Hello! This post serves as an introduction, as well as an explanation of this blog.

About Me:

My name is Holly-Anne, and I am a 23-year-old author currently living in Massachusetts. I have a degree in English with a focus on creative writing and have been writing since 2014.

My best genres are fiction and fantasy, although I quite enjoy writing across all genres and subject matter.

I also love to engage with fandom content. You can see which fandoms I'm most familiar with here.

About the Blog:

This blog is going to be home to posts of my own original work, as well as works for commission. For details on how to commission me to write for you, keep reading!

If you'd like to commission me to write for you, please send me a direct message here on Tumblr with the details of your request. Once I have all the information regarding what you'd like, I'll share the payment information with you.

My current rate is $10/1000words, and for the time being, there's no upper limit on word count request--however long you'd like, I'll write it.

Usually, I can get a finished piece ready for you within 48 hours (depending on length), and I will share a draft with you where you can make any 3 requests for content changes you'd like.

While I do reserve the right to turn down a commission, I am generally open to writing about any topic at any length, including NSFW content.

I also have asks open and anon turned on. Feel free to submit a request there if you'd like--if there's anything that I find interesting, then I will write that for free so that you can enjoy it.

Happy WBW! What's the harshest part of your world? Be it a place, a law, something character-created or otherwise, what is just HARSH?

Ooh! The harshest part of the world in the mafia piece I'm working on is how people treat their kids.

It's a primogeniture system, largely, and the heirs involved suffer far more than their fair share in order to take over their family businesses.

I think in my main project (My Brother's Keepers), Josie would change the fact that it's so hard to know someone, even the people closest to you.

I know that's not the most exciting answer, but I've been doing a lot of realistic fiction lately so less worldbuilding and more personal drama!

writeblr intro!

hi, i decided to give myself a proper introduction to writeblr so that i can broaden my horizons and hopefully make more friends!

my name is risham, i’m 19 and i am an aspiring author. i write short stories and poems mostly, and i post them occasionally, but i also have a book that i am currently working on.

my poems and short stories are a lot of the time commentary on topics such as abuse, misogyny, and general experiences as a member of the pakistani diaspora.

i read just about anything, but i especially enjoy works by south asian authors or works concerning south asian topics/culture. i’m a big fan of fantasy (high, low, ya, adult, romance—you name it!) and my favourites are asoiaf, lotr & the grishaverse!

summary:

after her uncle stages a coupe and extracts all contenders for the throne, sabah noon is left alone. the last surviving member of a once proud dynasty and its rightful heir, she must find allies in a country incapacitated under tyrannical rule and rally people to her cause.

but deception runs deep in the very foundations of adilistan, and sabah finds herself grappling with more than just a bloodthirsty uncle for her birthright.

notes:

set in a country inspired by pakistan, this is a high-stakes fantasy with themes of self-discovery, challenging the patriarchy, and grief.

there is a romance sub-plot between sabah and a character named rayan. i based him on robin hood in a lot of ways, and he is a twenty year old (same as sabah) with a skin condition implied to be eczema.

the noon dynasty descends from a woman. the robbing of sabah’s birthright works as a commentary on how the patriarchy will always find a way to disinherit women.

it tackles issues in pakistani culture such as violence against women, the trivialisation of female labour, women in politics, family/societal rivalry.

Hello! I'm Wren and I'm new to writeblr. I made this blog to hopefully have some more motivation to write regularly and because explaining my wips really helps me get my thoughts in order. There's only so far ranting at the wall can take you so I'll rant here instead!

About my writing

I write mostly fantasy with lots of queer characters (mostly sapphic).

My writing is more character driven than plot driven.

I write poetry also and might share some.

Titles and naming things are my worst enemy.

About my blog

I am open to tag and ask games! I can't always promise to respond straight away unfortunately.

I have a lot of semi-formed ideas and characters rattling around in the tin can of my brain and even a few (relatively) fleshed out wips.

S.S. Hawthorne

So, I'm doing a re-introduction! I think that it's time to make a new one seeing as I kind of what to rebrand. So, hello! I S.S.Hawthorne. I am a 25 y/o aroace writer of color from Florida.

I've been writing since I was seven and from them on I knew that sitting was something that I actually wanted to do for a living. I love creating new worlds and characters—things that are completely different from our world.

I am a fantasy writer through and through, preferring to make my own worlds as I am able to say what is right and what is wrong—the words that are created do not need to follow the laws of life that we live by. On top of fantasy, I love to write horror, mysteries and romance—often mixing the two together.

🌿 My All Time Favorite Trope:

I love found family. I love the idea of a ragtag group being thrown together only to find home in one another at the end. I love the idea of close friendships and protecting the ones you love with your life. I find it to be comforting and says a lot about how we as people form connections as well.

🌿A Trope I want to see more of:

A trope that I would love to see more in books would be an immortal and human falling in love, but by the end, the human decides to live their human life. As they get older, the immortal and the human decide to only be friends with the immortal coming back every few years to visit, keeping a close connection but respecting the fact that the human wants a normal life. I like the idea of the human changing and the immortal changing, but in different ways. It's bittersweet, and I wish that the human in that kind of dynamic had more of a choice in what they did in their lives.

🌿A Trope I hate:

The "not like other girls/boys" characters. Every character is unique, yes, but I would rather not be whacked over the head with it 1000 time until I'm out into a word coma. I think there are better ways to show that your characters are different from others and this also gives your audience a chance to get to know them through their actions. Your audience isn't a bunch of bumbling idiots, they don't need you to spell it out for them. Let the characters speak for themselves.

🌿My WIP:

After a life of trials and tragedies, Skye has finally found someone that wants him—a place in which he can call home now. After being adopted into a well to do family, Skye finally has the life that he has always wanted. He has two loving parents that only want the best for him, and he can finally be a teenager. He can finally enjoy his last year of school as he had always hoped for, but what If this life isn’t all that it seems?

As he starts to grow closer to a group of mysterious and strange students, he starts to move away from his parents and what he has been told—he starts to slowly dig up his own past, wanting to find out where he came from and who he truly is. With the help of his friends, will he be able to uncover the mystery of his true lineage.
