Once women start doing a job, “It just doesn’t look like it’s as important to the bottom line or requires as much skill,” said Paula England, a sociology professor at New York University. “Gender bias sneaks into those decisions.”

She is a co-author of one of the most comprehensive studies of the phenomenon, using United States census data from 1950 to 2000, when the share of women increased in many jobs. The study, which she conducted with Asaf Levanon, of the University of Haifa in Israel, and Paul Allison of the University of Pennsylvania, found that when women moved into occupations in large numbers, those jobs began paying less even after controlling for education, work experience, skills, race and geography.

And there was substantial evidence that employers placed a lower value on work done by women. “It’s not that women are always picking lesser things in terms of skill and importance,” Ms. England said. “It’s just that the employers are deciding to pay it less.”

A striking example is to be found in the field of recreation — working in parks or leading camps — which went from predominantly male to female from 1950 to 2000. Median hourly wages in this field declined 57 percentage points, accounting for the change in the value of the dollar, according to a complex formula used by Professor Levanon. The job of ticket agent also went from mainly male to female during this period, and wages dropped 43 percentage points.

The same thing happened when women in large numbers became designers (wages fell 34 percentage points), housekeepers (wages fell 21 percentage points) and biologists (wages fell 18 percentage points).

Are radfems and radleaningfems on here actually talking and caring about trans people too much OR is this the only platform we can share our gender critical views without our accounts being nuked?

I know from my own personal experience that I post a lot about trans people because I can actually vent my frustration and share my gender critical views here. I can find like-minded women easier than I can on TikTok etc.

I can share other radfem views and talking points on other platforms (and I do) but views of a gender critical nature get me banned, doxxed and penalised.

And I'd like to bet that is the case for other radfems on this platform.

Absolutely! My biggest political concern is easily the environment and countering global warming. But there are already so many people - especially other young people - rightfully speaking out that I just don’t see the point in posting about it on tumblr.

Global warming, the pitfalls of for-profit healthcare, and other hot-button topics are being loudly fought for by the working and middle classes even with elites attempting to suppress concerns. Gender critical fighting points are only being talked about by a tiny minority, and they are suppressed by both elites AND the lower classes. It’s easy to see why one would be more active in discussing the latter than the former.

Something that absolutely makes me want to tear people to shreds with my teeth is thinking about how women's health is just not a priority in medicine.

1 in 10 women of childbearing age have PCOS.

Yet it's not considered important at all. It's hardly researched. Many women who suffer from this go undiagnosed for years. They are brushed off, ignored, not heard, or just put on birth control as if that's a cure-all. Even if someone with PCOS does get diagnosed the doctors don't even know everything there is to know about it.

Did you know that more than half of women with PCOS develop Type 2 Diabetes by the age of 40? Women with PCOS are often insulin resistant. Furthermore, many women with PCOS also have trouble with vitamin deficiencies, like vitamin D. And did you know that many women with PCOS also suffer from crippling fatigue?

Heart disease?

High blood pressure?

Again, one in ten women.

Can you imagine if one in ten men had PCOS? It would be the most well-researched condition on earth. Going to the doctor would mean that testing for PCOS is one of the first things they do. There would be awareness for PCOS. Treatments would be readily available and covered by health insurance. And so on.

But women are left to suffer because, why? The female body is just not considered important in medicine, yet it's the one people want to control the most. Almost half of the earth's population is female, yet our health is not a priority. If that doesn't make anyone want to go crazy, then I don't know what will.

Not only do 1 in 10 women have PCOS, but 1 in 10 women have endometriosis. This is a severely debilitating disease that can even kill you if left untreated and if it spreads to certain areas like your lungs.

Sooooo, I'm an itty-bitty bit confused. When did the terfs start calling themselves "gender critical". Like I'm so confused right now. You're not "gender critical" for saying that trans women are men and have no right to express their gender the same way many cis women do. Like no, our gender is not more based off of gendered products than the average cis woman's gender is. My mom has a collection of heels, and my dad says it's because she's a woman. But I've seen people who call themselves gender critical say that trans women doing the same are men dressing up and only base their gender off of stupid stereotypes. So, which is it? This isn't just an American issue, this is happening in Canada and Europe too. Nobody really stands for women anymore

Yeah, it's not just the democrats, left/centre-left parties across the western world are doing this. Which leads to my hypothesis that the reason gender ideology went from being a weird subculture most people knew nothing about to the centre of leftist politics over the course of the last 15 years or so is because it gave leftists a socially acceptable way to express hatred of women without having to explicitly align with the right.

I'm gonna get heat for this, but fuck the word pansexual. All it does is divide the LGBT+ community and allow bisexuals to be pinned as transphobic for being realistic about how biological sex works. I'm physically attracted to both sexes, not "all genders", don't you dare call me pan, it's just bi erasure, and in turn female erasure by pretending biological sex doesn't determine attraction.
