Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written
Write it badly or it'll never be written

Write it badly or it'll never be written
Please keep interacting with this post because when I come to tumblr to procrastinate, this shows up again in my notifications and guilts me into writing again
-Accidentally falls for guy
-Guy doesn't do relationships
Like justš, fuck.
Todayās Sunday.
you have to rb this on a sunday every time u see this on ur dash
Ya know...
I wish I knew what I wanted more. I wish I had a clear idea of what I want for myself.
I keep pursuing people I think I know I want but then my uncertainty either drives a wedge between us or I miss the chance to be with them.
Or worse still my insecurity will make it so I just yearn for the fucker without at least saying something once to at least get shot down so I can move on.
And yet there's a guy I really like that unfortunately lives a few states away that I would love to say that I wanted to try for more but I can't, because i fear the loss of them over the possibility of something more.
You'd think 30 years of life would help me push back all of this shit and yet I'm constantly at war with my brain and emotions. Always deiciding that loneliness will always be the better option. That having them as a friend would be better than another empty slot in a long long line of people that are no longer there.
Fuck why can't I actually be good at this.
Well, I have a dirty mind.Ā
oh well,
That is NOT staying in the tags

The election doesnāt start tomorrow, it ends tomorrow.
If you havenāt already, please make sure you are registered to vote and know where your polling place is (vote.org is a great and easy way to get that information). Additionally, please make sure you have a way to get to your polling place. Uber and Lyft often give free or discounted rides to the polls, and this year the car rental company, Hertz, is allowing free one-day rentals to get to the polls. More information on that here.
EDIT: NAACP has a discount code to use for Lyft, valid for two rides up to $20 ($40 total). Use code: NAACPVOTE24
The following states allow same day registration for general elections, ie: the presidential election:
California
Colorado
Washington DC
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa
Maine
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Mexico
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin
Wyoming
Note: North Dakota does not require formal voter registration, and upon presenting valid identification at a polling place, eligible citizens receive their ballot to vote.
all info here
The following states are required by law to give you time off to vote (between one and three hours):
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Maryland
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
Nevada
New Mexico
New York
Ohio
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
*Most states requiring employers to permit voting leave also require that this time is paid. Among the above, the following do not: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Dakota. (info here)
Again, it is your right to vote. If you are in line when the polls close, stay in line. It is your legal right to vote.
If you are turned away at the polls, say the following verbatim: āGive me a provisional ballot with a receipt as required by law.ā
If you make a mistake on your ballot, you have the right to ask for a new ballot. Donāt cross anything out, simply ask for a new one.
Poll workers are required to make reasonable accommodations for voters who need, including ballots in other languages or translators.
Canvassing is not allowed at polling places, and no one is allowed to threaten or intimidate voters. You have the right to report anything of the like.
All info taken from here
Some tips:
Donāt wear political merch to the polls.
Donāt engage with anyone about your politics at the polls.
Donāt take phone calls inside your polling place ā it can wait, please be respectful.
Research who is running locally and see what their policies are. Additionally, research any local propositions that may be on the ballot. The language on ballots is made to be purposefully confusing, so make sure you read everything carefully in addition to your research.
If youāre able to get up early on Election Day, go right when your polling place opens to beat the line.
REMEMBER: IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!
Here are a list of state-by-state voter protection hotlines, as well as hotlines in various other languages:
Please vote tomorrow if you have not already. Itās so important, and choosing not to vote or voting for a third party is a vote for extremist measures. Vote down the ballot, and do not let anyone bully you into voting one certain way.
What we are seeing throughout this election cycle (and the last two election cycles) is entirely abnormal. The bullying we see from a certain side and its supporters is childish and dangerous. They spew false information, make racist remarks, and sexualize and discriminate fellow candidates. No single presidential candidate is completely and wholly good, so criticize accordingly.
Vote with those you love in mind, vote with your safety in mind, and vote for those who will be affected for decades to come. Vote for someone who speaks coherently, not for someone who is, letās be honest, not cognitively alright ā and that is the bare minimum of the issue.
If you have anything to add to this post, please do. If anything is incorrect, please let me know and I will gladly change it.
Vote. Vote. Vote.
John Oliver platforms Palestinian voices as he advocates for voting for Harris.
If you live in a swing state, please properly consider your role in this election. Remember to distrust the polls, the projections - the presidential election will be infuriatingly close. Nothing is set in stone.
Please think about your queer friends and family, your community that includes people of colour, disabled people, poor people, immigrants. Evaluate the true historical value of what a protest vote does - compare it to the two candidates, one of which will be the president at the end of this final stretch.
Your vote matters. Please, treat it like it does.
A friendly reminder to USians: if you are planning to vote on Election Day, your mantra is "Nothing I see today convinces me not to go vote."
Exit polls suggest DT cannot be caught? YOU STILL GO VOTE.
Exit polls suggest KH has it in the bag? YOU STILL GO VOTE.
Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly red? YOU STILL GO VOTE.
Pundits are saying the country is swinging overwhelmingly blue? YOU STILL GO VOTE.
Polls can be misleading (intentionally or not). The methodology can be biased (or simply poor). Early results may not reflect what the full count will show. There may be a red mirage. NOTHING YOU SEE CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.
The biggest Democratic win in swing states means nothing if democrats don't turn out everywhere to keep the reliably blue states blue.
VOTE. Wear appropriate weather gear if you think you may have to stand in a line outside (coat, hat, gloves, umbrella, sunhat, whatever, you know where you live). Bring water and a snack and something to do (book, game on your phone, podcast and headphones, whatever, you know what you like). GO VOTE.
NOTHING YOU SEE ON ELECTION DAY CONVINCES YOU NOT TO VOTE.
Okay folks, just want to remind you: The GOP is going to crank up the toxin over the next hundred days, because it doesn't know how to do anything else. This is going to cause a lot of people who were going to vote for them to stop and go "Whoah."
This is not the time to say I told you so. This is not the time to throw the past in their faces. Allow them to become better people.
Yep.
Leave people a way back to the light. No "don't look behind you" bullshit, HADES.
A technically true statement you can offer is, "Yeah, the Republicans used to have some good ideas about supporting business, but lately they've just been... ug."
What do you mean by lately? The last few weeks? Or months? Or years? Or decades? No need to specify.
Also?
Donāt let theory be the enemy of praxis.
I have an aunt. Weāll call her Eloise, which is close enough to her real name. Sheās racist. Not in the āI hate Black peopleā kind of way, but in the way where she was born and has lived her entire life in a podunk town and certain stereotypes and microaggressions are justā¦baked in. She would tell you sheās not racist, and she really doesnāt realize that some of what she says is just. Not great. (The other day she wanted to tell me all about this Black man in a big Cadillac who saw that sheād forgotten her card so he bought her groceries, and how sweet he was. Youāre gonna notice a couple of superfluous details in that story. Thatās the kind of thing Iām talking about.)
Sheās voting Harris this year. She sat 2020 out after changing her registration from Republican to Democrat. Before that she was lifelong for the GOP.
I didnāt change her mind by yelling at her about racist cops and UBI. I did it with two sentences:
āYeah, but whether heās guilty or not, isnāt that for the court to decide, not a cop? G-dā¦.can you imagine that happening to Matt?ā
Matt is her son (and thatās also close enough to his real name). Heās got substance abuse issues and heās in and out of jail.
Two sentences were enough to take George Floyd from āa Black man who was probably highā to āsomeoneās son.ā
And that was enough to make her start asking questions.
And over the years, Iāve thrown in a comment from time to time. Just enough to make her think.
Is she still going to say cringeworthy stuff for the rest of her life? Probably! Would I prefer that she learn better? Yes! Do I consider it a win that sheās come this far? Also yes! Do I consider it a win that sheās respected in her church and has now taken this concept of āwhy are the police assuming guilty until proven innocentā into a place I could never hope to reach? FUCK yes! Do I think that given the choice between āuses microaggressions and votes in a way that will help produce Black-positive policyā and āused microaggressions and votes in a way that criminalizes breathing while Blackā most Black people would prefer sheās the former? At the risk of putting words into the mouths of a community Iām not inā¦YES. An imperfect ally is better than an enemy.
Will she ever be as far left as me? Almost certainly not! Do I think I have room to get her to support more policies I like, like green energy and UBI? Yes! Will I be trying for that? Yes! Is it going to be quick? Probably not! Is it worth it?
YES.
Because you donāt move a hundred miles left by saying āletās let everyone move three hundred miles right, thatāll teach them.ā Now you just have to move 400 miles.
Praxis. Over. Theory.
