The Agave Fallacy

There has been a lot of hype in recent years over agave nectar as a “natural” and therefore “healthy” sweetener. While it’s low glycemic index cannot be condemned, agave nectar is just as processed as high fructose corn syrup. And don’t trust the “natural” part either – the FDA does not set a standard for labeling products as “natural” and even explicitly discourages distributors from doing so.
