"he would not fucking say that" but about injuries. he would not fucking recover that quickly. those scars would not fucking heal like that. he would not be fucking able bodied after that. he would not be fully lucid after that.

pyrrha dve: look, kid. look at me. i know you're kinda reeling right now but before we're swallowed by cthulu i need you to understand that i did fuck your mother. yes i know you just met your father for the first time and hes god or whatever, but so you know you've always been a daughter to me, especially that one time when i killed your mom and also maybe you. it's ok she understood why i did it. all that said i think we should kill ourselves right now. what do you mean you don't want to kill yourself? your mother would have killed herself with me.
I have never before heard Pyrrha speak in my mind with a voice so like a detective's in a pulpy noir.

Mark Rothko - Black no. 8, 1964.
I was inspired by the black-out poems made by @playing-with-colors and decided to apply it to the locked tomb series!
Palamedes my beloved
Gideons first interaction with both of her parents is the two of them fighting… the poor girl she’s been conscious for the first time in nine months to watch a six person polycule all of whom were involved in her conception absolutely implode.
The opening of the fight in question:
Dad: “now, we both know I'm an upstanding guy who would never stoop to torturing you for intel, but you are tied to a chair and I am immortal so like, I can wait for you to be reasonable for a very, very long time :)”
Mom: “I CHARGE YOU WITH ACTS COMMITED WITH INTENT TO DESTROY, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, THE HUMAN RACE—”
Just amazing how all of this came about: nine months on the [Erebos, then the Mithraeum], where Harrow begins her journey into Lyctorhood by vomiting constantly, refers to the sword as "your large steel infant," (pg 31), and while God is explaining what happens to a planet's soul when a planet is murdered, how the revenant is created, she has what might be her first(?) menses (pg. 42).
Harrow goes on to experience constant assault that could be coded in a certain way familiar to a lot of young women attacked by older men (Mercymorn: "What did you say, to make him try to kill you?" (pg 191).
Later she experiences the very unpleasant imagery generated by the Sleeper's pregnancy (and all the failed attempts) while in the River bubble (where she is guided by another mom-coded figure), unaware this is referring to her Gideon, whose mother has been haunting her from that "large steel infant" and once Harrow vacates the premises (her body), Gideon finally emerges and gets a front-row seat to this shitshow where she literally comes out of a closet.
Oh, and Mercymorn who keeps regressing Harrow's age as we count down to the birth of a new character?
Being a mother in this series is a real...well.
Pg. 42, the blood running down Harrow's leg is from cutting into her thigh with her thumbnail- while John explains the consequences of murdering a planet. Can be read as symbolic of the loss of innocence as she is burdened with- one might say metaphorically pregnant with- this new knowledge.
have you seen jimothy of Seattle, the raccoon with a short body? is he okay or is he too silly for a long lifespan?
Hopefully this video clears some stuff up about Jimothy! (There are captions for anyone who needs them)
i think that the parellel in trc about blue and adam being both lonesome, but not lonely is extremely well done.
for adam, he often states how he feels kind of wrong in his friendgroup where everyone except him is from an extravagant family, and has a secure future while he has to work double-hard to achieve his dreams, which are so far away from everything he knew from home. he is accepted, loved, and aided in his friendgroup, but in the end he knows that he's still different.
and in a way, blue feels similar about fox way 300. she loves it there, it is her home with the people who raised her. yet, they are not like her. they all are psychics, they have visions, and they are part of something blue cannot sense. she's never lonely there—maura, persephone, calla, and all the other aunts/cousins/family's friends care for her just like ronan, gansey, and noah do for adam. nonetheless, she feels like an outsider in their world at times, even if she claims that she doesn't care about not being a clairvoyant.
adam and blue are more alike than they might realise in this way because they are both acquainted with a world in which they'll never truly belong.
adam lived in an apartment located above the office of st agnes catholic church, a fortuitous combination that *starts coughing and hacking and then looks down at my hand and sees bright red specks of blood* anyway as i was saying, that focused most of the objects of *keels over and dies*
Wip. I think the resurrection beasts are cool.
Cosplayers at a Star Trek Convention, 1976
in this house we have endless respect for cosplayers from the days before VCRs.
You couldn’t just rewatch the episode to look at all the details of the costume. You got lucky with press photos showing up in magazines or you just watched the episode/movie while sketching furiously
thinking about that one woman who made a Star Wars flight suit in 1977 entirely from trading cards and sketching details in the theater. or stories I’ve heard about old school Trek cosplayers getting the bizarre seam placements right by photocopying magazines onto overhead transparencies and projecting them onto butcher paper.
I’m a semi old school cosplayer (started in 2001) so some of the old school techniques are still things I learned on (I’ve sketched from stuttering VHS tapes on pause and used the overhead transparency trick)… what we have access to now for costume recreation blows what they had out of the water just in terms of reference material, let alone specialty costume supplies like thermoplastics and cosplay wigs.
That Star Wars fan who made the flight suit from trading cards and movie sketches is TJ Burnside and she is still with us. In fact, I am adding to her Fanlore page with info about the flight suit (and how it went viral on Twitter and Redditt a few years back). Fanlore.org, is a fan run fandom history wiki. Stay tuned.
Her (sadly) barebones Fanlore page is here: https://fanlore.org/wiki/T.J._Burnside
The flight suit in question:
oh i'm going to misusle and straight up fuckle this knowledge so badly
i feel so restless today
