there’s something so embarrassing about all the cast members in the new harry potter series that are openly being like “i want everyone to know i don’t agree with jk rowling’s views on trans people” like they think that will make up for them being on the show. maybe it’s just for the sake of their own consciences but it reads as “i know her views and actions harm people but i’m in it for the paycheck”. it’s not like this is just an adaptation of rowling’s work without her involvement, she is an executive producer on the show 😭 at that point just don’t say anything

You’re drunk to the point of feeling nauseated, is it worse to have to

1 - walk home 15 minutes with friends helping you out and stopping as often as you need (if at all)

2 - have a friend drive you home 15 minutes with another friend helping you and they stop the car as often as you need (if at all)

I get the feeling most people would prefer being driven but I get so nauseated in the car even when sober and feeling well that being in the car while even a little tipsy feels so horrible to me. Curious how many people are in the same boat

Those rectangles are archive binders for Aku Ankka, the Finnish-language Donald Duck comic magazine.

Each binder has room for all issues from a single year, meaning that shelf seems to be 21 years worth of comics. A respectable collection indeed.

#I simply must point out that you can fit half a year’s weekly issues in each binder #so this is a decades worth #I have a couple of decades of akkari back at my parents and they take a lot of space

Bacteria do have souls, but binary fission doesn’t produce new souls 99% of the time, so most single celled organisms share these sprawling souls that just get bigger every time they divide. Over time they compact down into these big mats of soul get compacted into geological layers that gradually accrete to the world soul. Sexual reproduction creates new souls but they’re much shorter lived as a result, and rarely make it into the bedrock, so most of the world spirit is from the Proterozoic.

but do viruses have souls?

No. Some people think that this is because viruses have no metabolism and can’t reproduce on their own, and therefore do not qualify as life. In fact it is just because they are too small. Pneumatons, the constituent particle of soul, have a wavelength of about 1 micrometer, and so can’t be contained in cell membranes or protein envelopes smaller than that. This also means the smallest bacteria also don’t have souls. This includes mitochondria and their immediate ancestors, which was a major impetus for their symbiosis with eukaryotes in the first place. The eukaryote cell got a source of energy, and in return the mitochondria finally got to directly apprehend a portion of divine eternity.

but ykw at least i'm not on mount everest. at least i'm not paying tens of thousands of dollars to slowly suffocate in a 300-person line at the gates of hell. never in my life will i have to be steered in a hypoxic stupor through the maze of poop and corpses atop mount everest. on this earth a lot of horrible things can happen to you without your permission but there are a few that you have to opt into. you can just say no thanks! and be guaranteed never to have to be on mount everest. much to be grateful for actually
