My roommate accidentally triggered me and I honestly don’t know what to do. It was something that was mentioned as she was on her way out so she doesn’t know that I got triggered, but I ended up dissociating, wandering around campus, and getting lost because of it. It’s been hours and my vision is still foggy from dissociating, so it’s definitely fucked me up today lol. I want to make sure it doesn’t happen again because obviously it’s not a good mindset to be in and my tendency to run off somewhere is genuinely dangerous, but I also don’t want to make her feel bad about it because it’s a really unusual trigger and I know she didn’t mean it.

Obsessive compulsive behavior seems like a possible explanation. I don't want to diagnose someone with anything of course, but it might be worth looking into. I have OCD, and I know intrusive thoughts can sometimes feel real and cause someone to compulsively behave as if they are. It can also cause really random phrases that don't make sense to go through your head. It also often gets worse if anxiety is heightened. My OCD gets a lot worse after a trigger, including my random thoughts symptoms.
