I'm making this its own post because I don't want the callouts for using reference material in artwork nonsense on my posts. And I certainly don't want friends dragged into things any more than they already have been.
So I'll just say this on its own in response to a hater post from calla-lilly-flower, whom you should block because they're just a shit-talker:
You know what I find the most funny? You, calla-lilly-flower, seem like EXACTLY the kind of person to make a callout blog. Your arguments are so far out of touch with reality that I truly don't think you realize how childish you sound.
We're going after reference images now?! Then every artist out there is FUCKED. You know who doesn't use references? BAD ARTISTS and 0001% of a talented group. Show me someone today drawing hands or feet and I'll show you someone with a folder on their phone or pc with pictures of hands and feet.
Give me a break.
I have sat and watched Calolily work on many pieces, some practically from start to finish, and they have more talent in one finger than a lot of people will have in their lifetime.
Clearly being an artist (or being a member of what is supposed to be a loving and supportive fan group) is not your calling if you can't grasp some of the basic concepts and shame others for using STANDARD INDUSTRY TOOLS at their disposal. As someone with a background in psychology, I suggest you stop projecting and put your energy into somewhere you can thrive. All this does is ostracize you further, and I'm sure you have skills that could be used as a force for good if you tried.

the kind of generative ai that takes a horrendous amount of water to run and ruins the environment and steals art is absolutely terrible and we should all be against it

there are applications for ai that are NOT that and they can be helpful
can and should coexist. and i think the whole larian backlash is not the former.

larian using ai for automation and helping their artists is the correct use.
and before i get 'imagine defending larian lmao' comments- this is about seeing the nuance and digging into what's actually going on. i know this site is the piss on the poor website, but come on. kneejerk reactions are not equal to truth. this was my kneejerk reaction as well! but opinion is not fact. actually look into this stuff before you decide someone else needs a mob and pitchforks.

If I ever share anything that was AI generated it is purely by accident. I hate that it's getting harder and harder to tell and it makes me want to never use the internet again. It definitely had its faults, but man I miss the internet of the 2000s so much.

Finished this piece of Lucanis from Dragon Age: Veilguard a while ago. Not sure what I think of it now, there are elements I like but I don't know if it works as a whole. I think the moon looks neat though! I dig creating glow effects.
I played 3 playthroughs of Veilguard and romanced Lucanis in two of them 🤭 Not only only is he a BAMF but also a total sweetie.

I had to paint Gale as a librarian cos I started a present day fanfic where he gets a job as one and I became a little obsessed. We all love Professor Gale but I kinda think being a librarian suits him more, especially as he gets older.

They’ve warned that a single lawsuit raised by three authors over Anthropic’s AI training now threatens to “financially ruin” the entire AI industry if up to 7 million claimants end up joining the litigation and forcing a settlement.

There's literally no excuse to be shitting on the devs after this. There's no excuse to be making self-aggrandizing posts about how the devs “could have made something out of” some dumbass detail or other that edgy posters like to pick on. There's no excuse to be complaining about how DATV wasn't what you wanted, and how some writer or other hated a character, or point fingers because you personally feel like your cheerios were pissed in.
There never was, but the continued confessions of the conditions they were under, EA's general behavior, and the fact that in the end we got a game that is as mechanically smooth, visually beautiful, and emotionally affecting as it is, is nothing short of a miracle, and a testament to how much they did actually deeply care. They all put an incredible amount of work into this. And then got wrung out by their workplace and “fans” alike.
Saying this right fucking now.
I don’t want to see ANY of you touching that fuckass new Harry Potter series.

The only reason the new series exists is because JK threw a hissy fit over Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and I believe Rupert Grint all disavowed her transphobia, so she remade the series.
Trans lives are more important than your nostalgia. It's not hard.
