Thinking about King Lear, I think there's one specific acting choice that both his actor and the actresses playing his daughters can make that change the whole tenor of the show: when he asks who loves him the most, are the daughters surprised, and if so, how surprised?

If this is very surprising, it's the first sign that Lear is exhibiting symptoms of dementia which will only be exacerbated later. Goneril and Regan are confused but play along; Cordelia refuses to answer the question because she is completely taken aback; while Lear has perhaps not always been the best father and has had flaws such as flightiness and self-pity, he has never given her reason to think he'd disown her on a whim.

If it's not a surprise- if all the sisters look at each other and share a sigh- then this is just the latest example of a lifetime of their father being impossible to please. Goneril and Regan have already prepared their answers, but this is the last straw for Cordelia- not now, not in front of her suitors, not at the reading of his will, not even if there are consequences for not playing along.

(Obviously there are realms of nuance in between these two possibilities that actors can play with!)

yeah actually we removed the big bad wolf from the little red riding hood story because portraying violence against minors is really messed up. yeah. yeah also the wolf narrative was really predatory and had had some icky grooming vibes and a fable meant for literal children shouldn’t have implied p*do shit and grape so now little red riding hood goes into the woods and nothing happens and she goes to grandma’s house. don’t worry our kids will still stick to the path and know not to follow to wolves implicitly because we told them to and children should always do as their told. just like little red riding hood does now.

You joke but a copy of Little Red Riding Hood famously was pulled from school libraries near where I grew up back in the '90s. Not for any of the reasons OP gives, of course—it was pulled because Little Red had a bottle of wine in the basket she was carrying to Grandma's and that was against the district's D.A.R.E. (Drugs Are Really Evil Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

In short, the book was banned for containing grape.
