.
Anya Forger is going to be a terrifying adult.
She studies in an elite class for children two years older than her and she lives with loving parents (a spy and an assassin), with complete access to their minds.
She'll learn some moves from her mother and espionage tactics from her father, whether he knows it or not.
Anya will become a person full of the most random abilities and family histories that would make any normal person think she was raised in a circus or a cult.
Day 298#: Barbu d'Anver
Today's animal of the day is the Barbu d'Anvers breed of domestic chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus)!
Also known as the Antwerp Belgian or Belgian Bearded d'Anvers, this Belgian breed of chicken is what's known as a true bantam breed. While nowadays, many breeds of chicken are often referred to as bantams, all true bantams are descended from a handful of small chicken breeds native to Southeast Asia. Most of these ancestral breeds originate from islands, such as those of Indonesia, and are super small compared to mainland chickens due to insular dwarfism. This is the evolutionary trend that causes animals on islands to become smaller than their mainland counterparts due to a lack of food and space. The tiny size of these chickens also made it easier for them to be kept on ships, and so they became very popular with sailors, which caused them to be imported all across the world.

The Barbu d'Anvers is believed to have been created sometime during the 1800s, with the oldest mention of this breed dating back to 1858. In addition to their miniature stature, other characteristics of this breed include fluffy feathers on their chins that form a "beard", a small rose-shaped comb, and either super small or non-existent wattles. They are only really kept as pets or as show birds, since they don't have a lot of meat on them and lay small eggs. There are 29 distinct color variants of this breed that are recognized by chicken shows in Belgium, plus six more that are only formally recognized in Germany (for some reason). These colors include: black, buff, mottled, blue quail, porcelain, white, cuckoo, and many more.

While Belgium has several different breeds of bantam chickens, the Barbu d'Amvers stands out as the only one of these breeds not to be endangered. Many historic breeds of livestock, especially those that don't really serve an agricultural purpose, are at risk of going extinct since people don't really breed ornamental livestock as much as they did back in the day. However, the Barbu d'Anvers remains popular in countries such as Belgium, France, Germany, and even in certain circles in the United States. It probably helps that this breed is pretty good at incubating and raising their own chicks. I know certain breeds tend not to be the best moms and will refuse to incubate their own eggs.
It feels cool to be "in" on celebrity gossip before anyone else. I ran into Californian Condor V9 and looked her up on the condor lookup website. It says her current mate is dead and she has no kids but I saw her with a new man AND a juvenile.
OP I hope you don't mind but I made a tabloid cover out of this
I used two more condor photos by Andrew Orr and Alam Clampitt from peregrinefund.org
Gotta use the skills I learned from making tabloids out of the Jane Austen novels somewhere right?
Great, now I feel like I'm bird shaming. Congrats V9 on your new family!
This is art to me
amazing. SF Gate has this gem but I like yours better 🤣
Si If you like Zutara, especially because of the Yin and Yang concept... I recommend the KDrama; Moon Lovers. The CDramas; Love Between Fairy and Devil, Pursuit of Jade, Till the end of the moon, The Untamed. Or again the animated film; Rain Children.
Drawover Mucha. Again. I saw this piece and was like, this is Riyo and Fox. And then I got carried away.
@eobe @eclec-tech @lonewolflupe @ghostymarni
Idk where this came from tbh just felt like sharing my Foxiyo angst with the world 🫡
(I may have sketched this whole thing out before realizing that *that part* with Vader and Fox takes place on a ship, not on the ground… forgive me)
((Also please ignore any weird crops. I blame Tumblr’s image compression habits))
a honest question, you zutara fans really like the idea of katara as fire lady (ruling the nation responsible for her tribe's violence) which is funny because somehow zuko giving up his throne to join the water tribe is never part of the conversation since that wouldn't be romantically appealing right? it's almost like the royalty angle only meant to serve him and katara is just his accessory
Nothing more shall be said on the matter.
