Yes we all hate minimalism and we’re all angry that somewhere along the line Something Happened that made white room torture the norm for all of us and nobody’s going to like my theory but I think at least a big part of what that thing was is that it became trendy to be an atheist. It became cool and counterculture to reject all forms of religion and philosophy and call people who were religious mentally ill and insane. Meanwhile the greatest feats of human creativity to ever exist were accomplished by people in religious fervor who believed the act of creation was honoring their faith. They created amazing things because they had the notion that their art was worth something. And now we have an age of people pointing fingers and laughing at a guy who’s painting a mural of Jesus and then going home to their sanitized millennial gray shoebox for a house. I just don’t think that’s a coincidence
Like you have to be a little bit of a madman to be a great creator unfortunately
