Aaaaaand that's a wrap! I'm done with drawing the Fëanorians; at least in the same style and as companion pieces.
Here's Fëanor, on his way to commit the crime he's so infamous for. And I am so incredibly happy with my progress. Because, um, when you look at my art of Maedhros and the others, they all look incredibly... thin. So either advanced stick figures or disturbingly underfed elves... I will leave it to your imaginations.
Edit: Also, I just realised "Trouble" by Adam Jensen goes with this perfectly
P.S. Guys, thank y'all for all these nice tags you reblog with; if they were comments, I would've respondedđ but as it is, I can only say I am reading all your commentary with a face-splitting grin and clapping my hands from giddiness-overload. Your responses always make my day, even if it already is great!
Extremely boring that the fandom perception of Nerdanel is informed by the instances where she, according to the narrative, was more reasonable and mature than FĂ«anor, because I firmly believe that a) all the Noldor are weirdo freaks in their own way and b) youâd have to match FĂ«anorâs level of weirdo obsession in some way to be married to him

"Maedhros, also called Maedhros the Tall, was a prince of the Ăoldor, eldest of the seven Sons of FĂ«anor, and head of the House of FĂ«anor following the death of his father in Middle-earth. He was highly renowned for his skills as a warrior and diplomat. For centuries, he led his House against the forces of Morgoth, but the Oath that he and his six brothers had sworn to recover the Silmarils constrained him and ultimately brought his demise."
I planned to post this some time later but I really can't, I really like how this turned out for something I expected to only be a coloured sketch at best. But here we are.
This is for @sh1-n0bu đ Hope you like it pooks!đ
The Queen of Lindon is a fell beast when it is demanded; But the hour for that call has come to pass now, and your grip on the hilt of your sword has finally yielded.
Fanart for my Gil-Galad fic because why not?

Sorry, but I've got to contest the concept that either of the first two Kinslayings were Totally Fine And Chill or that there were totally few civilian deaths or that the people getting killed gave as good as they got (which even if they did! the responsibility for starting a murder party remains with the aggressor!) Alqualondë is especially egregious because do you know what only one side of that fight had? Swords. Since, you know, murder only got invented last week but Fëanor was canonically brainstorming about it for years beforehand. The Noldor and specifically the Sons of Fëanor were the only people with arms made for slaughtering other people and a whit of experience using them. And while yes, you can do some damage with a fishing spear or a a harpoon, there's a reason why fishing spears are not regularly brought onto battlefields. I cannot see Alqualondë as anything but a slaughter; if it has fewer casualties than later Kinslayings it is only because of the shortness of its duration and the confusion that defined it.
@weepylucifer
#the concept of what?? people are saying that???#most egregious case of go back to the source material do not pass go do not collect $200 i've seen in a WHILE#''alqualonde was basically fine'' v much not supported by the text
Starting Silmarillion drama is the mind-killer. To vagueblog only ends in suffering. But!
thereâs a big temptation imo to soften the early kinslayings. I think it does a disservice not just to the non-FĂ«anorian characters (like Finarfin whose entire character arc is predicated on seeing the charnel at AlqualondĂ« and having the capacity to turn back, or Fingolfin who does not, or Finrod who represses until everything snaps through mid song battle with Sauron, or CĂrdan who learns that his saviors only came across the sea in the nick of time to rescue him by slaughtering his sundered kin en masse and must live with that for the next three ages of his life) itâs also a betrayal of the perpetrators!
AlqualondĂ« is the first stain on them and it matters that itâs a dramatic one. AlqualondĂ« has to be big, if it isnât then none of what follows makes sense! Within a matter of hours their entire proto-rebel movement goes from victims to victimizers. All the subsequent attempts at reasserting stabilityâMaedhrosâ desperate peacemaking, Maglorâs long frozen regency of indecision, the tense familial ties and fragile truces, only make sense if AlqualondĂ« is a trauma so severe they cannot shake it. It has to haunt them, otherwise whatâs the point? You donât stick a First Kinslaying in your cultural narrative if not to poison the entire civilizational well.
But long ago he rode away, and where he dwelleth none can say; for into darkness fell his star in Mordor where the shadows are.
greatest weakness? loyalty. yeah my eldest brother i followed to evil end for love and for pity, for his will was greater than my own. bit more murder than i intended there. lol. also i'm always worse at birdcalls than i think i'm gonna be. did i get the job
