What's one of your favorite out of the ordinary skills you've picked up?
I'll go first.
Some of you already know I'm the eldest of 8 kids, so I have 7 littler siblings.
We live in a 3 bathroom house, but the downstairs one is out of commission due to ongoing repairs from a flooding incident. And one of the other bathrooms is the one in the master bedroom. (Mom and Dad's room, which is always under lock and key)
So in reality, at the current moment, we kids share the same bathroom :'l
It should also be worth noting that the 4 boys of the house out of the 8 total kids are 15, 13, 11, and 9 years old. Their aim in regards to bathroom usage varies between them, and I won't name names.
Anyways- The skill I've gotten really really good at is double checking the toilet seat to avoid sitting down on splatter. Strange skill, yes, but BOY am I grateful to have it-
It's a bit gratifying to check, notice a mess, and be able to thoroughly clean it before I sit, and happily avoid what would have happened if I DIDN'T notice-
This is sometimes really annoying, but I can keep my peace of mind that I officially picked up a weird skill at least.
I was a particularly devious little child way back when, so as a consequence to me having been a sneaky little gremlin I can recognize who’s who by footfall patterns and noises
Not far off honestly- plus it's a wide range of illness. So I mean mental, physical... hell atp, MAKE IT ALL DIMENSIONS OF HEALTH
Illness also is suffering in a way so, ha! I still get to be a negative force
The only way to stop me is... to defeat Scientology because genuinely after researching what the fuck. So that would be much appreciated and I'll cut back on the many shits thank you
WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE TO SOAK THEIR BLOOD IN THE WOOD OF FLOORBOARDS???
THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG RANT....
I HAD TO RETURN THE BOOK TO THE LIBRARY BUT I HAVE IT BACK NOW, I CANT BELIEVE I WAS SO CLOSE TO THIS SCENE
THE RAT IS A DISPLACER???? WHAT THE HELL??? SHIVERS. THIS IS SUCH A GOOD PLOT TWIST.
OHHH THE LOREMASTER. THAT MEANS THE LOREMASTER IS A DISPLACER. WAIT WAIT WAHT WAIGT. I KNOW YALL ARE TIRED OF HEARING THIS BUT I REALLY LIEKD LOREMASTER, HE WAS SO SILLY BEING ALL SHY ABOUT HIS BOOKS. GROWN MAN BTW. BUT ANYWAYS I NEED TO LOCK IN
if Copernum is a displacer... then so is Lormaster cuz thats his father. If all displacers work with Maldor, then Lormaster was also? I DON'T THINK SO! no i do think so actually, I have two theories.
We know that Copernum is ashamed of his father, the only reason i could think of is because Loremaster isn't working for Maldor, and Copernum thinks he's pathetic and a coward for that.
I'm not sure what part of the book it was in or who said it, but wasn't it said that Loremaster was the less violent person in his family? He was never a fan of the torture stuff. I'm pretty sure they mentioned one of the torturers was Loremaster's father.
But just saying Loremaster wasn't working with Maldor feels off. Why would he choose not to work for him? Displacers straying from Maldor isn't a common occurrence at all. The only displacers that we know actually went against Maldor, are Malar and Ferrin, but Ferrin isn't even sure if thats what he wants to do. So why would Loremaster be good without a reason? Maybe he's just more into his academics and keeping the history of Lyrain intact, maybe Maldor allows Loremaster to do so.
BUT WHAT IF LOREMASTER WAS NEVER GOOD?
this is the most likely theory to me, Loremaster is the keeper of the Book of Salazared. He's the preserver of Maldor's game, making sure there's always a way for someone (like the blind prince and Jason) to get The Word, and in return, Maldor allows Lormaster to keep his maps and books because those are illegal.
I KNOW this bum was secretly encouraging Jason to try and get the book in the off limits library. He literately said "my father used to forbid books certain books for me to read because it was the only way I'd read them." AND IN THE SAME BREATH SAID "but not me lol. don't mistake my intention. Resist becoming intrigued by the forbidden book in my evil library" or smth like that.... HE WAS USING REVERSE-REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY! SOME EVIL DISPLACER MANIPULATION.
IT ALSO MAKES SENSE THAT BRIDONUS KEPLIN DUNSCRIP GARONICUM THE NINTH (yes you heard that right. I'm bringing in his full name, stuff just got real) IS A DISPLACER BECAUSE HE HAS BOOKS LIKE "Subtleties of Manipulation." LIKE??? THAT IS THE MOST DISPLACER THING I'VE EVVAA SEEN.
all im sayin is that he set Jason up. anyways...
NEDWIN. NEDWIN OOOOH MY AAAHHHHHH WE'RE ALMOST AT THE END OF THE BOOK DON'T DO THIS BRANDON. YOU CAN'T MAKE EVERYTHING FALL APART IN THE END OF THE BOOK MAN PLZ. THIS WHOLE BOOK NOTHING HAS BEEN GOING NEDWIN'S WAY PLZ LET HIM KILL COPERNUM PLZZ.
I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY GAAHH WHEERE DO I START???
I already said this but... it feels like Galloran didn't think this through and the worst thing that could of happened (and the most obvious thing to happen, like everyone knew Copernum would do this) happened. Nedwin was not the right person for the job he was assigned. He himself doesn't believe he's worthy for anything but following Galloran's order and being a loyal servant to him. Being in a position to be leader and watch over Trensicourt is the last thing he should be in charge of.
His whole identity is Galloran. He lives besides Galloran, living FOR Galloran, enduring torture FOR Galloran, and staying at Trensicourt only because he was ordered to even though Galloran KNOWS that Nedwin NEEDS him to keep a steady mind. Nedwin is basically lost without any orders to follow.
For someone who was captured and torched when he was a kid and only got out somewhere in his adult years because of Galloran, shouldn't Galloran be more caring or protective over Nedwin? Why would he leave Nedwin with his torturer? Sure, Nedwin is the only person Galloran trusts to watch over his kingdom, BUT HES NOT MEANT FOR THE JOB.
When they first had a talk with Copernum, Galloran was upset that Nedwin spied on their conversation because he didn't want him to see Copernum, but now he's ok with leaving Nedwin with Copernum while Nedwin is unprepared and vulnerable without him?
also why is Copernum's dialog so good!?!?!😭😭
"we used to have such times, just the two of us." SHUT UP! SHUT. UUP
IM SOBBING AHHH WHY DOES BRANDON MULL LOVE TO WRITE CHARACTERS BODIES FAILING WHEN DYING AHHH THATS MY #1 WEAKNESS.
FIRST WHEN DRAKE WAS DYING HE ASKED FARFALEE WHERE HIS SEED WAS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T REMEMBER. AAGRGGG SOBBINGGG
and now it's Nedwin not being able to speak, his vision dimming, unable to hear well, AND MEMORY LOSS GAAAHHHH
also, that thing Nedwin drank, there's no way thats poison. He drank a potion that could stop bleeding and close the wound! THAT HAS TO BE IT. IT HAS TO BE. NEDWIN CANT DIE NOW BECAUSE HE DIDN'T FULFILL HIS NARRATIVE PURPOSE. HIS REVENGE ON COPERNUM. HE HAS TO KILL COPERNUM NOT COPERNUM KILLING HIM.
ooohh gahh.. ooohhh,,,, oawwww.. the heart palpitations oow iowww whta do you mean Copernum used to always talk when torturing Nedwin....
NAAAAAAAAAAOO HE DIDN'T FAIL. I'm actually so stumped... how is he getting out of this?... im ignoring the "he painlessly slipped away" because that is definitely some unreliable narrator stuff going on, it sounds fake in a way, not just because he's my favorite, but it sounds too sudden for Brandon Mull, I feel like his writing style is killing off a character AFTER they complete their objective. Nedwin did a lot for the rebellion, but nothing for HIMSELF. No personal goal reached, no revenge acted upon which in Nedwin's case it would be killing Copernum. BUT HOW IS HE GOING TO KILL HIM?? AGHH. I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY PAST ACTIONS FROM NEDWIN THAT HINT HE COULD DO IT.
Brandon Mull wouldn't kill off Nedwin before he did his part, I don't think he would do that... trust. that thing he drank is gonna help. ALSO it can't be poison because Nedwin doesn't like to kill people with poison, he's stated that it's a cowards move, but does that also count for him? Does he think killing himself before the wound does isn't honorable? Or the opposite?
AHHH IDK IDK. HOW IS HE GONNA KILL COPERNUM. I don't even have any thing to work with, did Nedwin secretly pack Jason's old propeller sword? Is he gonna pull it out and just shoot/stab Copernum? Thats a very weak theory because Maldor took it when Jason went to him right? agh I dont know. But I really miss that sword.
I LITERATELY CANT SEE NEDWIN GETTING OUT OF THIS. Like unless he just defies death but Brandon Mull doesn't seem the type to just be like "oooh the stab wasn't lethal after all and Nedwin stabs Copernum!!" there was too much finality in the description of the stab wound, and Nedwin was having the symptoms of death, but could that be just the potion he drank making him appear near death? Unless he just wakes up from dying
ARG this is just set up so strangely to me. Drake's death felt final, with every word and action, I mean he did get stabbed through the chest (AUGH😭) but so did Nedwin, so why does this feel so unsteady? BECAUSE IT'S WRONG!!
The thing Nedwin drank is obviously the biggest evidence of his possible survival, but WHAT is it. I was half joking before but to me it seems like the potion would act as something to close the wound or stop the bleeding? ah I don't know, that might be possible because of Nedwin's access to some weird remedies. Or it really could be poison to kill himself. BUT Copernum DID mock Nedwin for drinking poison so he wouldn't die from his hands, but Copernum mentioning poison alone messes up my theory, it feels like the author is tricking you by making the character say the most likely thing so it feels more finalized, only to reveal a plot twist after we let our guard down.
As a huge fan of Brandon Mull's book, and basically every single series he's written, I do love it when I stumble into someone else who also reads his books.
I love your theories so so much!! And I do agree Loremaster definitely used reverse reverse psychology. XD
Now uhm
Without spoiling what happens next, I will simply say you might not be disappointed about how this plays out when you do find out what it was he drank.
I remember vividly losing my mind in giggles and screeching, because of the geniusness of it all. I say geniusness to both Nedwin the character and of course Brandon-
Is it considered a spoiler if I share a random song I headcanon to fit Nedwin-
It's one of those "I listened to this song and an animatic was created in my brain" songs, and I just envisioned Nedwin doing uhm.. Nedwin things.
/trying to be vague and failing miserably
I feel you about the whole "I must return this to the library, but I'm not done with the book yet" dilemma.
orz
I hope you get the book back soon, cause Beyonders is amazing ✨️✨️
