“Uprising”
Injustice.
When the powers that be dehumanize
The people that flee for fear of their own lives
Is this really the kind of place we want to reside?
Where the vulnerable are trampled
Under the ruthless heels of monsters that claim to be men
Where the law runs rampant,
And we don’t know which side of it we’re even on
Where the weak are preyed upon?
Is this the future we want for our children?
For them to grow up in a world full of hatred and sin?
For them to witness murder with their own sparkling eyes
And see out of others’ mouths, nothing but vile lies?
Does it not shake us with grief and anger
When people of our own, the human race, is treated with indignity?
Today, it might not be our own problem
But tomorrow? Who’s to say the dynamic won’t change?
When our little girls and boys are thrown into cages, just for existing
When our fathers and mothers are beaten, all black and blue, by ignorant fools
Does it not sicken you? Enrage you?
When the scope of human cruelty can extend to our very own kin?
It’s not just a crime against that man on TV
It’s not just a crime against those people, teargassed and handcuffed
Through and through,
It is a crime against humanity.
Now’s your time to decide
If you wanna be on the right side of history.
So,
What’s your call?
