Where did you buy your reptile supplies???? I have a half log and I HATE IT. the worms temp to eat it and it makes Fawkes belly all black like from it chipping. For his new tank I would like ideas on what to do! Its a 4 foot by 2 foot wide by 4 foot tall PLENTY of room for him to finally be ACTIVE. any help is very appreciated!!!

This is a ghostly web-footed gecko, they can be found and perfectly camouflage among the powdery reddish sands of the Namib Desert, their primary habitat.These geckos have adapted their webbed feet not only to help them stay atop, but to bury beneath the dunes of the Namib Desert. Strictly nocturnal lizards, they spend the day in self-dug burrows and emerge at night to feed.
Their bloodshot-looking eyes are massively oversized to help them detect prey, which includes crickets, grasshoppers, and small spiders. They move surprisingly quickly across the sand, and adhesive pads on their toes make them excellent climbers.
People sometimes hunt these tiny lizards for food, and human encroachment is destroying some of its habitat. Their estimated lifespan in the wild is about five years.
Does it bother you ask much as it bothers me to see people house their beardies on loose substrate?? When I browse tumblr it makes me cringe and even after pointing it out on the anger the owners ignore it!
I know a lot of owners are given misinformation, but the fact that they ignore the facts and keep their beardies on loose substrate anyways is what bothers me :/ People willfully putting their dragons in danger because their ego huge pisses me off tbh.
Update on Clementine, she’s 4 months old and so tiny :( she won’t eat and is now on a powder protein diet from the vet. She’s still offered bugs everyday, I’m trying to get a hold of phoenix worms for her since worms are the only thing she sometimes eats. I dont know what else to do for her :( the vet said at this point it’s likely just genetics since according to him my setup and feeding is all right. Any advice on how to get her to eat?

Bearded dragons are so popular in the pet trade because they lay many eggs per year. In the wild, only one/few of those eggs is likely to reach adulthood. In captivity, it is really common to see baby bearded dragons failing to thrive. At work, pet stores bring in baby bearded dragon all the time because of this. It’s really common. Your Clem is soo lucky to have a parent taking good care of her!
It’s good your vet gave you supplements for her. I also recommend trying a variety of bugs. Butter worms, wax worms, super worms, silk worms, and horned worms are all options for you to try! I dont recommend wax worms as a staple. You can get butter/wax/supers at PETsMART I believe.
For vegetables, try cutting butternut squash in triangles, maybe a bit of strawberry (for some reason strawberry always helps me?), and make a “salad dressing” out of bee pollen. I use local bee pollen from a local beekeeper, but you can buy this at most health food stores or supplement sections in big stores. Mix a little bit of it with water, and drizzle it on the veggies. That might entice her!
Thank you so much! I’ll try my best to find any and all kinds of worms for the girl so hopefully one of them catches her fancy! The salad dressing is also a wonderful idea!
@bettababies if you find that black fly larva is what she really only sometimes eat try dusting all foods with calcium. Since BSFL are high in calcium that could be what is catching her nose. I know it’s how I got my baby to try and eat and he was about 4 months when I got him!

I wanna hear about other people’s weird allergies! I know the common ones - eggs, dairy, grass seeds, peanuts and tree nuts, pollens, cats and dogs, shellfish, bee stings, etc. etc.
But do you have some weird-ass allergy that you’ve never encountered before? Tell meeee. :)
I’ll share first, since I’m asking this weird question: I have a bunch of regular springtime allergies, but I’m allergic quite specifically to valerian of all things - it makes my skin break out in huge red welts. It’s fairly hideous.
I don’t have any allergies personally, but my husband has the strangest one I know of. If he eats any kind of mushroom he goes into a homicidal rage for a while, then falls into a coma for several hours. Needless to say, I police his food like an overbearing mother hen.

Citrus and possibly raspberries. But I knew someone who was allergic to corn, soy, wheat, strawberries, peanuts, tree nuts, and eggs. She had to cook /everything/ herself, the poor bastard.
guinea pigs. I nearly asphyxiated when I was about six and have refused to go near them since for obvious reasons.
There is a chemical that is used in some flavored candies that no one can figure out, but mostly its used in cinnamon flavored things. Tongue swells up and eyes water.
The worst of it? Its used on those scented pine cones they have at the holidays and my store carries about a billion of them.
Fresh carpet glue.
No, not kidding. If I’m in the room while carpet glue is still drying, my eyes swell up.
Which is terrifying.
Calendula!! It makes my skin go all splotchy. Im also allergic to morphine, which i found out during a hospital visit for a kidney stone -_- when they gave it to me, my skin went splotchy and i not only lost feeling in my legs, but it also felt like there was a very heavy weight over my chest.
I’m allergic to the mint additive in Crest toothpaste.
Boysenberries and sundried tomatoes. The latter inherited from my dad.
The one and only thing? Pomegranate. So random and yet in everything nowdays.
Scallops. Not all shellfish. Just scallops. And British leaf mold. Every October was hell when I lived in England but I’ve not had any issues in Illinois or Maryland.
Strawberries and artificial strawberry flavoring, I get welts just from the smell sometimes.
Hotdogs that aren’t oscar meyer. I have no clue what part of it but my throat burns and swells to where I can passably breathe but it’s torture
I just don’t eat hotdogs or really much meat because scared
rabbit dander. no other animals. i break out in hives and it gets hard to breathe. also some forms of cat litter give me the sniffles. :0
I got hives for the first time in my life when an idiot doctor prescribed me an antibiotic while I was on a strong dose of the pill (And they knew i was on the pill it was right there on my fucking record I’d only been on it a month or so).
My hands and feet were so sensitive they burned and itched when i WASNT touching anything, and ACTUALLY touching anything was hell. Plus I got the hive welts on my arms and thighs, I’m afraid of taking ANY antibiotics while on the pill now.
Other than that, not a real allergy as such but I can no longer eat Bananas, Avocados or goji berries. I get terrible stomach cramps for hours or I straight up vomit, I don’t know why i can’t digest any of these things anymore because I used to be able to.

Mango tree sap. I get straight up horrible looking skin rashes if i touch it. Also MSG, but that’s more migrain and stomach cramping as a reaction.
the white goopy stuff that comes out of dandelions. I used to have a hobby of taking apart the stems and curling them and making pretty stems and for a while I never knew why my hands were itching (not red or anything, just itching really badly) every time I did it. I figured it out later.
Kiwi.
I tried to be healthy and make a strawberry-kiwi smoothie with about four kiwis in it. Ten minutes and a bit of anaphylactic shock later, I learned.
I’m allergic to something in strawberry scented soaps but I have no idea what, I’m definitely not allergic to strawberries.
Also my dad and my biological father are both allergic to onions. I’ve never met anyone but them who are.
cherry tomatoes.
Chlorine. Even being near a swimming pool starts burning my skin. Even taking a shower in most towns or cities will set me off and I’ll be itching for hours after.
pork/ham/etc! if i eat even the smallest bit of it (even something just seasoned with bacon) it doesn’t take more than fifteen minutes before my body stars shuddering and i throw up again and again and again until i’m just dry heaving, and i either lose consciousness then or i’m dealing with a headache so bad that i can’t process even the most basic of logic for the next twelve hours.
also bananas. any part of them, even the peel. my skin swells and then my whole limb follows suit. that happens with lots of fruits for me so i never stray beyond “apples.”
what else, what else… caramel, avocado, only certain dairies, nougat, olives, american/processed/whatever the hell those weird thin square cheeses are called, and cat’s claw.
Short tail opossums. After handling them, i get rashes.
I have a cousin who is allergic to leaves. We use to make leaf piles growing up (who hasn't) she broke out almost instantly! Terrible.
As for me apricots and bananas and oysters

This is closest I can find of a picture of the whole thing, it has a few more items in it now since the move :) Your enclosure is a lot bigger than mine! To keep your beardie safe just make sure everything in the enclosure that is large is stable and stationary :)
@i-m-snek Oh i am making sure!! Everything is being screwed, glued and sealed! I want my baby safe but I wanted him to have freedom that i cannot give him right now due to having a rather small room with a lot of stuff on the floor where he can hide or get stuck!

What do you gut load feeder insects with? Specifically mealworms/superworms (if you use them)? But also crickets, roaches, and whatever other bugs you can feed lizards? :0
I use superworms as a secondary feeder! c: I gutload them with apples, oranges, and butternut squash. They tend to ignore leafy greens.
For roaches I feed a wider variety. Usually, they get whatever veggies my dragons haven’t eaten that day. On gutloading days, I add a multivitamin and calcium to their food.

Have you ever heard ‘you are what you eat’? It holds true for our pets as well! A lot of the nutritional value our insect-eating reptiles get is actually from what the INSECTS eat in their last 24 hours. Gutloading just refers to this last meal: it’s meant to be an extremely healthy and high calcium meal.
Gutloading is less of a concern with larval insects like superworms and maggots because they have more digestible protein than adults.
@celestial-geckos has written a lovely couple of recipes for gutloading insects.
