Fuck this noise about ‘Team Mom’ Shane. That man is an airport dad. His hobbies include reading biographies and investing in real estate. His car is reliable in the snow. He built his own cottage and is really excited to tell you about the well. He grills. His idea of fun is staring at a fire. He will lecture you about smoking. He hired a stylist because he doesn’t care about clothes. He must know the itinerary ahead of time. He folds his clothes before sex. The white socks stay ON so his bare feet don’t touch the hotel floor.
Look me in my eyes and tell me he wasn’t waiting for Ilya in that airport parking lot at least 3 hours before his expected arrival time. Airport Dad Shane is my truth.
ahhh they’re so cute I love them :,)

“your face isn’t even in it, Hollander. calm down.”
celestia is such a funny character like she's constantly manipulating twilight and friends to do shit instead of just asking and you could arguably frame that as being bc she's a "god" and pushing fate to her design or whatever, except that she engages with the group like a normal and relatable person, which makes it more like villainous machinations, except 90% of this manipulation goes towards things like "I don't want my party to be boring shit again. put my little country girl blorbos in there with zero prep so they fuck it up bad"
you think you've fucked anything up around princess celestia and she's like heh. no worries. all according to keikaku
Celestia instantly makes more sense as a character when you ignore the princess stuff and remember that she's a 1000+ years old wizard. Of course she does manipulative trickster stuff to teach moral lessons and/or cause chaos to amuse herself, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course sometimes she's actually socially awkward and bad at personal relationships and has bad ideas that she thought were good that result in her eating shit embarrassing style, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course she lets the aristocrats and nobles run around being assholes she's still running on wizard advisor programming, she's basically trying to merlin the entire upper class of equestria instead of just a king and some knights. "Yeah uuhhh we'll release the incarnation of chaos himself from his ancient prison because we think this shy girl can be friends with him", terrible plan if you're thinking like a ruler, amazing plan if you're thinking like a wizard. Just look at Canterlot 'Castle' for five seconds and ask yourself if that's in any way a castle. No. Wizard tower, yes. Wizard.
You are so right actually

every time i start to feel cringe for being too deep in the hyperfixation i remember the intense depression i have waded through and have to remind myself that enjoyment is fleeting (so grab it with both hands), and life is for loving (so hold that love close), and if anyone thinks i’m cringe they must not be having a very good time (and i hope they can find a good time soon).

i have tried a bunch of times to write this up into something proper but it never comes out right so you can get whatever this is. sorry for rehashing the lawsuit arc but it's my favourite.
bobby is a childless parent and buck is a parentless child but you can get more specific than that and point out that they're missing the same period of time of those relationships. i'm not doing the full maths but Bobby jr. was around 11 or 12 when he died and Maddie tried her best (as a child herself) to nurture Buck until she left when he was again around 11 or 12. so when buck and bobby meet they jump into a father/teen dynamic. bobby literally teaches buck to tie a tie, did we miss him teaching him to shave off screen? i'd believe it.
so when i look at the lawsuit arc what i see is teenage rebellion. buck is pushing at the edges of bobby's love for him. he grew up with with parents who had one specific condition for their love and he failed that before he could talk. so now he does have an adult who does love him without conditions and truly wants the best for him he can't understand that there aren't edges this time, that bobby will love him regardless, because when there wasn't edges before it was because there wasn't love. but as an adult he has access to much more permanent and destructive means of rebellion than stomping to his room and slamming his door, even though that's essentially what he's doing.
as for bobby, there's obviously the guilt over being the cause of buck's harm (he wasn't) which gets all mixed up in his guilt over the apartment fire. then on top of that, he's a father trying to stop his child from making his mistakes. it's my understanding that most parents have a moment during their child's teen years where they realise they need to make their own mistakes because that's how you learn and grow. bobby is an amazing father but he didn't get the opportunity to get that far before now and he handles it clumsily.
but both of these things, teenage rebellion and trying to prevent mistakes, are essential parts of having a healthy, adult, parent/child relationship. without the events of season 3a buck and bobby wouldn't have been able to have the relationship they have. buck needed to trust bobby would always love him and bobby needed to trust buck would at least try and make good choices for himself. it's heartbreaking, honestly.
"kids are so whiny and annoying" you want them to be dependent on adults and obedient and silent and convenient but also independent and not needing anything but also without any sense of autonomy and agency but also going outside and getting off their damn phones but also staying inside so they don't get into trouble but also recognizing they have it good but also that the new generation is mindless and stupid but also just say what they want in clear and emotionally mature words but also stop asking for things AND you want them to not be pissy about it? get real
do you think the catholic church effectively utilized wokeness by funneling money into the colonization and rape of the americas after issuing the doctrine of discovery which effectively legalized the subjugation of indigenous peoples?
This is why Pride is not just a party. It's a joyful celebration, but it's also a pointed and colourful two-finger salute to a world that stood back whilst so many of us died. And we'll never go quietly, never again.
they could’ve had way more fun with the eddie uber driver thing post return to la if everything else didn’t happen. the whole team are on a night out and when it’s time to leave buck is like i think i’ll just book an uber home and gets his phone out smiling to himself. two minutes later eddie’s phone goes off and it’s a venmo notification from buck for $5 and a note with his address on and an obnoxious smiley face :))))). eddie’s just like get in the damn car. he drives buck to bedford street though. obviously.
