I've been inspired a lot over time by Things Organized Neatly and What's In Your Bag? And I've been seeing a pattern in the ways I have been coping with things like living through the 2021 PNW heat dome, witnessing the horrific wildfires tear through areas all around the world every year, outfitting locals in my area with replacement clothing after their houses burned down and seeing them left with only the items on their person, among a lot of other big and scary things. So I started curating an every-day-carry of various items to help with small, day-to-day level emergencies. (I also started to do things like pack daily items in a way that would be easy to grab if I needed to leave in a 15 minute window. But that's a whole different post.)

There's definitely the camping/survival type direction you can go with in an every day carry, things like a Fresnel lens or compass, especially if you are in a rural area. However, I think everyone should have one in a "make a bad experience a tiny bit more comfortable" kind of way. Mine includes band-aids, antibiotic ointment, alcohol wipes, an electrolyte tablet, sting relief pad, dental floss, quarters, scissors, extra medication, tweezers, nail clippers, ear plugs, cable ties, safety pins, and a tiny mirror.

I have a sewing kit that I keep in a separate pouch, so you could also include things like some sewing needles, thread, and buttons.

The bag I take with me everywhere, when I can at least, is very heavy. I acknowledge this and understand not everyone wants to drag everything around with them constantly. Some of these thoughts and worries have kind of translated into this sewn pocket pouch idea though, with the hope that a small set of things can go with you in a pocket, bag, or car.

I've helped out a stranger with a headache. A co-worker with a bleeding hangnail. Another with a splinter. A friend that needed to mend a clothing tear. Someone use my gift tin with super glue to temporarily patch an air leak.
