If you're curious about the fic here it is

If you're curious about the fic here it is
Im pretty sure that the author did this on accident, but it was too funny of a coincidence to ignore

"When do we start to worry?" "Eh, 2027."
I might be alone in this but. If I am picking up a book about queer love in a time of high societal repression where there would be consequences for that kind of relationship, I am expecting some level of repression and pining and longing. forbidden love shit, all that.
And yet. I keep picking up these books where they're like "yes this is a highly researched version of England in the early 1800s, except gay love is highly encouraged in all parts of society" and then it's just fucking whiplash when the rest of the societal norms remain unchanged. this character feels isolated from the people around her, for vague and nebulous reasons because they're all totally allies or members of the community. this society still has strict gender roles even though it's fine to be gay here. what are we fucking doing
Honestly they should put a little bit of info on the cover about that. "Imagine victorian times buy they gays were okay" or something like that. There are times when I'd like to read more realistic work of fiction and sometimes I'm in the mood of something in a style of certain era and I can let some things slips. Anyway I want to know what I should expect to avoid irritation.
Also: please don't make YA so idealistic and don't moralize your reader on everything. I don't need a first person POV telling me that it is irresponsible to cry while laying in the back of a moving car with your head on your gf lap AFTER YOU'VE WITNESSED A MURDER
Actually so funny to me that the Seekers have an 800 year old war veteran elf, an experienced druid of an ancient path, and a battle tested soldier and commander, and they're all looking to a 20 college student who died last week for answers, because he can kind read fantasy Latin and his dad is the BBEG. And meanwhile said dead 20 yo college student is frantically waving his hands going "guys I was busy with my Cantrips 101 class and my dad doesn't talk to me anyways, I have no idea what the fuck is happening."
