Asking for writing/organization advice

Okay. So this is more on the tooling side of things (I write a lot digitally, because I am very good at losing the pen the paper copies of my random writing bursts)

So, people out there, Hi!

I wanted to ask:

a) How do you organize your writing ideas?

b) What platform do you use for the actual writing of your drafts? (currently I keep switching between Notion and Google docs)

This unnamed OC came to me, so she’s getting a story built around her. So far:

The daughter of a king and former mistress. She eventually finds herself back at her fathers court. Thanks to her mother, she’s savvy, sly, and a little morally compromised. Her father greatly values her advice, and she can essentially get away with murder (she’s not killed, yet) and at one point, she is tasked with going off to meet potential suitors for her sister. Basically the match needs to be advantageous, but she takes other things into account. Is he handsome? Is he a nice guy? Would he make the sister happy? Is he good in bed? He’s from royal blood of a friendly, but unallied country, he’s handsome, charming, and would definitely please the sister. Unfortunately he does fall for the illegitimate daughter, and the two will have a torrid love affair.

Also, she’s totally the king’s favourite. One reason: She covertly slips girls in and out of the king’s bed, and the court is none the wiser (or at least when the queen isn’t in earshot).

She may or may not also end up wedding a well positioned man who has a reputation of bedding a number of men, both with and without noble backgrounds. Their reputations precede them both, and they plan on having damn good time. However that may fall short because her brother (thru king) is kinda incompetent and a bit tyrannical, so her other 💩🧠 brother (thru stepdad), and plenty of other nobles think it’s time to overthrow the current monarchy in favour of one of them. There will be a happy ending.

Song of midnight

There is a song that plays in my mind every night.

It is not loud enough to drown out the waves of sleepiness a weary day brings. It is not harsh on the mind which is already tired. It is not jarring to the dreams that form when I finally, finally fall asleep.

It is as quiet as the rustle of silken sheets. It is as soft as stone worn down through time by a river. It flows with my dreams and brings color in a landscape of white and gray.

It is a song that no one hears, because it is just a memory of something that never occurred.

MDZS fanfic prompt #9

The new GusuLan sect leader is a man of intrigue.

He wears the spotless Lan white, occasionally with a guqin on his back. 

He is a man of kind words and light smiles. He is a man of impeccable manners and boundless patience.

But this display of perfection is hardly what makes him worth talking about.

His origins are dubious, his admittance of them even more outrageous.

He wears a dark dizi on his waist and carries a sword with a blade like frost.

Not quite ChenQing or Bichen, but the mere shadows of those tools.

But it is enough to make him shrouded in mystery. The Jins, of course, gossip about him in quiet corners. Nobody wants to be stabbed with Suihua after all.

OR

Sect Leader SiZhui. Enough said.

MDZS fanfic prompt #8

Wingfic AU where:

- The color of the wings signifies your status/strength in some way

- There is actual, proper, duel style fighting (r.i.p. english?) with all the flashiness (I come from the land of the book, folks)

- One of our beloved characters loses their wings (NOT JC pretty please?)

- No Sunshot campaign or Yi city arc, kill off the bad Wens just like that...

Here are some optional paras from my side:

Their wings were falling apart.

Wen Chao was the first one to feel true terror as the healer told him, that no, his fallen feathers won’t come back because resentful energy had twisted the internal structure of the wings. The same happened to Wen ZhuLiu, who took his demise with the same indifference with which he took his job.

The day a cultivators wings withered completely, they had a fate worse than death. Wen Xu’s wings caught fire, and Wen Chao resented that his brother died so swiftly, but he didn’t. Wen RuoHan’s wings were later confirmed to have been hacked away by his subordinate.

All in all, the demise of the main Wen family was the demise of the majority of the sect.

The cultivation world was finally at peace, on the surface.

All that didn’t solve Lan WangJi’s problem of course. Which was his scheduled duel with Wei WuXian, who thought he hated him. Lan WangJi would never, but oh, when has he ever been excellent with baring the deepest parts of his heart?

Wei Ying had learned to not close his eyes for too long. It was painful when he was on the streets, where all he wanted to do was just drop where he stood and sleep. But there were dogs to run away from, and worse than that, people.

It changed when Jiang FengMian found him and took him to his home, and there, for the first time in very long, Wei Ying fell asleep and didn’t wake for weeks.

Lan WangJi hadn’t opened his eyes for almost a decade. It happened right after he realized that his mother was truly gone. No stern or gentle words could coax him into opening his eyes to a world where his mother didn’t reside anymore. He learned to fight on the basis of his able hearing alone.

Just like that, one night, he heard foreign laughter from a trespassing disciple, and all the years of his resolve were threatened to be undone.

OR

An AU where people close their eyes when they experience pain, and keep them open wide when they are happy, with all sorts of variation in between.

Jiang Cheng is suspicious of Wei WuXian.

They have been in Cloud Recesses for one month and Wei WuXian just goes somewhere at night when he assumes that Jiang Cheng is sleeping.

Jiang Cheng knows, for a fact, that his brother isn’t sneaking off to get emperor’s smile. However, Jiang Cheng doubts his ability to accidently not break sect rules or alert Wei WuXian while following him at night (not that he will admit it to anyone).

He ends up going through Wei WuXian’s new talismans in the hopes of finding something.

The next thing he knows he touches something dubious and finds himself turned into a purple bunny.

Jiang YanLi decides to turn her old hobby into a profession to supplement YunmengJiang sect’s depleted treasury after the Sunshot campaign. She sets up a small eatery within the lotus pier markets and sells her lotus and pork rib soup.

News spreads, her brothers are happy, YunmengJiang is coming back on map rapidly, and Jin ZiXuan thinks he can fool her if he disguises himself as a Yunmeng local and comes to her shop at least once a week.

It is all good and peaceful.

Until one day, a woman who looks haggard and drained stumbles into her shop, and introduces herself as Wen Qing.

Wei WuXian falls from the roof the first time he sees Lan WangJi.

Lan WangJi looks almost horrified to see the outrageous boy he had just met slipping from the roof in front of his eyes.

He rushes to catch the boy, and owing to his cultivation manages to do just that.

Things, however, get darker when he realizes exactly why he had fallen.

Wen Ning is approached by Nie MingJue to help protect Nie HuaiSang.

Because HuaiSang has been visiting Burial Mounds a lot, recently.

Also, because of this, Nie MingJue finds out that the previous impressions everyone had of Wei WuXian are very wrong.

The Yiling Laozu can barely be trusted to bind his own waist sash properly, let alone lead an army against the whole cultivation world.

OR

By the virtue of Nie HuaiSang’s existence, Da-ge finds out things, sees other things he would rather not have seen, and becomes all right with the idea of Wei WuXian breathing.

A-Yuan has found suitable legs to stick to. Again.

But this time, Wei WuXian doesn’t find A-Yuan. The Burial Mounds explode in panic.

Meanwhile, YunmengJiang disciples stare in horror and fascination at their sect leader who promptly acquired a toddler from somewhere and is actually smiling at the kid?

A-Yuan is found by Jiang Cheng in Yiling and he is brought back to Lotus Pier. Meanwhile, Wei WuXian panics and enlists expert help.

Jin GuangYao was tired.

After all he had done, after all the necessary sacrifices he had made, he could see it all sloping into a dead end.

The other day, he caught his half brother trying to steal the documents about a sacrificial ritual to call on a vengeful spirit. If his heart wasn’t already in shambles, it would have broken again.

Qin Su had never been the same after A-Song had gone. And neither had he.

Er-ge’s smile had kept him afloat through all the turmoil of the past decade. It wounded him to no end that the kind ZeWu-jun was being set up for betrayal by his own hands.

So he took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of blood from the ritual array on the ground, and called out the spirit he had wronged so much to take over his body.

“Wei WuXian.” He spoke as his vision blurred from blood loss. “I ask for no lives, just that you correct the mistakes I have made. Take care of A-Yang and Er-ge. They will understand soon enough, when HuaiSang tells them of all I have done.”

OR

Jin GuangYao sacrifices himself to give his body to Wei WuXian.
