I accidentally unpinned my intro post like an idiot (I was trying to redo it) and can’t find it, so just disregard it and consider this the new official intro post.

Hi, I’m changing up my intro post a bit, so bear with me here. I mostly made this page because my partner allowed me to take over their inactive account, but I’m not really sure what I actually want to do. I mostly just reblog things and occasionally make posts. So, don’t expect much consistency from me. I’m also kind of a recluse and don’t have a very good memory.

For now, I’m trying out a shorter list of names. You can call me: June, Hunter, or Moth. This is subject to change in the future, but that’s just because my identity if very complicated and fluid. I’m still figuring a lot of things out.

My main pronouns for now are: He/They/Fae/It, but feel free to try out other neos. I don’t really mind.

I am ND (including mental illnesses) and physically disabled, though I am not exactly sure what my support needs are and may have some undiagnosed disabilities (I am diagnosed with multiple disabilities already. I just do not feel like listing them out, so I will just mention them when relevant.)

I have a special interest in queerness and queer identities/labels, but I am not an expert on anything. I have general interests in animals, science (mostly biology, marine biology, and astronomy but very casually. I’m not even a smart nerd. Just a nerd lol,) and fandom (in general,) as well as media like: Slay The Princess, FNAF, The Walten Files, DHMIS, Undertale/Deltarune, ATLA, The Owl House, Spider-Man (former childhood hyperfixation on the MCU,) DC (mostly fandom,) Bluey (comfort show,) MLP (childhood fixation,) and Gravity Falls (childhood fixation.) I actually kind of like cartoons in general and animation, as well (though every attempt to do so myself has failed.) I also have a loose interest in the Furry Fandom but cannot decide on a fursona species for the life of me lol. Some of my hobbies include: drawing (mostly traditional but sometimes I use my phone,) writing (not very good at it though,) taking pictures on my phone, and somtimes I make bracelets irl.

I created this space to share the lgbtqia+ community’s queer joy moments. In a world where we often face discrimination and negativity I wanted to make something dedicated to the happiness and joy of being in the community.

So, what does queer joy mean for you?

Aroace culture is when people tell you for years growing up that romance (and as you get older, sexual things too) is silly, immature, and not worth focusing on, only to then realize you're aroace and have those same people begin scrambling to tell you that you're too young to know, that you need to at least try it, and that you're just confused because you never got the opportunity to date as a teenager

You know what? Forget the discourse. This is no longer my hill to die on.

You wanna ship canonically aspec characters because “aro/ace people can still date/have sex”? Okay, then. LET’S DO IT.  I wanna see an aromantic character with an alloromantic love interest. I wanna see that confession of undying love and the moment when the aro character says they will never feel the same way—not romantically.

I wanna see the asexual character with their allosexual partner. I wanna see that moment when the ace characters tries sex with their partner for the first time because they want to make them happy only to realize that they are 100% sex repulsed.

I wanna see the two demiromantics who don’t even know if what they feel is romantic attraction, but they adore each other and just want to make healthy snacks together and destroy each other at Mario Kart.

I wanna see the two aces who love sensual affection and are figuring out what they define as sexual or not.

I wanna see the romance + sex neutral aroace who happily and consensually does whatever makes their partner happy…but their partner still struggles with feeling undesired. 

Oh, babe. You thought shipping an aspec character would be just like shipping an allo character?

"headcanoning a character as aroace just because they are autistic is weird, autistic people can want sex or romance" and "some autistics are aro and/or ace and acknowledging that isn't ableist, headcanoning an autistic character as aspec isn't inherently ableist" are ideas that should be co-existing

QPRs are absolutely NOT accepted and very rarely understood nor are they taken seriously both on and offline. Whenever I’ve mentioned the term I’ve always had to brace for impact because I’ve had literally debates over whether or not they even EXISTED. Most people can’t even believe you can have intimacy outside of romantic interactions.

I’ve felt consistently inadequate because of internalized amatonormativity and overall lack of representation for QP love and intimacy and only had romance and sex to base my feelings off which made me deeply uncomfortable. It’s been deeply difficult to try and relate to other lesbians as an aroace lesbian because I feel like sometimes I’m in a completely different world. Really, it should be easier for me to know my boundaries but I don’t live in a vacuum. I’m still affected by all sorts of discrimination and oppression and have still a lot of ideas internalized about how I as a human being should behave intimately.

I sometimes feel like I’m intruding on aro conversations especially romance repulsed conversations because so many folks just treat it as “Romance-lite” and I never feel like I’m seen as truly aromantic (asexual) and also lesbian. I hate that people see my love as romantic, it really, really fucking hurts. And it hurts even more to feel like a fake or an intruder in the aro community for doing it. This may be the OCD talking but I feel like I have to hide a lot of myself because it either makes no sense to alloroses or it’s too intimate for aros. And please don’t tell me I’m valid, treat me like I am instead.

I think the funniest genre of post we get on the aspec subreddits sometimes is a post that will have a title like "saying goodbye to the community" and you click on it and the OP will be like "i've considered myself aroace for a long time but recently i've realized that it's not really true because xyz" and then they go on to describe someone that is definitely aroace

This morning i saw a post where the person was like "yeah i don't feel sexual or romantic attraction, but i do want to be in a nonsexual and nonromantic committed relationship with someone where we hug and cuddle and live together. Also, sometimes i fantasize about sex or romance, and i like reading books about romance. People have told me this means I'm not aroace. Thank you to the community for being so welcoming until now, I appreciate it"

And everyone in the comments was like "babygirl no, ur definitely still aroace, i think you were just talking to people who don't actually know what aroace means. Also, the relationship you're describing is a queerplatonic relationship"

Just a reminder as of the 16th of July this petition to have parliament consider a law that would enshrine the right for trans adults to physically transition is desperately close to its goal and needs 20,000 more signatures by the 28th. If you are a UK citizen sign it! And if not, share it anyway!

As an aroace person who is alloplatonic, I’d like to say this to other alloaroaces

Aplatonicism is an experience so far from my own that it might as well be on a different planet. I can’t imagine my life without platonic attraction and a full range of platonic relationships. I really can’t. But guys, that’s MY experience. And no one’s experience is universal.

Think about people who say to aromantic and/or asexual folks that “you’re gonna be lonely forever” or “you can never be happy/fulfilled without x type of relationship.” They say those things from a place of not understanding, which they mistake as confirmation of their experience as universal truth and consequently as permission to not be respectful. And we as people on the other side of that know how much it hurts. We know how much it doesn’t align with the way we exist in the world.

So if you’re someone who is aromantic and/or asexual and you have difficulty understanding the aplatonic spectrum, I’m here to tell you that that’s completely okay. I’m also here to gently remind you that your lack of understanding doesn’t invalidate other people’s identities.

If you want to try to understand, there are plenty of people here who will be happy to talk to you about their experience. And hey, you may ask a ton of questions and do a ton of research and find you still don’t understand. And that’s okay. But give aplatonic people the same respect and kindness that you wish allos would give aromantics and asexuals. Trust that they know themselves and their experience. Don’t pass on aphobia in another form.

Happy pride month to all y’all out there on the aspec, including the aplspec. No one can tell you who you are but you. Keep shining bright.

so i’ve been seeing a lot of like aroace phineas content and im freaking loving it so please allow me to share my personal interpretation of phineas (which is a little bit projecting but whatever)

i 110% see phineas as ace and on the aro spectrum. i think that the reason it takes him so long to realize he has any romantic feelings for isabella is because he’s autistic and asexual so his feelings aren’t exactly the same as most people’s. he sees candance, his parents, his friends, the movies, etc. portray love in a way he doesn’t relate to and then assumes “oh so i don’t feel it at all and my feelings for isabella much be just platonic then” but then as he starts to talk more with aroace spectrum communities, he realizes his feelings are romantic ones, even if they’re unconventional

this is how i see it cause im an autistic person and for me attraction is very different than i’ve heard other people describe it. i am also on the ace spectrum, so i feel like navigating that sort of thing especially as a younger kid is really really odd and i completely understand phineas’s perspective

so i feel like he’s ace and possibly on the aro spectrum, but he still has a relationship with isabella because he feels romantic feelings for her and she’s completely okay with that (i also see her as ace just cause projecting)

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the asexual/aromantic/aroace pride posts, but I wished they included aplatonics too. I always look at them hoping they'll include me, and a majority forget that aplatonic as a term even exists. :/ Please people mention us more often, it doesn't hurt.

Just saw a post saying “minors shouldn’t identify as aro/ace” and I wanted to say… fuck you.

No look, okay I get why some people don’t want minors in certain spaces, and that’s fine. DNI minors then, if you want to.

But you can identify as anything at anytime in your life. It doesn’t hurt anyone to identify as one thing and then realise you’re another. It’s growth. Your identity will change as you age. It’s normal. And if it doesn’t? That’s also normal.

Also, from 13-18 (minors in most countries) is the most complexly romantic and sexual time. Obviously I’m not going into detail as again MINORS. But teenagers undergo the most change is hormones, emotional growth, romantic and sexual interest then any other age.

In my opinion, teenage years is when you’re MOST LIKELY to figure out you’re aro/ace. It’s the MOST LIKELY time to question your identity in general. Obviously, again, no age limit, but it’s the most common time for self discovery.

It’s called a “coming of age” story for a reason.
