like... they were always tied by fate through the prophecy, and they came together with opposing personalities and stayed best friends, despite never needing to. in their first quest, leo constantly worried that he wasn't enough because jason was better, and jason had to assure him that he was great when no one else did. and then through the series, jason was worried over where he belonged both in the world and in his relationship, and leo was there to give advice as he could. their entire prophecy, they were thinking "this line has to be about me- it can't be him, i won't allow that", up until the final moments. after leo's death, jason's attention was on finding leo until he was sent away. after jason's death, leo notices his absence immediately. they were... the definition of best friends → lovers throughout the series, and that would've mirrored the slow burn of percabeth perfectly

valgrace. two sides of the same coin of fate. they mirrored each other so perfectly. jason didn't know who he was, who he wanted to be, didn't have enough fate in himself. while leo thought jason hung the stars himself.

throughout the series, jason constantly comments on leo's abilities. not so much his fire, but leo's technokenisis and intelligence. jason admits he would have died if not for leo's abilities. we don't see that much with any other character. leo is constantly down-graded to "just" the mechanic, but jason, his best friend, never really calls leo 'annoying' or talks about him in the same way we see annabeth and frank talk about him.

leo, of course, sees jason as good. powerful and strong and very hot (and leo is also very heterosexual). but leo never questions jason's loyalty or wonders who jason really is. he just sees jason. his best friend who's kinda dorky and very cool.

this relationship provides stable ground for them. both grew up without a stable home environment and were trained to be pawns. leo questions his worth and his usefullness, while in the same way, jason questions his identity and who he really is. neither boy has a stable sense of self, but we see how they view the other. and that's important.

jason views leo as intrinsically important, intelligent and who the quest would not succeed without. jason knows he would rather die than let leo die, and he acknowledges leo as his best-friend. leo in turn, just sees jason as jason. yes, leo sees how cool and powerful jason is, but to him, jason is someone he trusts, enough to discuss how he views his powers.

anyways, jason and leo were each others stable ground who viewed the other as extremely important and would die for. valgrace should have been canon.
