Okay, since somebody asked, I think it's important that I post just explaining the issues with TMA and TME.
TMA is a term meaning Transmisogyny Affected. TME is Transmisogyny Exempt.
In its usage, anybody that is not transfem is considered TME; in more extreme cases, anybody that is not a trans woman might be considered TME. I've gotten the sense that I'm getting pretty close to the transandrophobes declaring me TME, as the term is very inconsistent.
Here's the elephant in the room, TME is a slur; it is a new slur, and I've not seen anybody really label it as such yet, so I'm taking some responsibility for making that call and getting the word out.
TME is not used as a helpful, educational, empowering, or even consistent label. What it is used for is solely to attack transmasc and nonbinary people. It exists to silence them, to other them; that is its purpose.
TME is also built upon a falsehood; the truth of the matter is that no trans person, not a single one, is exempt from transmisogyny. We are all affected. People using TME as a term like to claim otherwise, as a means of centering themselves, but the claim is completely unsubstantiated and borders on self delusion.
Knowing this, I believe we need to recognize TMA and TME for what they are, unacceptable terms with no valid usecase, which exist solely to cause harm to our community.

if you ONLY associate "men" or "masculinity" with negative stuff, then youre not gonna be a good ally to trans masc people. while some transmascs can experience gender euphoria from being associated with the negative parts of masculinity, its not really the best way to give them that. "wow, youre really a man cause <negative male stereotype>" might be funny and stuff, but imagine telling a transfem "wow, youre really a woman cause <negative female stereotype>". while it could give someone gender euphoria but its still a product of bigotry.
if you want to be a better ally to trans men and transmascs, you should probably try to appreciate good qualities of men and masculine people in general.

Except they're upset that we're still trying to prove transmascs and those perceived to be transmascs experience unique forms of oppression rather than being upset that it's been 11 years of people not listening to transmascs about their own experiences.
Someone even said that us switching to transandrophobia was to hide what transmisandry was actually about, rather than at least in part trying to find a term that will satisfy these transphobic assholes
Being transmasculine is odd cus on one end of the spectrum everyone is telling you that you're privileged and evil and basically just a cis man (even if you're nonpassing), and on the other end you're watching your brothers being raped and murdered and buried under their dead names while being falsely listed as a femicide. (this faulty documention will be wielded as proof of your privilege)

Atp I'm treating the hate those characters get as straight up racist. I don't care anymore, if you're still making tired borderline racist "jokes" that got stale 10 years ago, I'm treating you like everyone else. Blockhammered.
When I see it, I think of how it makes Black people and Asian people in fandom feel when they see the outsized amount of hate for these characters.
People say it doesn't matter and that they're just fictional characters. But the words we choose to use and how we direct our energy is something other people notice. It has impact on the people around us; a crappy comment about Preston or Marcy isn't just an unfunny joke. It has a ripple effect that tells others you're not safe to be around, which is why it's important to speak up.
It also makes me grateful that Preston Garvey Week is coming soon, and shows how important and needed it is to show up and celebrate Black men, period.
So I had another nightmare.
I have a blood test booked Friday, and I'm absolutely terrified of needles. I hate them a lot. And because of that, I'm terrified of the blood test happening. But I know it needs to happen because they want to rule out if I'm deficient in something.
In the nightmare I went on a tour of the college campus near where I live. For some reason I ended up at where my friend supposedly lived.
This was a funny thing since it was some kind of odd apartment, and they don't even live in an apartment.
I sleep over at their house and when I wake up in the morning it's to a whole slew of upset texts from my stepdad. He's upset about me not saying I was going to sleep at a friend's house.
My friends parents (who are not their parents because there's a dad and the mother is not their actual mother) come to visit them. They're chatting about something and are very happy to meet me, and to see their kid.
Not a moment later, my actual mother just *appears* and there's a box of supplies in her bag.
A BP cuff just materialises around my arm, and my mother opens the supply box. She pulls out an empty syringe.
Notably, she also appears to have like an empty blood bag in there with IV tubes attached to it. I'm focusing on that for a moment before she literally starts stabbing into my arm with the syringe.
There's blood all over my arm at the end of the dream, and I literally woke up clutching one of my stuffies.
I get too many nightmares, but I remember this one vividly. It's not a good time to be alive, for me. I swear I'm trying lol.

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.
