For my non uk followers wondering wtf is going on:

- prime minister is a cunt. Had like a bajillion scandals

- latest one was apparently one two many. Two extremely important cabinet members resigned within minutes of each other

- within the next 24 hours about a third of the government resigned

- one resigned live on tv. Five resigned with the same letter to save time

- previous record for government resignations within 24 hours was 6 and it it was in the 1930s. We are, as I’m writing this, on 45 resignations

- Michael Gove, another cunt who is hated by all, was going to resign but was sacked instead in what appears to be the prime minister going “you can’t quit you’re fired!”

- government meetings are being cancelled because there is literally nobody in those departments anymore

- despite literally everyone begging him at this point to leave, including his most loyal little evil henchman, prime minister is refusing to resign in disgrace as is traditional for British prime ministers

- prime minister genuinely seems to be in complete denial anything serious is happening

- people are calling for Larry the Cat, no. 10’s chief mouser to be the next prime minister. When asked for comment, he licked his arse on live television

I am an unabashed fan of swords, but it is genuinely tragic how slept on warhammers are as symbolic weapons

Swords in a historical context were analogous to sidearms - built for flexibility of use and ease of transport, as well as taking on the role of a status symbol in a lot of feudal and early-modern societies. They are inextricably tied to notions of heroism in most cultures, yes, but also to concepts and institutions such the nobility, monarchy, and the existence of a wealthy warrior class. The role of a sword as a weapon of choice in fiction, then, serves as a subtextual elevation of the user’s importance; they have been marked out by destiny, the divine, social expectation, circumstance, or any other number of things, as special. Important. Powerful.

Warhammers in the European tradition were a response to advancements in plate armor technology: by the late Middle Ages, plate armor granted such significant protection to those lucky enough to lay their hands on a full suit that they posed an almost insurmountable threat to an unarmored fighter with armed with only a sword, club, or rudimentary spear. Late-medieval full plate is one of the purest symbols of power projection and power preservation in military history— in fiction, they armor the status and power of the sword, stripped of the romantic and heroic ideals granted to the sword by its storied history.

As a weapon specifically designed to respond to and defeat plate armor, the warhammer can be viewed as its symbolic antithesis: where plate armor embodies the idea of unassailable strength and martial dominance, the warhammer as a weapon evokes the destruction and dismantling of said strength— a weapon designed to pierce, tear apart and sunder the idea that being powerful and being untouchable are synonymous. Where the sword symbolizes elevating a person to power, and plate armor symbolizes power seeking to perpetuate itself, the warhammer symbolizes the leveling of tools and structures that would convince us that power cannot be challenged.

Padawan Lineage from Dooku to Tano going forward to the Empire and have to work together to get back to their times

Buckle up folks, ‘cause this is a long one

time-travel au where 18 yr old Padawan Dooku, 16 year old Padawan Jinn, 13 year old Padawan Kenobi, 9 year old Padawan Skywalker, and 4 year old Initiate Tano (who Skywalker ran into in a hallway and latched onto him when the force rippled) end up getting launched forward in time together to a time between Ep. 3 and 4 in an abandoned temple and have to work together to get back to their own times while avoiding them empire and coming up with a plan to end the sith in their times

Qui-Gon is def wondering how his Master got deaged.

This is after Obi-Wan became his padawan

And Vader KNOWS that he can’t kill any of them

VERY VERY TALL DOOKU PUSHING ALL THE KIDS BEHIND HIM BECAUSE OF DANGER

They're all padawans except Ahsoka

VADER REDEMPTION THROUGH NOT ACTUALLY BEING ALLOWED TO KILL THESE KIDS

He has to help them get home

Even though he really wants kenobi dead

Bc then the timeline will get completely derailed. And it may actually rip a hole in the space-time continuum

Vader has poor impulse control and lots of self-loathing

He might just do it anyway

He may also want to kill himself to put himself out of his misery

but ahsoka is there and he just...can't

Vader knows he can't kill his younger self. And Tiny!Ahsoka gives him all the feels in his otherwise cold, dead heart.

Even though he really wants kenobi dead

Imagine Dooku, Qui and Ani's reaction to Vader being like. Unnecessarily mean to Obi. Even meaner than he is the rest of them.

When they find out Vader is Ani...and Obi-Wan put him in the suit

Qui-Gon: "Is this what makes you feel big and powerful? Pushing around a 13 year old? This is what you need to feel worthy?"

Little Ani asking: "What happened that was so bad I decided to give myself another chain?"

Tiny Obi-Wan, hugging Tiny Ani: "I'd never hurt you, I promise I won't, not ever, I'll keep you safe forever--"

LINEAGE FEELS

Ani: "I won't do it. I promise. I won't chain myself again. I won't hurt you. I promise. I promise. I promise."

Kinda want them all to go back to their timelines with a plan to derail the sith's plans. Like the sith have been planning this for 1000 years they're going to need time to derail all that. So when Qui-Gon goes back things are different because Dooku remembers him and has been doing his part. When Obi-Wan goes back, it's the same thing with Qui-Gon. When Anakin and Ahsoka go back, it's the same and Dooku hasn't fallen. That could be a whole nother sequel.

And then the sith had to adjust their plans to fit their actions and everything is so DIFFERENT

A favorite trope of mine, rarely used in fandom: someone choking back tears of their own while they comfort a crying child.

I want protective "i have to be the protector/defender of these kids" young Dooku, with "I have to follow the will of the force while protecting these kids even though i just want to lean on this young version of my master" young Qui-Gon, with "idk what I'm doing and i want to curl up with my master, but these two little kids need me to be brave" young Obi-Wan, with "recently freed slave not sure who to trust only dealt with grieving Obi-Wan and Jedi who don't want him but needs to protect ahsoka" young Ani who also just wants someone to hug him, with young "recently brought to the temple but too young to really understand what's going on and is just scared" little Ahsoka.

Oh, and the longer after they return, the more their original timeline memories start to feel like someone else's life!

The five desperately try to live on the run for a bit, but they have no way of getting off coruscant easily and are kinda slumming it in the tomb of the temple for a good week or so trying to get news or figure out what happened

In Legends the temple was a light-side nexus turned dark by the death of so many force sensitive younglings. In disney the temple is ontop of a sith shrine.

Either way

It's a bad place for young force sensitives to squat.

Dooku finding out he became a Sith Lord who was killed by Anakin. Qui-Gon learning how he died. Anakin learning he killed Dooku and then became a Sith. Obi-Wan (and maybe Ahsoka though how much she understands is debatable) learning they probably died in a massacre

hogwarts secrets

the ones that weren’t mentioned because they weren’t relevant to harry’s story

there’s a book in the library with no title on the spine, and if you tap it with your wand, a secret reading room opens up in which many tired ravenclaws have fallen asleep halfway through their books

the fat lady actually knows who the gryffindor students are even though she requires a password, and when a hufflepuff student carried their intoxicated friend up to the gryffindor tower and asked for entrance, the fat lady obliged

yes, there’s a portrait of cedric diggory in the hufflepuff common room, and every year on the anniversary of his death, students from all houses are welcome to join the cedric and the hufflepuffs

there’s a spell that one student created one year to stop the staircases from moving, but it’s been passed down and down so nobody really knows what it is anymore

one year a bunch of students started using the room of requirement to sell pens

for a long time the hufflepuffs were referred to by most people as “hufflepussies” due to the simply untrue stereotype that they’re weak and dumb (again,, simply untrue) and it took a while but people finally started realizing that hufflepuff house is in no way inferior to the others, though a few people still maintained their prejudice

the sorting hat, contrary to popular belief, does not spend the whole year coming up with its new song—instead it stays in dumbledore’s office and is consulted about certain matters from time to time

slytherin house votes on their biweekly password

one year a bunch of students learned how to use permanent ink and signed a specific wall in hogwarts, which has since been covered up but if you move a few specific portraits, you’ll find the names of hogwarts alumni etched in various different handwritings

when it snows, the hogwarts grounds are perfect for magic sledding

there’s a portrait of a kind-faced lady on the bottom floor of hogwarts that most people don’t know about, but if you ask nicely, she will open to reveal another staircase leading to the basement of hogwarts—a room very few people have discovered

muggles can be in hogwarts, but have to be escorted onto the grounds by an approved witch or wizard (anyone the headmaster or headmistress allows, so the hogwarts professors)

in the summer before term, parents of muggle-born children are invited to hogwarts for a tour and informational event

peeves has been at hogwarts since the founders era and has some special magic that makes him impossible to get rid of

after the battle, the very few seventh year students who chose to come back as ghosts enjoyed the hogwarts graduation they didn’t get the chance to experience

there’s a long-standing tradition for the seventh years to organize a scavenger hunt for the first years, who have little knowledge of the hogwarts eccentricities, during the first week of school

and a tradition for the rest of the school to organize a graduation party for the seventh years during the last week of school

(both done without the professors’ knowledge, though most of them turn a blind and reminiscent eye)
