this is an incredibly important lesson to learn and i actually had an argument with my friend about this-

there are two parts to the people of hamilton:

the people of hamilton were incredible people that did a lot for their country. they loved, they laughed and did embarassingly dumb things that we chuckle at now. they helped create brilliant structures, both physical and political. they were intelligent and set the foundation for this country. they had hobbies and enjoyed things just like us.

the people of hamilton sucked. they were slave owners and held biases that would never hold up in the modern age. they were hypocritical, petty, and they hurt the people around them. they were dumb and made bad decisions. they took advantage of people and thought of them as lesser for no other reason than the color of their skin.

and you know what? you can’t separate these two aspects, because these people are human, and therefore both. it’s easy to think of historical figures as flat, one sided characters in a story, because that’s how we’re exposed to them-names in a textbook. but they’re not. bad people do good things sometimes, and good people do bad things other times.

the legacy we leave behind is filled with everything we document for the future, and what matters is that the good overpowers the bad.

also while im bitching. i would like to say that, when people are complaining about cloudflare, they're not saying "no one should use CDNs". it's either complaints about cloudflare as a service provider, or cloudflare as yet another single point of failure. fortunately for that last point there are more web apps using CDNs other than cloudflare than there are web apps using cloud providers other than AWS. loathe as i am to say something nice about akamai.
