How do I Tumbler?

Follow a BUNCH of people, go through the dash and unfollow if someone reblogs a bunch of stuff you find boring, and reblog reblog reblog.

The tags are used as comments here. Commas separate tags. Tags are useless for finding things and wonderful for expressing your feelings and for content warnings (more below)

Reblog art you like. Memes. Comics. Funny shit. Aesthetic shit. Fandom shit. Current events shit. It's your own personal packrat nest so hoard whatever shit you like.

If you find someone you don't agree with or just don't like very much and don't want to see, block them. Block people indiscriminately bc they are strangers on the internet and aren't worth it. Trust me they're not worth it.

Don't share your real name, age, location, or triggers. That's not specific to tumblr but yk it's good advice on the internet in general.

Speaking of triggers, if there IS something that will bother you, go into your settings and blacklist tags you don't want to see. It is literally no one's responsibility but yours to protect yourself on the internet. (possibly a legal guardian but I'm assuming if you're here you're at least old enough to have enough autonomy over your body to know what you should be consuming)

People generally try to tag those big triggers, so things like clowns, spiders, body horror, flash warning, etc are pretty common. You can tag triggers when you reblog too, as they are helpful for others, but you don't have to.

Reblog things you like and think other people should/would like to see. Don't take shit personally, I promise you it's not.

Use common sense stranger rules. Don't take an anonymous stranger at their word. Don't give people in your ask box money. Don't let people guilt you into giving them money with sad cat pictures. Google shit before you believe it. Literally take 5 seconds to fact check if you think something is sus, ESPECIALLY when it involves real world stuff. Money, location sharing, meet ups.

Take someone with you before you meet a stranger u found on the internet. Again not specific to tumblr.

Be safe.

Be smart.

So many fiber arts have difficulty levels that are less about your level of skill than your ability to tolerate extreme multi-step processes.

Its also probably one of the reasons why any fiber art is a gateway drug into every other fiber art. I could do [other fiber art], I basically do half of those steps already for [current fiber art]. If I’m already doing 18 steps to make this sweater, is it really that many more steps if I spin my own wool? If I had sheep, I could skip the step of sourcing my material.

There is definitely a phenomena where people try SO hard to avoid anthropomorphism they end up looping around into this quasi-religious stance that humans have some essential non-biological quality that sets us apart from other animals. Like being so cautious about how you describe emotion experienced by a nonhuman animal that you go "that animal is not 'happy' it's just demonstrating a response to positive stimuli and receiving chemical reward signals" as if that's not also what human emotion is at the fundamental level.

#in my experience it comes from the christian concept of the “soul” and that humans are the only beings who have souls #and therefore nothing else can have experiences like humans bc humans have souls and get to be Saved or some shit #it's fucken weird af

The idea of the sound of the tardis bringing hope in new who is so interesting to me because we see many instances of pre (or even during) the time war time lords being seen as something to fear, or be annoyed by, or just straight up a myth, the association with a tardis is much less often the doctor than it is the time lords as a whole, and like the idea that the post war universe has changed so fundamentally that most people just know that sound for the doctor rather than for the time lords is something I’ve been rotating in my brain

Bohatyrka by sculptor Vasily Korchevoy

The title, "Bohatyrka," means "Hero."

This is one of several such sculptures by fat-admiring Ukrainian artist Vasyl Korchovi, whose name has been Russianized as Vasily Korchevoy in the original post, which isn't the fashion these days.

The fidelity here is amazing; it is extremely difficult to capture the accuracy of fat bodies even in two-dimensional art, let alone in sculpture. If I were extra critical I might question the breasts, which look a little bit idealized, and the placement of the navel, which is rarely seen on the lower belly (it's almost always directly in the cleft, or on the bottom of the upper belly), but some fat people do possess one or both of these characteristics, so it's definitely possible.

Anyway, she's beautiful!
