putting salt in ur water also works. been doing this for a while after I kept pulling a muscle from dehydration cramps lol. there's info on the correct amount for different needs but if u feel really bad from heat exhaustion mixing 9 grams of salt in 1l water and drinking thru the day could save u cus it's the same as what u would be getting injected with in hospital. if u already eat a lot of sodium be wary of that but if ur like me and cant eat much when its this hot it can rly help. if u have any conditions being monitored ask ur doctor if it's alright

The recruiter will tell you you're special and will go into special smart soldier programs instead of combat. They're lying.
The recruiter may tell you they can tell if someone can get PTSD or not and only recruit people like you, who won't. They're lying.
The recruiter may tell you you'll be too busy attending free college (!!) to go overseas. They're lying.
The recruiter may ask what countries you want to travel to and promise you bougie placements on military bases in those countries. They're lying.
Even "It's just four years!" is a lie - the government is allowed to hold you past your enlistment period with a stop-loss order.
The recruiter actually has zero power to decide anything that happens to you after you enlist and they more importantly don't care what happens to you.
If you enlist, you will be brainwashed to make you willing to do things to other humans that you would never be willing to do today.
You will be ordered to do things that will kill children. And you'll do them.
The military is not the only way or even the best way for you to go to college or start a career.
Military brainwashing will actually make you into a terrible university student because it degrades your ability to think critically and question your sources.
Having PTSD and/or a TBI will make it harder to be a student and keep a job.
Veterans' benefits suck these days.

Even if all the person you're speaking to cares about is the money, the money sucks.
Minimum wage in California just went up to $16.90. You need to be rank E4 or be E3 with at least 3 years of service before you're making more than the CA minimum wage in the military.
You will literally get better pay and benefits working at a costco. (And that's not even accounting for the fact that the military isn't a 40 hour work week, your entire life is on the clock)
I cannot emphasize this enough, if you're a desperate young queer person you will make better money, get better healthcare, and have more affordable options for school if you move to California, get a job at costco, live with roommates, and go to community college than you will have if you join the US military.

That post about butch and femme being "which one of you is capable, and which one of you is the woman" has been bouncing around my head for days now at this point.
I didn't get to choose how I was raised. My upbringing was hauling rocks and digging holes, cutting grass and hanging drywall. I was beat frequently and severely. I now have the unenviable skill of being able to dismiss all of my body's complaints until a job is done. These other girls talk about being "failures" of men and I can't relate. I was too good at being a "man" in the sense that a man can be broken into being a workhorse. I understand the How's and the Why's of the current association of trans femininity with the shut-in neurotic, but that experience is completely alien to me. Even my mother held down a job and helped out with the manual labor in addition to raising four children, there were no illusions of simple domesticity in our house.
Among my friends, I'm always one of strongest, mechanically-minded, capable, practical, and bull-headed of them. I was helping friends move over the weekend and one of them quipped that "Oh thank goodness, a real butch has arrived." Lately it just feels like another box I need to get out of. As if my identity is somehow stored in sneakers and cargo shorts. No matter how much estrogen I take, people take one look at my work knife and loudly proclaim "This woman is masculine".
I don't know how to get out of the box at this point. I don't know what else I can do. I can't change any more than I already have.

The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.

so one of the largest open source data communities on the internet, data.world, got bought out by a company called ServiceNow, who has decided to fucking delete all of it by July 11th. they've given users barely any notice, no emails, just a fucking banner at the top and a blog post from June that gives barely a month to download your data before they fucking delete it all.
a bunch of archives of incredibly important government datasets like maternal mortality statistics are about to be deleted forever. in a regime where they're known to fudge numbers, we can't trust a lot of the data coming from them to not be altered. open source backups like those found on data.world are vital to being able to verify that the data coming from our government is still intact and not altered. and they're about to delete all of it.
i don't know if we need to start a petition or what. nobody seems to fucking care. there are millions of users on data.world and yet nobody is raising the alarm bells and it makes me feel like I'm going insane. somebody needs to do something. i don't know what to do. it feels like more and more of this world is being destroyed and dismantled. it's not only US centric data, either! it's all sorts of countries from around the world! and they're about to fucking delete everything.
the only things that won't be deleted are private companies who happen to use the paid version of their platform (which isn't accessible data to the open source community; some people have just been using their service to host their own data on privately)
and the kicker? this announcement was made... via an AI generated blog post. so not even any sort of human touch. just a generic, soulless announcement made by a soulless human about to take a wrecking ball to one of the more important websites that exists on the internet.

There are over 3500 respectable data repositories on one respectable global registry; to a researcher there’s no point in data existing if not findable; if you’re trying to find a new home for your dataset, start there

☝️🤓 it’s because the further you move toward the earth’s poles, the lower the angle of the sun is at the hottest parts of the day, meaning the radiation hits your whole body, causing it to feel 10-20 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading will tell you. People from tropical climes, aka close to the equator, are used to the sun’s radiation hitting a much smaller target- their head and shoulders.
Also the further you move toward the poles the more pronounced the difference between the length of day and night is. Worst part of a far-north (or south) heatwave is it doesn’t get dark long enough for meaningful cooling.
Mother’s Day passed in many parts of the world, and people celebrated all over. However, over Mother’s Day weekend Hamza’s family’s fundraiser was taken down by gofundme. They now have to start from square one all over again.
