some BNHA ACTOR AU based on (and to cope with) recent manga events
There was a murder case in Ireland where the killer and the victim had had burner phones (they were in a secret relationship). Both Nokia, the old school ones.
The killer dumped them in a deep, very muddy pond that often froze over, had a ton of plants, fish, and algae, and the mud was very runny/could theoretically get into cracks easily.
Anyway those phones were down there ages. I can’t remember exactly how long, I’d guess a year or so. Police finally recovered them. They consulted data retrieval experts.
I kid you not, when they learned they were Nokias, they recommended just letting them dry out then trying to power them on.
Sure enough, those babies flashed right up. Like nothing had happened.
Truly indestructible.
Above is true, by the way. I’m pretty sure they refer to the murder of Elaine O'Hara. The phones were found in a reservoir and had been there for little over a year.
another internet thing kids wont experience is toolbar stacking:
This shit was barbaric even for 2001
This cute platypus
(via)
I fully understand why westerners thought the platypus was a hoax at first. I’m looking at a real live one moving around and it STILL looks fake.
The one thing that could have made them sound any more made up would have been if you said the boys have secret viper fangs that can absolutely fuck you up with venom, and they do, on their goddamn feet.
@withswords
what is it about me sitting in my little corner of the Internet and saying “I actually don’t hate myself as an adult now and I want to be nice to people and that’s my entire thing” that makes these anons start foaming at the mouth
I’ll be perfectly honest, I’ve spent the better part of a decade wishing I weren’t fucking alive and beating depression off with a caveman’s wooden club. If I get to a point in my adult life after all that shit where I can finally say “I don’t want to see myself dead anymore, I like who I am” and you have the gall to tell me I have too much self confidence now, I’m gonna take the club I killed my depression with and I’m gonna start beating you with it
Basically,
This is what hozier meant when he says he falls a little bit in love everyday with someone new
I once watched a girl in the produce aisle pick up a bushel of bananas that were precariously perched on the edge and move them farther back and under her breath she said “there you go sweeties - that will be more comfortable” before shuffling off and… I think about her often.
« Silent lovers » is such a sweet way to put it.
I was driving on the highway and passed a dude absolutely JAMMING alone in his car, doing those little half dance moves you do when you’re stuck sitting down in a small space, bellowing unheard lyrics at the top of his lungs, and my instant reaction was to think “I love you.” And then to pray he had a good day, or whatever, because those fleeting moments of connection are so incredible.
could you imagine a pie, getting thrown in your face !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god, they were shirtmates.
important psa
Awh, I always thought they were so pretty and had no idea they could be harmful
Can someone transcribe this? The water is really loud.
“Hey everybody! Here we are in the southern Appalachian mountains. We have a pristine Montane stream ecosystem, as you can see all around us here. I thought I’d make an educational video this morning. It involves this practice right here [gestures to rock pile]. As our national parks and national forests fall victim to human pressure, more than ever, this is something we’re seeing more and more of. Hopefully we can make this video go viral. This stream, as you can see around us right here, is a breeding ground for North America’s largest salamander, the Eastern hellbender. They can get up to 2.5-3 feet long. It’s part of our natural heritage in the eastern United States. When people do this right here - what they consider to be art - they’re actually destroying the breeding ground for the Eastern hellbender salamander. The Eastern hellbender will use flat rocks such as these to make nesting sites in these streams. So here’s what I would like everybody to do. If you care about our Montane stream freshwater ecosystems like this one around us here, when you see something like this, this is what I recommend doing: [kicks down rock pile]. Take the rocks, throw them back into the stream. The Eastern hellbender utilizes rocks like this. It actually feels pretty good to do this! [walks to other pile] This is not actually art, okay? This is destruction of our freshwater ecosystems. So I would like to encourage everyone: when you see this [gestures to second rock pile], do this! [kicks pile] I’d like to return our streams to their natural state for the organisms that live here. Thanks, and have a good day.”
also! don’t do this on beaches! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newyorker.com/culture/rabbit-holes/people-are-stacking-too-many-stones/amp

Fantastic! Yes! They're very harmful to many ecosystems and should never be considered art!
BUT
If you see one of these rock piles on an established trail, do NOT for the love of god kick it over. In places where a trail forks or moves over features like talus fields, trail crews sometimes build cairns to mark the trail where spray painted blazes can't be used or would be easily missed (e.g. on rocks that commonly become wet, painted blazes are harder to see).
There are multiple takeaways here:
1) Making cairns yourself is BAD. Don't do it.
2) Cairns are not ever properly used in rivers.
3) If you see a cairn on a trail, LEAVE IT. If it does need to be removed, the trail crews working for the National Forest Service/NPS/AMC/whatever or Rangers will remove it when they do trail work.
If you only ever read one post of mine, please make it this one. YESTERDAY my mom and I were hiking in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of New Hampshire, and on the trail we hiked there was a fork with half marked by a cairn so hikers knew to go the right way to pick up the blazed trail. If someone had removed that we probably would have been fine because there was an old logging road on the other side eventually leading to the road going through the notch, but elsewhere that could have killed us. It's very easy to get lost in wilderness, and no matter how prepared or experienced you are it can prove fatal.
TL;DR, please note this statement by the National Park Service.
(I am aware this statement specifically is from NPS, but this goes for your National Forests, State Forests, etc as well.)

A good cairn, built by a trail crew to mark the trail ascent over open face granite on the Baldface Loop over North and South Baldface in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I took this when we summited in 2018.

Ive been reading through tags and this post was made by a lesbian. Don’t support them JUST because you want to fuck them or find it hot, your primary reasoning should be because everybody has the right to wear what they want.
These celebrities might all be beautiful and slender and young because they’re well,, celebrities. But not every man who chooses to wear a dress will be. They still deserve support.
@irresponsible-black-unicorn you should be up here
I might not do it often but I feel DAMN good in a dress. I get to show off my arms and give room for my legs?
Um…yes please
Hell yeah, sun dresses are the best.
These are the best additions anyone has added to my post!!!! Thank you!! Y'all are both awesome.

Brilliant defense mechanism. The hawks can’t get you if you’re under a tree.
This is so cool!!!
Chickens are so underrated, I love them
The person in the video calling them idiots is silly, the sound they (the person) made is nearly identical to the very specific call chickens use when spotting an aerial predator in pursuit. The immediate reaction to the “hawk!” call is, of course, to seek cover. Being that alert and that reactive to that sound is what keeps them alive (and why having cover is so, so important for poultry.)
That said, I did have a beloved hen who, when annoyed because there were too many other birds around the feeder/waterer for her to shove through, learned to make her “hawk!” call, which would send them all scurrying for cover and she could eat and drink in peace.
Found thousands of tadpoles on my hike, thought tumblr would enjoy bustling tadpoles in these uncertain times.
