What's your take on Blackstar? He is the final boss of "warrior cats doesn't know how cat fur colors work" he's even worse than any "gray-and-brown" cats cause at least those could MAYBE be explained with tabbies

I made him a siamocha w/ low white spotting, as much as I can get away with on his face without it affecting his paws... which isn't a lot lol. My hc is that ShadowClan has a bunch of "kittypet" genes floating about because (at least in the forest) they mixed a bunch with twolegplace cats n such (also explains the flat muzzle line that is Yellowfang's family). But I've honestly seen all sorts of explainations, even somatic mutations

So the thing with Blackstar is that technically he isn't impossible. Small black patches can drift to the legs of high white spotted cats.

But then again i'd never make him a high white black van lol.

For me, he's at the moment a black point with dominant blue eyes; in my experience regular white spotting will far-far more likely leave alone the face and affect the paws than vica versa. (In fact, i think the best way to determine if a cat is white spotted or not is checking the paws.) The DBE mutations on the other hand very often put white patches on the face and the chin.

Downside of this is that now he's doubly blue eyed (as opposed to the canon yellow. oops), but oh well. i can't win everything. Honestly i'm happy that with incorporating DBE-white, i can get some of the pointed mask off him. I think that's clever.

Also in my heart he has odd eyes, not that you see it. because you know. both are blue.

Marigoldkit Cempasúchil Headcanon

Canon:

This kit and her kit brother are killed by a kitsune (a red fox).

Comments:

The Warriors book series take place in England in the UK and the character's name is Marigoldkit. How do marigolds tie into British culture, whereas they totally tie into Dia de Muertos (10/31-11/2). Therefore, it makes more sense for Marigoldkit to be from Estados Unidos Mexicanos instead.

Fritz the Cat Fur Color and Pattern Guesses

1) White Spotting

Can be tuxedo, mitten, or devoid of white spotting.

2) Base Color Density/Diluteness

Can have either a dilute grey base (grey stripes) or a dense black base (black stripes).

3) Field Color

Whether grey or black base, he can have a brownish, yellowish, or grayish field color. Said field color can also be pale, light, medium, or deep in hue.

4) Inhibitor

Can be a silver tabby (inhibitor) or not (no inhibitor).

El Guante Blanco is a black cat with blue eyes and one white paw. He has clothing similar to Puss (cowboy hat and belt with sword) but doesn't wear boots. He has similar appearance to Kitty Softpaws.

El Guante Blanco even has that single white paw on his right front foot just like Warrior's Squirrelflight/Squirrelpaw.

Genetically Realistically Version

1) He has blueish green eyes instead. Straight-up blue eyes on full color cats with no or low grade white spotting are caused by a mutation. Straight up blue-eyes can also be caused by the white spotting gene in low grade white spotted and in gene present, but not showing. Both are not as rare as they are made out to be, but they are uncommon. Blueish green and even greenish blue eyes are more genetically probable in non-white spotted and low grade white spotted full color cats, so switching his eyes to blueish green makes his design genetically probable while at the same time not totally veering of from his canon look.

2) He has white back paws and white toes on his front paws to go along with the canon white right front paw. There are two genetically probable ways to keep the canon "white-glove," both add white hind mitts, but one is to keep the left paw white, and the other is to add a little bit of white to the left toes. I chose the latter choice.

3) He has a little white added to his lower belly and chest. Cats with white mitts can be totally devoid of white on their undersides, but that would be uncommon unless the white on the toes is minimal.

4) I kept the pink nose because although it is uncommon on a solid black cat in real life, it is realistic.

Hi, so I don’t know how much you know about cat color genetics, but we have a dilute tiger looking boy at work (I work at an amazing Humane Society) and was wondering if you knew anything about that color pattern. I’ve never seen anything like him before and am pretty amazed. I’m just wondering if it’s a rare color pattern, if it’s rarer that he’s a boy, if it’s similar to how dilute works in calicos/torties, etc. I added some pictures for reference.

He looks very much like a dilute tortoiseshell/calico cat to me. I’s just tortoiseshell colours with a dilute modifier and white patches on top, but it is very striking.

Male tortoiseshell cats are very rare because the black and orange color genes occupy the same position on the X chromosome, so to exhibit both colors a cat need two X chromosomes. These male cats may be XXY, or may be XY/XY or XX/XY chimeras.

He probably also has some tabby markings underneath all of that, but most tortoiseshells do. It’s just harder to see on the very black ones.

He may just be a fawn classic tabby. Classic tabbies, whether fawn, cinnamon, chocolate, lilac, grey/blue, or brown/black, are sometimes mistaken for torties or torbies.

I'm not sure if you've answered something like this yet, but do you have any headcanons about Ashley's family (only child? Parents together? Ect)? Or about her relationship with Jack? (Same school? Family friends? Ect)

Hmm, sort of! We can probably assume that Ashley comes from a rich family since 1) we first see her at Jack’s parents’ party, and 2) she has the funds necessary to create genetically altered cats. She strikes me as the spoiled brat type who only steals things for the fun of it, not because she can’t afford it. (Oh nooo, she’d be part of the shoplifting clique on Tumblr, wouldn’t she?)

I’m undecided on her family. On the one hand, she seems spoiled, which implies that her parents give her whatever she wants. On the other hand, they obviously aren’t paying enough attention to notice that she’s running around in a cat suit fighting these Xiaolin Warrior people. She didn’t know Jack Spicer before the series started, considering how surprised Jack looked when she wandered into his basement and how she asked him, “Are you Jack? You’re the kid they’re talking about upstairs?” Her parents are probably coworkers with his parents or something, enough for her to end up at his parents’ party without having met him before.

I do headcanon that Ashley is a LOT smarter than canon or fanon gives her credit. She’d have to be smart to create genetically altered cats that only obey her! She’s probably an expert in animal biology– she and Clay could likely have some really interesting conversations if the opportunity ever arrived. She probably uses the “dumb blonde” and “valley girl” stereotypes to her advantage, pretending to be much less intelligent than she actually is!

These three kittens appear to be cream points, seeing as they have blue eyes and cream faces on a whitish body. All they need for their pattern to be realistic is that their tails, legs, and ears are cream and that they have at least faint tabby markings and/or field color gradiations.
