Honest (SPOILER) thoughts regarding the GO finale, I think a valuable piece of writing people are kinda overlooking is the INCREDIBLE subversion of their main motivations
Like we as the audience are lead to believe from the start that Crowley is this jaded, cynical little fucker who’s fond of one person and one person only. The typical “nothing in this world matters except you” grumpy who doesn’t give a shit about a universe that rejected him. Aziraphale, likewise, is pretty easily seen as the bigger picture guy, it’s obvious he loves Crowley deeply but it’s the mission of the larger world, the good of the people, that draws his time and energy- he chooses that responsibility more than Crowley. These are the roles we’ve seen them play and the archetypes we’ve kinda locked them in to. It matches with their grumpy vs sunshine attitudes, their aesthetics etc
Then in s2 we started noticing some cracks in it. We’ve met Angel Crowley who is a beautiful sunshiny dreamer who cares so deeply about the gorgeous world around him. Aziraphale starts to get a bit wrapped up in his own self interest from time to time, caring more about his bookshop or Crowley or even Jim than his larger mission. These little moments added depth to their characters, but ultimately didn’t shake our ideas of them. But THEN-
When they were asked by God what they would save, everything in the world has been stripped from them. The universe is lost- all that remains is each other and the final question of “what in the whole of existence matters to you most?” And we think we know what they’ll say, we think the way we’ve been taught all this time- Crowley is the selfish lover and Aziraphale is the heartbroken rejector.
But instead we meet their cores. We meet the truest stripped down versions of themselves and we learn the truth. Aziraphale picks Crowley. His lover, his life, the being that completes him. He makes the selfish, or loving, choice, no matter what it means to the world. And Crowley- Crowley is crying for the world. He is so utterly helplessly desperate for humanity to have their chance that he’s willing to throw away everything out of his sheer love for them. We’ve met the old part of him again, the artist and the lover, the selfless one he’s had within him all along. And for Aziraphale we’ve finally met the lover in him too, the one who’s finally willing to put his love for Crowley above all else.
I don’t know but I think it’s absolutely beautiful to get to know characters that you thought had these black and white motivations, only to discover that when it all comes down to it, they are capable of throwing everything we assumed about them out the window. There’s no black and white or even grey, but a whole world of mixed up colours and choices that make them whole. The sinful Angel and the selfless demon to the last.
Does anyone have reading list for Barry allen?
I love the bby boy and I get overwhelmed anytime I think of just diving in without any reading guide, so if anyone has a comic reading list for Barry allen that would be great!
this is from the top of my head so if you want more detail pls let me know!! ok so, to start i would recommend either the new 52 which is the flash from 2011 (the first half of it by francis manapul and brian bucchellato) or the flash rebirth from 2016 (by joshua williamson and not to be confused with the 6 issue the flash rebirth comic from 2009 by geoff johns)
you don’t need to know anything going into the new 52 and although rebirth is a continuation if the new 52 comic, it also works well as a place to start if you don’t want to go all the way back to 2011!
when it comes to pre new 52, you should also read the flash rebirth (2009) at some point as well. personally i don’t think it necessarily works THAT well as a place to start just cause you’ll probably be confused about who some of these people are 😭 but if that doesn’t bother you, you can go right ahead with that one at any point as well. after that there is a short flash run from 2010 by geoff johns which leads into flashpoint!
there are many different ways to read these runs if you want to read them physically (trade paperbacks, deluxe editions or probably the easiest way these days is omnibuses although they’re quite expensive…) otherwise reading them online also works really well i’m sure!
you can also always start from the very beginning, that is to say, showcase #4 from 1956 which is barry allen’s first appearance. after #4 you’d read #8, #13 and #14 of showcase before starting from the flash #105 from 1959. the first barry allen adventures have been collected in ”dc finest: the flash the human thunderbolt”
if feel like this might already be long, sorry, but if you have any questions whatsoever please ask away!!!

fandom is a lot more fun when your goal isn’t to be “that big, popular account” within the fandom but just to have fun and talk about what brings you comfort and happiness by the way
the more i watch star trek tos, the more it becomes abundantly clear that the reason why modern trek doesnt get kirk at all is because they dont utilise mccoy nearly as much anymore
in modern trek, they always present the idea of logic vs emotion, with spock being logic and kirk being emotion, but thats not how tos has it. in tos, the logic vs emption debate is spock vs mccoy. kirk is supposed to be the mediator between the two, sometimes siding with one side over the other, sometimes finding a middle ground between the two. thats why hes the captain, hes able to see all angles and pick the best course
when you make kirk the emotional one, it completely breaks the format, because 9 time out of 10, it means kirk has to be correct. theres no more balance
mccoy is just as important to tos as spock is, and while i do understand why spock is as popular as he is, without mccoy, the show doesnt work. you need them both. kirk spock and mccoy are the three leads of the show, and removing one requires you to change the others, which is whats happened to kirk
"Prost also recalls joking with Ayrton Senna about acquiring the team, since his negotiations with Ligier had already begun while the motorsport icon was still alive. He passed away on May 1, 1994, following an accident at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola. “About a week before the accident, we talked on the phone and I said to Ayrton: You know, it would be funny if one day I had a racing team and you drove for me. We laughed about it. Even back then, I was negotiating the acquisition of the team with Ligier. That was at the start of the 1994 season. It would have been fantastic.” - Alain Prost, 2015
"It would have been nice to have Ayrton in my car, it would have made me happy" - Alain Prost at ProstGP, 1999

Prost: At the start of the season, the car was perhaps not very good and sure, he is Senna, but it's still difficult.
Jouve: "He is"?
He is, yes. I still say "he is". (small laugh) I'm struggling.
You liked him very much?
I did like him very much! It's all part of... You know, you can hate at times, and certainly it comes from love and respect. I respected him and I believe we shared an affinity that we both recognized but which was almost unacceptable in the mediatized and very though world of motorsport. All this while being extremely different. What would it have been had we been a bit more similar!
