See the main problem is that we've been taught that penies and vaginas are completely alien organs to eachother and not just different shapes of the same parts. So it's hard for people to understand how something can be in between when they don't understand that they're the same base organ. This is also why most people have no understanding of bottom surgery.

I've talked about this before but I think it's a bit funny that the people who recoil at the idea of Chilchuck being a shota character (and an inversion of a lot of shota tropes) tend to give him very "masculine" features like sideburns, stubble, body hair, etc to signify he's an adult, but adult loli characters don't get a similar treatment because people see "feminine" adult features (breasts, curves, wider hips, etc) as inherently sexual.

I don't know, it's just funny that people are fine with Chilchuck because he's more "adult" than "real" shotas but they still have to change him to make less weird, but loli characters are where they draw the line because they can't adultify those same characters without seeing it as sexual and gross.

Quick notes:

Chilchuck does NOT have those features in canon. Half-foots looking nearly identical to human children is a big part of the story and worldbuilding and the only physical traits that seem to set them apart are their big ears and presumably their voices. Chilchuck does not have facial hair or thick sideburns or a tail or whatever, he looks nearly indistinguishable from the children shown in canon.

Half-foot women in Dungeon Meshi are not given this same treatment; if anything, I've noticed that artists who draw Chilchuck this way simply avoid drawing his (ex-)wife or daughters, likely to avoid this exact issue.

I've noticed this a lot from chilaios shippers especially which bugs me because a fundamental part of their relationship is that Laios is the only person in the party who treats Chilchuck as an adult from the get-go while Senshi and Marcille take a long time to see past his appearance.
