"flowery misgenders ralsei antagonistically by calling him princess" is maybe the most dishonest take you can come out with in the chapter where ralsei reacts incredibly positively to being called and encouraged to be a princess by kris. and also just from the fact that ralsei's reaction to being called princess by flowery is not anger, which has been her reaction to basically every other line of his dialogue, and therefore not an emotion she is at all reserved about showing when it comes to things he says that piss her off

yesyesyes. adding onto this, i feel like a lot of people are convinced closeted and questioning trans people are just uncomplicatedly excited about being referred to with terms associated with a gender they aren't even out as. lots of trans people i know (including myself!) have the experience of being really touchy about those kinds of interactions pre-transition, because it's something you're still figuring it out and/or have a lot of complex emotions towards -- a reaction that can definitely be exacerbated by it happening in a way you didn't choose from a person you don't like.

it's SUCH a different experience when it's your best friend saying "you can be this if you want and i accept you :)" vs someone challenging your entire worldview and self-concept saying, essentially, "i know this is what you are and you know i'm right." those two things do not feel the same and probably won't get the same reaction!
