Bad times at the El Royale
This is not what I was expecting.
I had just seen the trailers, I couldnt figure out quite the vibe for the movie. When I watched im still not 100% sure of the vibe but it didnt matter at all. At all.
The characters are each equally developed there is no one main character, this really adds to the movie as you have no fucking clue who will live or die first. Always fun. The story concentrates on some of them more than others at different times.
Like you start off thinking John Hamm's charcter might be in it for the long haul and then you get an hour into the movie.
Personally I like the plot, its a little bit random and its a collision of literally everyones problems but it works. Each layer of the story was added and introduced adding more and more issues, some were added later in the movie than I thought (Chris). There were a few moments when you thought it was a little bit slow or unnecessary but they werent over powering.
I liked how it was filmed, classy.
But my God Cynthia can sing.
Venom
Going in I was a little worried already, they'd cut loads of footage (so I'd heard). Was I going to miss the film? Was it going to suck?
There answer is no but with a little bit of yes in there. The film had a story line - it just needed to be better more thourough. The first part felt like there was no story to speak of and when it does kick off there no real explinations and some part of the plot get left (sadly) behind. Its easily watchable but your aware while your watching that it could have been more.
That said I like tom hardy as venom not his fault the plot isnt all there, I think he does well with the whole making you feel like theres two people instead of one. Cause ya know 'we are venom'.
Cinematography wise some of its it graphically amazing other parts are a little meh. The animation is pretty asounding on the most part and if your a comic fan its what you always imagined venom to be (at least I did).
Watch it if you want but its not a must watch, although I think the second with Carnage might be better. Fingers-crossed for that.
Jack Ryan
So I binged watched 8 episodes. It was time well-spent as far as I was concerned. The actor who plays Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) is perfectly suited, tall brooding stoic and incredibly righteous.
The graphics are both good and kinda dissappointing some of the explosions are over done but it doesnt draw attention or bother me.
The story is where it gets super intresting and worth watching. The bad guys are usually painted as bad guys, cold heartless instead we follow him just like any other character. Its humanising showing him caring a family, letting you see reasons behind 'why?'. It adds to the story and is what makes it worth while watching.
MI: Fallout
One of them is going to be the last, because it will get worse. But not this one. Its exactly what you'd expect from a MI film, its got an issue thats worse than the last films and car (and motorbike obviously) chases to live off.
So the new film sees thankfully character develpment, enough so we get to tie off loose ends and learn about Hunt's past. Simon Pegg lightens the movies that have become alot less funny over the years, without him it would be a LOT more depressing. Henry Cavill is new on the MI films but a good and needed addition with decent acting superman is most exceptional in the fight scenes.
The plot. Its always predicatable and fallout was no different with the bad guy revealed pretty early on. Still even with the predictabilty of the end result and knowing who your rooting against (or for) its good to know the film still can shock. A few twists thrown in makes the film otherwise MI films would just get to similar.
Do you like the other missions impossible films? Yes? You'll enjoy the action and guessable ending.
Do you like the other missions impossible films? No? Dont bother then, this films isnt going to attract many new fans just the same ones.
Incredibles 2
Obviously it was going to be incredible. After the years it could have been just them argueing on a family holiday and I would have been thankful. But it wasnt. It was better than that.
Its less about Bob unlike the first film, more about Helen. Which is great; shows how Helen has to go out there and Bob has to learn to becone a dad. Like has to learn quick.
Its not all about the superpowers though which is good, we get more of the kids lives which is good as it develops there character. And Bob has to deal with the kids lives which seems to be a struggle.
The villian is emotional and had genuine reasons and backstory. They're given more life than some villians because we learn so much about them. Basically good storyline, its obvious but its meant to be.
Dont get me started on the animation, we all know about the animation. Hope it would be bloody good after spending so damn long making it. But it was so I can rest in peace.
Worth the wait. Jack-Jack + Edna is my favourite.
“Finally, every single character from the first issue of ‘Avengers’ is here on the big screen.” Watch this brand new featurette for Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In theaters in two weeks. Get tickets: https://www.fandango.com/AntManAndTheWasp
Dead excited for this but UK release not until later. So waiting *patiently*.
Infinity war
Oh my god.
I'm still computing, it hasn't hit me. I don't think my brain has caught up.
But wow. Holy shit wow.
It drags you in, the story pulls you in sure it's a little disappointing not all the characters you want meet but it's a damn good story. And as for the cast we all know the cast; I have no complaints as far as the cast go.
It's funny, the kind that makes you giggle. It is action packed the kind that makes you lean forward a little. An excellent villian because he written so well you become accepting of what he wants because he believes in it so much.
But still just wow.
My entire high school sinking into the sea
Like wtf
Like was this made my Tumblr? Or someone high af? Its funny in a way that made me feel like one of my friends wrote it not quite serious more like each conversation got her side tracked.
Love, Simon
So I went and saw the early screening with some doubt but Oh my god. Its soo engaging like who is Blue? I thought it was going to be a bit too romantic for me but it’s funny and nice to watch.
It so true as well, obviously not all of it but it reminds you how hard it is to come out with the truth. God the characters are good at one point I felt soo bad for the on screen character, you just want him to stop and shut up. You feel the akwardness. It’s cleverly filmed almost like a murder mystery or something and engaging throughout.
Also that plot twist though.
“P.S.: It doesn’t seem fair that only gay people have to come out.”
Love, Simon (2018) dir. Greg Berlanti
So going to watch the early showing soooo hyped
Black Panther
So it's good. I mean the story is accurate and the movie is both funny as well as eye opening. It makes you very aware of the problems faced by humanity in the real world as well as making light of everything. For me it wasn't as funny as Ragnarok but a lot more thought provoking.
Black Panther defiantly had some stronger character than others but overall they were all well developed with some being entertaining while others more serious.
Just why is Martain Freeman American? Why?It not that he's a bad American but he's a good brit too. But disappointed we didn't see more of Andy Serkis but I get it's what the story needs.
I would see it again for sure it made me laugh and we get to know the black panther character more. Stay till the very end.
THREE WEEKS UNTIL ‘BLACK PANTHER’!
Omg So ready for this
The greatest showman
Sure the songs are similar but so catchy. They may not all be different but they stay with you and God I need the soundtrack now.
Zac Efron singing again is amusing from his HSM days but he can sing. The story is nothing like reality buts completely engaging, you don't always like the main character which is something I struggled with because..er..Hugh Jackman. The choreography to a few songs I thought was actually Perfection.
Totally recommend I wasn't sure going in but once I'd seen it the music was great and it was funny even in the moment where it shouldn't be (like elephants to the end).
Star wars: The last Jedi
I'm not huge fan of the new reboot to begin with but of course I was going to go see it. What can I say they effects were nice and it looks so realistic. The story is less easy to congratulate as it makes very little sense, at least to me.
Skywalker doesn't want more jedi's? The Jedi who determindly became one? Yoda coming back with wise words.
It was never going to be comparable to the old movies but I would say the characters don't seem quite right anymore. Even new characters seem to change personalities. Of course I'd say watch it anyway 😄
Jumanji: Into the jungle
Get ready to laugh and laugh some more. One of Kevin Hart's better movies where he plays a hilarious roll very well. There are very few serious moments and they are completely overshadowed by random funny shit. Just go see it to watch the Rock poke his arm in wonderment of muscles or Jack Black playing a women. He did this very well, while teaching us not to live on our phones.
Yeah that message didn't stick but Oh well.
Karen Gillan is a bad ass, I want her next to me in a fight any day. The whole thing was comedic and unserious, not as good as the original for me but I would recommend for a laugh.
Note: Jaguars are vicious af
Last night, the cast of #Jumanji were in London for the UK Premiere!
Going to see this in an hour 😍
