what it feels like using krita sometimes cause even after having it for months i still have no clue how 80% of the software works

With the caveat that I very much don't know 80% of Krita's tools either, what I landed on was just picking a brush that didn't feel awful, practicing and trying a new tool every once in a while. When you feel like you're getting comfortable with the tools you have, you dive into some weird shit in the corner you had been thinking about.

Feeling confident about drawing with the stylus? Do a tour of all the brushes. Feel comfortable with your brush set? Check out what every docker does. Search how the types of layer or masks work, try the stabilizer options, mess around with the Brush editor...

When you're starting it's hard to tell when something is your fault or the fault of your beginner tools. "Does this stroke look like shit because this brush isn't suited for this or can I just not use it properly?" All you can do is keep practicing until you're confident that "no, this brush just isn't behave the way I expect it to" and you open brush editor, struggle with it being bugged and fleeing you screen, put your taskbar on the side of the screen because apparently that helps, and mess around with how the pressure, speed, and length of a stroke affect brush size until you have something that kind of behaves how you want it to.

After forgetting to save the brush preset a couple of times, you'll feel like a genius for making something perfectly suited for you, then the next day your perfect brush will feel like shit and you'll question your existence If you don't know what to try next check some video of a krita artist and see what they're using. No one probably needs to know 100% of Krita's tools. Not only are there bundles of tools for tasks like animation, that you won't touch with a 10 foot stylus if you're not interested in animating, there are plenty of tools made specifically for what you intend to on Krita that you'll never touch, whether because most people don't find use in it, or because you specifically don't. tldr: don't worry about knowing the tools right away or even months in, just practice until you're comfortable and slowly expand your comfort zone into the unknown

#when I started I felt like a person without a driver's license inside a F1 car #it's way too much stuff #way too many buttons #even if you learn about what a lot of the tools do trying to use then all at once is overwhelming #It's like getting a bunch of spices but you can't really tell how to use then #because you gotta be able to know what spice the food needs #krita
