Is Trading Giancarlo Stanton Realistic?
Is Trading Giancarlo Stanton Realistic?
I am in a 12-team keeper league and currently have a 13 game lead over second place, and the trade offers come in daily. Normally I am the one sending offers to other teams, so I feel a little out of place reviewing all these offers. My philosophy in fantasy baseball has always been, if it ain’t broke don’t change it. Short, simple, sweet and easy to follow. Baseball is the ultimate test of…

Dynasty Sleepers: NFC North
Dynasty Sleepers: NFC North
Welcome back for the second installment of dynasty sleepers. This week I’m taking a look at those long term values in last year’s division of pure mediocrity, the NFC North. This was the only division last year to not have a double-digit win team. Green Bay won the division with eight wins. This division was, plainly and simply, ugly. Good thing team’s records don’t matter when it comes to…

FanDueLeague – Make the Odds be Ever in Your Favor – 7.10.14
Welcome back to the FanDueLeague! I spent the day in the hospital yesterday for some sort of unsolved head issue, so I may not remember writing this. If it sucks, hopefully you won’t remember it either. On this day in 1934, at the All-Star Game played in New York’s Polo Grounds, Giants pitcher Carl Hubbell faced a starting lineup comprised of nine eventual Hall of Famers. ‘King Carl’ was up to…

Happy Thursday everyone! We daily fantasy baseball addicts continue the grind tonight with eight games on the schedule that begin at 7:05 PM ET. Keep an eye on the weather forecast in Baltimore tonight; there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms ,and I know plenty of people will want to target a few hitters in that game.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice – Teams to Stack 7/10/14 Late Games
It’s the last getaway day before the All-Star break. As a disclaimer for today’s stacks – if you plan on using Clayton Kershaw without using a closer, stacking is not the way to go. You just need to fill out each position with the best values possible. However, there are still a few offensive stacks I like a lot, so let’s see what we can put together. As I usually do, I’m avoiding the early…

Daily MLB Draftstreet Picks – 7/10/14 Late Games
It is a happy Thursday indeed! Jacoby Ellsbury’s 14th inning HR last night not only propelled me to a nice night, but one of my twitter followers won the top prize in the $22 GPP yesterday. It’s like at a hot blackjack table when you and all your buddies are taking the house for hundreds and it’s just that much more fun. Today’s 12:35 start time for the first game has me ignoring the early…

Fantasy Relevant Team #14—San Diego Chargers
With excellent depth in the backfield and some intriguing targets in the passing game, there should be no shortage of Charger players on fantasy rosters this season. Fantasy Baseball Daily Starting Pitcher Streamers – Waiver Wire Options – Thursday 7/10/2014
Clayton Kershaw takes the rubber on Thursday, which pretty much means that if you’re facing him you’re in big trouble in WHIP and ERA since he hasn’t given up a run in his last four games now and rarely gives up hits now either. Fortunately, if you don’t have him theres a few studs that should be on the wire for you to grab Thursday, starting with a man I recommended last week who couldn’t have…

Fantasy Baseball Injury Report - Week 5
It’s been a frustrating start to the season if you’re hoping to have an ace pitcher carry your team. Strasburg is sitting there with an ERA over 5 and four of the other top eight pitchers coming into the season have missed time due to injuries. While it gives me something to do, it isn’t what anyone, you nor the pitchers themselves, want. Thankfully, Darvish is back, Kershaw is getting there, and Wainwright shouldn’t miss any time. Keep reading to see what’s happening with the rest of the league in this week’s Fantasy Baseball Injury Report.
Matt Wieters (C): Day-to-Day Healthy
MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli reports that Wieters (.321, 9 runs, 11 RBIs, 3 HRs) was able to make his way back into the lineup on Wednesday. He had missed the last two games with soreness in his forearm that occurred on Sunday against the Red Sox. Thankfully he’s back and can hopefully continue to play well for his owners.
Wilson Ramos (C): 15-Day DL
To be honest, I’m really looking forward to Ramos coming back. He seems to be here each week, and while I don’t need to focus on him, he keeps making good progress towards returning. Manager Matt Williams said, “He’s able to grip stuff and start to do some strength stuff. So it’s good. He’s right on schedule, maybe a little bit ahead, actually.” The estimate for his return is still mid-May, with a little more time to get his power back, but he’s worth grabbing from an impatient owner if you can afford to.
Mark Trumbo (1B): Day-to-Day
Trumbo has been dealing with a sore foot for the last few days and hasn’t been able to play. It’s unfortunate because he was starting to get out of the slump he had been in (3-27 from April 10th – April 16th) before having to take time off. He’s hitting .210 with 12 runs, 19 RBIs, and 7 HRs, so aside from the mediocre batting average he was doing alright. The Diamondbacks have not given much info about when Trumbo might return so stay patient. It could be as soon as Thursday.
Advice: If you’re stuck waiting on Trumbo to heal, a possible replacement could be James Loney (.302, 8 runs, 12 RBIs, 1 HR).
Kevin Kouzmanoff (3B): Day-to-Day
According to Evan Grants of the Dallas Morning News, Kouzmanoff had to leave Tuesday’s game with tightness in his back. It’s unfortunate because Kouzmanoff (.362, 8 runs, 12 RBIs, 2 HRs) had been playing pretty well filling in for Adrian Beltre before he got injured. The Rangers have the day off on Thursday so hopefully he’ll be good to go come Friday’s tilt. None of it could be very important as Beltre is supposed to be returning to the club on Friday against Seattle.
Advice: Matt Dominguez (.217, 7 runs, 9 RBIs, 4 HRs) or Alberto Callaspo (.297, 6 runs, 9 RBIs, 2 HRs) could be possible fillers if Kouzmanoff is out for an extended period of time and Beltre can’t come back for some reason.
Manny Machado (3B): 15-Day DL
Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports that Machado will be playing nine innings at third base in a minor game on Friday. We haven’t heard a specific date that he’s expected to return as of yet but it’s looking like early May. This is another individual that seems to be written about here each week. Just as we’ve been saying all along, if you can trade for him without giving up too much, go for it.
Michael Cuddyer (OF): 15-Day DL
Unfortunately, the Rockies placed Cuddyer (.317, 11 runs, 10 RBIs, 3 HRs) on the 15-Day DL Monday. “I can hit, I can throw, I can catch, obviously — and I can run, probably, 50-60 percent, but no more. It’s a minor strain in the tendon area, so we’ll see if I can get better,” said Cuddyer. An MRI revealed a minor strain in his tendon, thankfully not showing anything muscular. We’ll have to keep an eye on his progress during the next week to see if last year’s NL batting champ will be returning at the end of the 15 days.
Advice: Third baseman Nolan Arenado is moving up to 2nd in the batting order, taking Cuddyer’s spot, so more can be expected from him over the next week or so. If you’re looking to fill Cuddyer’s spot on your roster, though, Marcell Ozuna (.312, 12 runs, 10 RBIs, 3 HRs) might be available as well as Matt Joyce (.347, 10 runs, 10 RBIs, 2 HRs)
Adam Wainwright (SP): Day-to-Day
Wainwright suffered a hyperextended right knee in Tuesday”s game against the Mets. He has been lights out since the season started with a 3-1 record, a 1.46 ERA, and a WHIP of 0.81. It doesn’t get much better than that. For all of you freaking out over the injury, don’t. It appears he’s doing very well and might not miss his scheduled start on Sunday. He said after the injury, “I’ll be alright. Just give me a couple days and everything will be alright. I was very off balance as you could probably see. Everything is good. At first you feel a little scared, but as I walked off the field I knew I didn’t do anything wrong. All is good.” One always has to be careful when listening to a players diagnosis of themselves, but from what the rest of the league is saying, this isn’t a serious injury. The only concern I have is if he reinjures it while pitching in his next couple starts. We’ll keep you up to date if anything like that occurs so keep checking back.
Chris Sale (SP): 15-Day DL
A flexor muscle strain in his left arm forced Sale to the 15-day DL, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. White Sox GM Rick Hahn is assuming that the lefty will only be out for the 15 days he’s on the DL. At the moment, Cale is 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA and 27 strikeouts. He’s ranked 10th in the majors with a WHIP of 0.84 While it’s unfortunate that he’s going to be on the DL for the 15 days, his MRI came back without showing any ligament damage, and it isn’t believed he will miss more time than the DL requires. He last pitched on April 17th so he’ll be eligible to come off the DL around May 3rd.
Advice: Kyle Lohse (3-1, 2.67 ERA, 26 Ks) or Aaron Harang (3-1, 0.70 ERA, 22 Ks) might both be available if people haven’t been focusing as much as they should on the free agents in your league.
Clayton Kershaw (SP): 15-Day DL
Kershaw is looking to make a minor league start on Friday, according to team sources. Manager Don Mattingly said that Kershaw will need at least one more successful outing before he’d be ready to hit the big leagues again, but it seems that he’s within a few weeks of returning at this point.
Aroldis Chapman (RP): 15-Day DL
Aroldis Chapman threw batting practice on Wednesday and will throw another this weekend, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. This is his first action against live batters since being struck in the head with a line drive on March 21st. It looks as though Chapman is in line to return to the diamond in early May so keep your eyes open.
Thanks again for reading the Fantasy Baseball Injury Report. Hopefully, we will not be reading most of these names on this report in the coming weeks.

Fantasy Baseball Daily Starting Pitching Streamers April 24, 2014
Good Thursday morning to you Fantasy Baseball owner. Hope your team fared well on Wednesday. If you read yesterday’s Fantasy Baseball Daily Starting Pitching Streamer column you will remember I suggested you pick up Alfredo Simon. Let’s see how things went for us on Wednesday.
Name Opponent K’s ERA WHIP W/L Simon Pirates 4 2.70 1.35 W
Simon was shaky early and I thought we were going to be in trouble but thankfully he settled down, the Reds scored a few runs and we picked up the win. The counting numbers weren’t that bad either. Simon moves to 3-1 on the season and we move to 3-1 for the week. There isn’t much to choose from today but I do have one high risk play for you to consider.
Edwin Jackson SP Cubs: We’re looking for a widely available win opportunity and Jackson might be our guy today. He won his last time out and while this is a risky play the Cubs are playing at home against a struggling Diamondback offense. It might be worth a shot today. (Stats)
Good luck today Fantasy Owner!

"The Word On The Street" Value Plays 4/23/14
Happy Humpday to everybody and I also hope that most people have been excited about the level of play in the NBA playoffs so far as every team is laying it all on the line. I’m most excited for the game between the Rockets and the Blazers game tonight from Houston. The thing that I’m worried about is that on Monday the NBA said that Joel Freeland should’ve been called for a foul instead of Dwight Howard late in the game. Dwight may have not made the free throws but the call was made with 11 seconds. It wouldn’t shock me if the Rockets got a few extra calls tonight. Here are some value plays for leagues starting tonight and ending tomorrow.
1. Luis Scola- The Pacers tied the series with Atlanta last night as the venue moves to Atlanta for the next two games. The Pacers made some adjustments and Scola was a big adjustment as he came off the bench and provided a spark with 20 points and 7 rebounds in 19 minutes and could have a bigger role in the series if Roy Hibbert keeps doing his Jimmy Hoffa impersonation. He is listed at $6,515.
2.Tony Parker- Tony Parker was a frustrating player to own in seasonal leagues as he is injury prone and even if it’s not to serious coach Greg Popovich will hold him out for certain games and giving him rest days for the playoff stretch . In the playoffs Pop will unleash Parker and he is still capable of filling up the stat sheet. He finished game 1 with 34.50 fantasy points on Sunday and with 2 days of rest he could easy replicate that number at a great price of $12,796.
3.Danny Granger- I think Granger could be the sleeper punt option of the night as Doc Rivers is keeping the rotation that he went with during the season. Granger finished with 18.75 fantasy points in 18 minutes and could be the guy the DR. orders for a spark off the bench. He is listed at $6,115.
4. Tiago Splitter- Greg Popovich’s rotations are as difficult to decipher as hieroglyphics but he will stick to what has worked for him. Tiago Splitter’s role has been up and down this season but you have to figure he will continue to give him the same amount of playing time after performing well in game 1.He finished with 8 points, and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes which if u add it all up makes him a great value play at $9,660.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice - Teams to Stack 4/23/14
Well yesterday went well. The Tigers and Angels stacks went nuts as I thought they would, and I’m going right back to Detroit tonight against spot starter Andre Rienzo. We’ve got a shorter slate tonight since there were some day games, so watch lineups and weather closely.
An intro to my article: Like I do with basketball, I am going to build on our already great writers’ work and present a different spin in order to give our readers as much knowledge as possible. With baseball, I have found reasonable success in the art of stacking, which involves heavily loading up on hitters from one team. I believe this helps a great deal in baseball as hitters can actually benefit a lot from one another. There are so many players in the player pool that it can be difficult to weed out the values, so I focus my efforts on teams rather than players. There are two things I target when searching for teams to stack each night:
1) Opposing pitcher – If the pitcher is weak, it makes sense to target a group of hitters they’re facing.
2) Splits – I believe splits (lefty/righty, home/away) are the most important stat when it comes to picking daily players. In this article you will see me picking a lot of specific-handed groups of players due to either their success, the pitchers’ failure, or both.
Detroit Tigers hitters in general
The only issue here is that you’re not getting quite as much value as you did yesterday, since they were priced as if they were facing Chris Sale. Today they’re priced accordingly against Rienzo, so you’ll have to pay up for them. I think it’s well worth it though, as Rienzo has allowed a career .365 wOBA to RHB and .343 wOBA to LHB. Miguel Cabrera has a fantastic chance to homer again, and I like the idea of surrounding him with his counterparts in the lineup (Kinsler, Martinez, Hunter, AJax, etc.).
Cincinnati Reds left-handers
In this stack I am targeting ONLY left-handers because Charlie Morton is murder on righties but terrible against lefties (career .391 wOBA allowed). For that reason I am targeting Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, and Billy Hamilton in this game, but no others. Votto is particular is a great play at any price as he owns an astronomical .422 wOBA vs RHP in his career. Just don’t get sucked into the cheap prices of Brandon Phillips and Ryan Ludwick even if they have HR upside.
Toronto Blue Jays right-handers
Chris Tillman is a solid pitcher but has some serious reverse splits, allowing a .331 wOBA and 1.9 HR/9 to RHB. Those stats mean EXTREMELY high upside for the big Jays boppers. Jose Bautista has a career .356 wOBA vs RHP and a .380 wOBA at home. Edwin Encarnacion hit his first homer yesterday and I like him to hit another today. Brett Lawrie and Dioner Navarro round out your stack at cheaper prices.
VALUE STACK – Kansas City Royals left-handers
Their prices should be depressed since they face a tough pitcher in Justin Masterson, who is very adept at keeping the ball in the park. However, he is not very good against lefties, allowing a career .344 wOBA. The HR upside will be lower than you like, but these cheap lefties should be able to string some hits off him and hopefully complement each other with runs and RBI. In particular, I like Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, Nori Aoki, and Mike Moustakas.

Preview Of The 2014-2015 Fantasy Basketball Season
With the 2013 – 2014 season officially over and the 2014 NBA Playoffs under way, the entire attention of fantasy owners is pointed towards the next fantasy basketball season. Although most of you will be watching your favorite teams and players competing in the NBA Playoffs, if you really want to focus on your next season’s fantasy team, you should keep in mind some significant facts.
First of all, you shouldn’t allow yourself to get that much affected by the playoffs. You see, during the playoffs, some players might alter their respective performances, coaches change their rotations and in general, it’s not a time when you can come to safe conclusions about the potential members of your fantasy team. Surely, watch many games and keep an eye on key players. However, don’t forget that half of the NBA teams and some of the best fantasy players are not participating in the postseason.
The 2014 NBA draft class is widely expected to be a superb one. Lots of potential superstars will enter the league through this summer’s draft. Nonetheless, you should be careful. Several times have we seen rookies who were expected to dominate in the NBA once they enter the league failing to meet the expectations. On the other hand, even during the past few years we saw great, impactful and valuable players for your fantasy team, getting selected even below the Top 10 of the draft. So, surely, you can risk a bit with some rookies but keep in mind that will be risking. And together with any risk comes profit or loss.
Keep an eye on injured players and stars who lost the 2013 – 2014 season or part of it. Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Al Horford, Brook Lopez and even Nerlens Noel could have a big impact on your fantasy team next season. Although all of them had almost no fantasy value this season, they could make the difference in 2014 – 2015. In fact, there are several stars out there who could take your team to the next level, assuming that they’ll return healthy.
In addition, you should pay close attention to the 2014 summer offseason. We still don’t know if this summer will be one of the quietest ones of the last years or if it will be one of the busiest ones. However, there are some big names who could change teams, like Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Luol Deng and Pau Gasol. At the end, most of those superstars might just stick with their current teams, but at the moment we can’t be certain about it.
Finally, you should aim for the sleepers. As it happens almost every season, sleepers make the difference in fantasy basketball teams. We all know that players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant will deliver. However, when you get to find some steals like Michael Carter – Williams or even P.J. Tucker, you could take your team to a level above the competition.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 04/23/2014
Happy Hump Day everyone! Today we daily fantasy baseball addicts get all 30 teams in action with a mixture of day and night games. I will be focusing on the 10 games that will be played at 7:05 PM ET and later.
Looking over tonight’s card we may not have to spend a boat-load of money on pitching, there are a few mid-tier pitchers who should perform well tonight.
Enough chit-chat – let’s find some players for our line-ups.
Pitchers:
Michael Wacha, St. Louis Cardinals: The 22-year old right-hander has put up outstanding numbers to start the 2014 season. In four starts this season, he has a 1.73 ERA, 0.88 WHIP with 25 strikeouts. Tonight he faces the struggling New York Mets who are hitting .219 with a .617 OPS and 23.2% strikeout percentage against right-handers. He is in a pitcher’s park against a struggling offense; this has the making of strong performance from him tonight.
Kyle Loshe, Milwaukee Brewers: The right-hander has picked up right where he left off last season at home. Last season he had a 2.97 ERA and 1.16 WHIP at home; this season he has a 2.30 ERA and 0.70 WHIP with 17 strikeouts in his first two starts at home. Tonight he faces the San Diego Padres who have a .653 OPS and 23.4% strikeout percentage against right-handers this season. Loshe is pitching well to start the season and that should continue tonight in this favorable matchup.
Other Notables: Zach Greinke, Cole Hamels, Michael Pineda, Jon Niese
Hitters:
1B Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers: Last night (3-5 with a home run) might have been what “Miggy” needed to bust out of his slump. Tonight he faces right-handers Andre Rienzo who allowed right-handers to hit .264 against him last season while he had a 1.56 HR/9 and 6.16 FIP against righties. He is still underpriced at a few sites; jump on board before he gets back up to the $5,000-plus price-tag.
Other Notables: James Loney, Joey Votto, Adam LaRoche
2B Ben Zobrist, Tampa Bay Rays: Zobrist enters tonight’s contest hitting safely in four straight games with three multi-hit games. Tonight he faces the right-hander Mike Pelfrey who allowed lefties to hit .268 against him last season while sporting a 4.31 FIP and 1.04 HR/9 against lefties. This Zobrist has a .326 BABIP, .360 wOBA and .792 OPS against right-handed pitchers. I do not trust Pelfrey on the road; you may see a few Tampa Bay players in this article.
Other Notables: Chase Utley, Steve Lombardozzi, Ian Kinsler
3B Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays: I am going to attack Mike Pelfrey with another strong hitter from Tampa Bay. Over the last five games, he has eight hits, six runs scored and four RBI’s. This season he has a .368 BABIP, .369 wOBA and .839 OPS against right-handed pitching. Pelfrey on the road is a disaster waiting to happen; expect Longoria and the Rays to get to him early and often.
Other Notables: Trevor Plouffe, Kelly Johnson, Yangervis Solarte
SS Asdrubal Cabrera, Cleveland Indians: Cabrera is not a player who is going to slug many home runs, he gets on base and scores runs. Tonight he faces left-hander Jason Vargas who had a 1.38 HR/9 and 4.66 FIP against right-handed hitters last season. This season Cabrera has dominated left-handed pitching with a .348 BABIP, .267 ISO, .384 wOBA and .889 OPS. This is an excellent match-up to take advantage of his reasonable price-tag ($2,800) at Fanduel.com.
Other Notables: Jose Reyes, Alcides Escobar, Mike Aviles
C Devin Mesoraco, Cincinnati Reds: I do not know if there is a pitcher who can slow down the red-hot Mesoraco. Over the last ten games, he has hit safely in each game with seven multi-hit games. 12 RBI’s and eight runs scored. Tonight he faces right-hander Charlie Morton who has given up 12 earned runs over the last 19 innings pitched. This season Mesoraco has a .632 BABIP, .519 ISO, .703 wOBA and 1.674 OPS against right-handed pitching. He got the night off last night; expect him back on the field tonight with his reasonable salary.
Other Notables: Matt Wieters, Brian McCann, Victor Martinez
OF Jacoby Ellsbury, New York Yankees: Ellsbury has feasted on Boston pitching this season. In 19 at-bats against the Red Sox this season he has seven hits, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Tonight he faces right-hander John Lackey whom he is hitting .308 against with a stolen base in his career. He seems to be playing with a chip on his shoulder against Boston; expect another strong showing from him tonight.
OF Melky Cabrera, Toronto Blue Jays: There is probably not a player in baseball that is as hot as Cabrera is to start the season. He enters tonight’s contest hitting safely in 19 of his 20 games. Tonight he faces right-hander Chris Tillman who had a 1.46 HR/9 and 4.64 FIP against lefties last season. I do not know if I am able to ignore the red-hot Cabrera in this favorable match-up and his reasonable price-tag at Fanduel.com.
OF Matt Joyce, Tampa Bay Rays: I am going to attack Mike Pelfrey with one more play. Joyce enters tonight’s contest sporting a .455 BABIP, .482 wOBA, .256 ISO and 1.151 OPS against right-handed pitching. There is a reason why Pelfrey and the Twins are a +165 underdog against Tampa Bay tonight; expect Joyce and the Rays to dominate Pelfrey.
Other Notables: Ryan Braun, Jason Kubel, Alex Gordon, Rajai Davis
