The guardians were lying low back on New Xandar after a successful bounty. But you forgot to check the weather as the city was experiencing a severe heatwave, what's worse was the Milano's air conditioner happened to break just before you landed. So for the past couple of days, you sat in the cockpit with a portable fan that only pushed more hot air onto your face.
"This is ridiculous" You said as you tossed the fan aside, nearly hitting Peter.
Meanwhile, Rocket was scratching himself all over his body, the heat was seeping into his fur, making his skin hot and itchy.
"Ridiculous is an understatement !!" He growled as he scratched profusely. "If I have to blow the flarking sun's..."
"That'll be a fun time explaining to the Nova Corps" You smirked. Even in this state, you were able to make your playful jabs at him.
Rocket saw the fan and picked it up. "Got any water in it ??" He shook it to hear any swishing.
"It did" You sighed as you opened the weather app, noticing that the wind was starting to pick up. "Maybe we can go outside for a little while. They say the breeze should cool it a bit" You slowly rose from your chair, your shirt stuck uncomfortably to your skin from sweat.
"I'm trusting you on this, humie" He sighed as he jumped up onto your shoulder.
Reaching the flight deck, you opened the door to be blasted by the hot air from outside, but it only lasted a bit until you were greeted by the slightly cooler breeze.
"Now this is more like it" Rocket sighed in relief as you began to venture out into the city.
Along the way, you watched as the Xandarians made the absolute most of trying to stay cool. Like the kids and their parents playing in the water park nearby, some even cooled themselves in fountains until they were told to move on by the Nova Corps. A few people even braced the heat for a good tan.
You didn't even notice that Rocket had left your side, You were distracted by a Nova Corps agent telling off someone swimming in the fountain. A blast of water hit the side of your face, making you quickly cover it.
"What the hell ??" You looked around to find Rocket, who had managed to nick two water guns.
"Whoever gets the most hits buys drinks" He tossed you the other one
"You're so flarking on" You smirked as you rushed to fill up the toy, the two of you got a few good hits on each other. At least by this point you both were cooled down, Rocket ended up being the winner by 3 points.
"And that's why they make you the marksman" You smirked as you put the toy down.
"D'ast right, pal..." Before Rocket could finish his sentence, his nose picked up on something. It was... a very sweet scent. "Come on" He nodded in the direction of the smell before getting on all fours and sprinting.
"Wha.. Wait up !!" You rushed through the crowd trying to catch up to him, almost losing sight of him a couple of times. "Why do you have to be so fast ??" You sighed.
You found yourself in a nearby marketplace where people were selling a variety of items. Food from other planets, homemade trinkets, like the farmers' markets from Terra. Eventually, you found Rocket staring directly into a shop window.
"What's gotten into you..." You looked into the window to have the same expression he had. The smell he was picking up was ice cream !! Whatever the flavour was he picked up, it must've been real good.
"Wanna check it out ??" You turned to him.
"Ohohoho, now you're talking my lingo" He rubbed his hands before going to the door, trying to reach the handle. You rolled your eyes and smirked as you opened it for him. "I could've opened it"
"Sure, sure" You always enjoyed the back and forth between you two.
You walked to the display window, hands on your hips as you looked at the options of flavours, Rocket jumping back onto your shoulder to get a better look. They had traditional Terran flavours like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Even some delicate ones like Yara fruit ripple, sweet and salty zarg nuts and Kree starfruit twist.
"Should I get two scoops, no wait, three ??" You rubbed your chin trying to decide.
Rocket called over to the staff member, knowing what he wanted. "Yeah, hi. Could I get the strawberry with gummy worms ??" He pointed to the pink tray.
"Certainly, and for you ??" The staff asked you.
"Hmm, can I get a triple scoop of Blue zazzberry, Yara fruit and Rainbow ??"
You watched as the staff happily scooped your delicious choices and presented them to you. "Wait, you're guardians of the galaxy ?? This one's on the house"
"Sweet !!" Rocket grabbed his ice cream and found a shaded table nearby. You grabbed yours, thanking the staff and joined him.
"Oh, this is gonna get good" Rocket grabbed his spoon and delved into the sweet treat. He made a good choice on the combo. Don't talk to him, he was relishing this moment.
"This has got to be the best thing I've ever ate" You said with your mouth full.
"Couldn't have said it any better, pal" Rocket said as he continued to stuff his face.
There was nothing else on this planet that could've been better than this. You, your best friend and ice cream.
"Y/n ?? Can we make a promise ?? Not to tell Drax or Quill about this place" Rocket wiped his mouth.
You covered your mouth as you burped. "Deal, we likely wouldn't see this place again" You chuckled.
The sun was setting, and the weather reported the heatwave was moving on. So the two of you started to head back to the Milano. Rocket looked at you briefly and had a rare fond smile on his face. He was happy he could share today with you. When you entered the Milano, you were greeted by the sweet cool breeze, the air conditioner was fixed !!
"Hey, Rocket??" Peter called out. "The guy who came to fix the air conditioner said that he found a few parts were missing ??" He raised an eyebrow.
"Don't know what you're on about, star munch, probably trying to get more credits" Rocket shrugged as he hopped off your shoulder and went for a shower. But you saw the smirk on his face as he entered the hall.
That cheeky devil.
A/N: This was honestly fun to rewrite. Might consider doing this again.
Taglist @happylittleshrub (Not sure if you remember this story, but I was very happy to do that request for you)
A/N: This was initially just gonna be platonic headcanons, but it grew into something more. I hope everyone enjoys regardless. Word count:2.2K
Days before:
Time was running out, a life threatening comet was hurling towards your planet with only a few hours until impact. You were rushing around the flight deck in the gateway galaxy to see if anyone was willing to stop the comet in it's tracks.
"Please, I'm begging you !! My family is in danger !!" You pleaded with one of the pilots, but they shook their head and gave the same response.
"Sorry kid, it's too risky"
You sighed in defeat and moved over to what looked like an abandoned fighter ship, sitting by, you pulled out a photo of your family. The photo was recently taken before the news came in. "I'm sorry... I let you all down" With a heavy sigh, you tucked the photo back into your pocket and got up.
"AGHH !! Hey, watch the tail" A voice came from the under the ship, you looked down and saw you stepped on someone's tail.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry" You gasped and tried to dust it off.
"It's fine, not the first time that happened" A fox moved from under the ship and stood up. He was wearing some sort of green flight suit with a grey jacket and how could you miss the bright orange fur.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on your ship" You frowned as you looked at it, seems to be he was reparing it.
"It's been through worse, I'm not one to pry but what's this letting them down business ??"
You pulled out the photo to show him. "A comet is heading towards my planet. The latest reading shows it's more than 100km wide. My planet is really small, and the impact will be devastating." You pulled out another photo, but for the comet. "I've been trying to ask for help for the past month, and no one is willing to go and take it out"
The fox inspected the photo more closely before nodding to himself. "Seems tough, but nothing I can't handle" He handed you back the photo.
"You'll help ??" You perked up before rushing to unzip your backpack. "Here, let me pay you at least" You opened the bag to reveal a set of gold coins.
"Easy, easy, let's call this a discount" He chuckled as he gently pushed the backpack away. "Come on, we've got a comet to stop"
You nodded and jumped into the ship; it looked rough around the edges, but it seemed it could manage for now. "The planet is called Tau Ceti VI" You looked over the seat as he punched in the coordinates.
It was only a few minutes before the two had arrived near the planet where they could see the comet clear as day. "It's moving faster than we thought" You frowned.
The fox activated his visor to get a better look at the comet. It wasn't looking too good.
"Ok, bad news is that it's becoming unstable. The core is heating up. Good news is it's being exposed, we take out the core, we take out the comet." You could feel a smirk from him.
But as they moved closer to the comet, the ship's thrusters were beginning to malfunction. The alarms started to blare as the fox tried to figure out a hotfix to stabilise the ship.
"Swap over" You got up, trying to move him.
"What, why ??" He looked over but scooted to the back.
"I think I know what's wrong" You frowned as you looked at the controls, with a few adjustments. You managed to stabilise the thrusters and pull the ship back up. But now you were heading straight for the comet.
The fox pointed to the triggers next to the throttle. "There, Hyper laser !!"
You frowned as you placed your hand onto it, waiting for the core to become exposed. When it did, you shut your eyes tight and pressed down. The laser shot directly into the core, destroying the comet. You didn't open your eyes until you heard a loud "WHOOP !!" from the fox.
"Yeah !! That's what I'm talking about," He chuckled "Not bad for a passenger" The two eventually swapped back seats. "Oh, I didn't even grab your name before we left" He turned back to you.
"Y/n, and you..."
Before you could even finish the sentence. "I'm Fox McCloud!!" He pointed up to the stars. "Leader of the legendary Star Fox team !! I only care about three things, keeping the Lylat system safe, fighting with my buds and doing extremely dangerous barell rooolllss" He emphasized this by doing a barrel roll. "Then one day, my warp drive exploded. Blew a giant hole in the fabric of space and time, and I got sucked into a different universe. It's what I get for making a frog my engineer. Now I roam your galaxy trying to find a way home, doing good when the price is right. Oh, I also have cool space boots" He gently placed one foot up on the control panel to show.
"Woah" Safe to say you were impressed by his story, like this was the coolest dude you met. "Fox, again, thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means" You wanted to find a way to pay him back for helping you, but coins were still out of the question. "Hey, while I can't fix your warp drive, I can however, get your ship to a more stable condition. That barrel roll barely held the ship together"
"You got yourself a deal, Y/n" So they headed back to gateway for further repairs.
Present day:
"No, no, no. It won't work. Cause you're then interfering with the weapons systems" You pointed to the components before Fox moved further.
"Ah, good eye" He nodded and made the adjustment
You continued to watch over until your ears picked up a voice.
"Excuse me, could you be able to take us to the space junk galaxy ??"
You turned around to see a woman in a pink dress, and a... mushroom-looking guy trying to ask for a lift.
"Why is a princess trying to go to the most dangerous part of the galaxy ??" You said to yourself before going over to them.
"Yo, y/n. screwdriver" No response. "Screwdriver ??" he turned to find that you weren't there. He looked around to find you talking with the princess and brought them over.
"Hi, we need to find a pilot, and your friend here said you could help ??" She greeted politely.
"Who are you ??" The mushroom guy asked.
"Don't ask me personal questions" Fox responded.
"Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to.."
"I'm Fox McCloud !!"
"Que the intro" You chuckled
After the brief intro, backstory and mentioning of the space boots, the mushroom guy too was in awe of the boots. But the story was a tad different. It incorporated you.
"Now, that is the backstory of the guys who are going to take us to the space junk galaxy" The princess who was named peach smiled.
"How desperate for money do you think we are ??" Fox gently scratched his fur with the screw. Hold up, when did this turn into a we situation ?? He needed the warp drive, not you.
The mushroom guy named Toad opened his bag to reveal a few good amount of coins.
"Dang..." You looked at the amount there was.
Fox went wide-eyed and looked at the coins, then you, then at peach.
"Alright, you got a deal. We'll fuel up the Arwing, we'll take off in five" Fox went back to the ship.
Toad looked up at you in awe. "You're friends with him ?? That was the coolest dude I've ever seen !!"
The group of 4 eventually turned into 6 when brothers Mario, Luigi and a dinosaur named Yoshi who left the mushroom kingdom to find Peach. You got a bit worried when Fox and Mario gave each other a sort of glare...
"Nice ride" Mario complimented, nodding to fox.
"Nice stache" Fox complimented back.
Soon the Arwing was fuelled up and ready to go, everyone hopped in and they were off to space junk to find Rosalina. But along the way, Bowser Jr caught up to the crew and sent his army of koopas after you. Fox let you take over the controls while he kept everything in tack, the whole situation was stressful enough. You whipped and dodged every attack possible, but it ultimately ended with Mario and Luigi being turned into babies and the Arwing crash landing onto a planet called Fossil Falls. With the Arwing practically destroyed, you and fox spent the whole afternoon trying to get it back up and running.
"We're gonna fix you up like new, ok ??" Fox said to his ship as he sorted through the damaged parts. "It's gonna be fine, it's just a dent, it's just a dent !!" His voice going higher pitched at the last bit.
With this, along with the weight of the situation at hand. You growled in frustration when a potential fix didn't work. Making you throw the tool and kicking the ship. But unlike fox, you didn't have cool space boots so you felt the force of steel. The words that came out of your mouth, made everyone shocked even a now reverted Luigi had to cover Yoshi's ears.
"Sorry..." You sighed as you walked over to the nearby cliff, sitting in defeat. Never had you thought your family would be in danger twice let alone an entire galaxy.
Your ears picked up soft but slightly heavy footsteps as fox sat down next to you, he understood what was going through your mind at that point.
"First crash... always hits the hardest. When I took over from my father you wouldn't know how many times I had that situation. Peppy lost count after that." He scoffed, but seeing you were undeterred. "First time it happens, feels like you screwed up. If you'd just been faster... Doesn't work like that"
Your frown loosened and finally you made eye contact.
"You know what I saw back there ?? Not someone who failed, not someone who's just another passenger. I saw someone who kept moving, no matter how many times they stumbled, you kept moving. My dad started Star fox when people didn't believe... when hope was starting to get lost. Y/n, I know this feels defeating, but Rosalina is still out there and needs hope right now"
Tears began to form in your eyes as you looked back out into the sky, the sun fully set and the night sky was shining bright with stars. Fox got up and went back to the ship, grabbing something that was left undamaged from the crash.
"I was kind of waiting for this thing to be over to offer this... But y/n, you've proven yourself to me these past few days, you've got what it takes."
He handed you a grey jacket, but it looked similar... A Star Fox jacket. He was offering you a chance to be a part of the team. You gently slipped on the jacket... It felt right.
"Fits like a glove" Fox chuckled. "I know this is not the best situation.." He couldn't finish the sentence before you held him tight. He believed in you, he believed in you when no one else did. Fox chuckled and wrapped his arms around you. "Don't go making me soft, bud"
You chuckled as you wiped the tears from your eyes, before a bright light caught your eye, and it seemed to be getting closer.
"Uh, guys ?? There's something extremely weird flying towards us" You shielded your eyes as the light stopped, hours ago. Luigi radioed for help, and Rosalina's children, the Lumas, managed to get the ship to the exact location. This was amazing, you now had a ship. Rosalina could still be rescued.
You took a deep breath as you neared the planet that Bowser Jr had created. "Buckle up, everyone, it's about to get crazy" Fox could only smirk, seeing the confidence radiating through you.
The Lumas even decked themselves in a similar jacket.
"Star Fox team is ready !!" They all gathered around you, you couldn't help but smile.
"Sick"
Boarding the ship, the controls almost felt like second nature to you after the previous encounters. Hell, you could even do a barrel roll successfully when you were infiltrating the planet's defences.
"You're up, Mario !!" You turned around to him as they jumped out to rescue Rosalina.
"Ready, Fox ??" You smirked to him.
"Don't have to say twice" He got onto the ship's weapons.
The battle was long but hard-fought; Rosalina was rescued, and Bowser Jr. and his father, Bowser, were defeated. The Mushroom Kingdom celebrated Peach's return, and after the castle was rebuilt, it was time to celebrate.
You and Fox kicked back by the rebuilt Arwing thanks to Rosalina; its warp drive even fixed, too.
"Never been one for crowds" You chuckled as you watched nearby as the toads rejoiced.
"It's good to have your own space every now and then" Fox happily ate the food that was offered.
"Fox... Thank you, again. You helped me realise I was... more than just what my life previously was. You've been a good friend, if it's not too much to offer... Would you be open to having one more on the team ??"
Fox blinked before smirking. "Was the jacket not the clear answer ??"
You laughed as you happily raised a fist for a fist bump, to which he happily returned. Whatever the road lay ahead for you, this was the beginning of something amazing.
A/N: Sorry if the ending seems a bit shaky, I'm just coming out of writer's block. Double sorry to the Star Fox veterans if I butchered the lore somehow. I'm still in beginners class.
It's been 5 months since you escaped the Kyln prison with Rocket, you two have been... On good terms. You remembered the first conversation you had with him when you managed to escape the Nova Corps.
"Now let's get one rule straight kid, we're not friends, not BFF's, just work partners. Got it ??"
But in hindsight, Rocket also helped you in some ways. Back when you were first taken from Earth, you basically retracted into a shell, not wanting to leave. You were all alone until you met him, it was like a spark reignited within you. It helped you come out of your shell, even if he didn't want to hear the "mushy scut" as he would say.
One evening, you returned to your joint ship after you snuck back to Earth to grab something and get some food, a little reminder of home.
"I'm back, I got you the parts you wanted" You placed a separate bag on the nearby countertop, the metal clanging inside.
Rocket hummed as he walked over, not looking from what he was doing before placing the device down and looking through the bag. "This'll work nicely" he nodded before getting back to it.
You sat by the cockpit and pulled out the old device that you managed to retrieve. Back on earth, you wouldn't go anywhere without it, it had a huge ton of songs on it. The last song you put in it was around January, the month you were kidnapped. You sighed softly as you placed an earbud in as you looked through the songs you've accumulated over the years. Before stumbling onto a song you saved but didn't have the chance to listen to. "Might as well" You pressed play.
Rocket was about to finish up the device he was working on, but brushed it off the first two times before he started getting annoyed. "Look kid, if ya trying to blow this ship up, I'd say pipe down the humming" He sighed.
"What was that ??" You pulled the earbud out and looked over at him, seeing the annoyed expression on his face.
"This stuff is a living hazard, one wrong move or distraction" He emphasised the last word" Then the whole ship is gone, the humming ain't doing us favours" He went back to work.
"Right, sorry" You got up and headed to your bunker, sitting by the window and pressing play as you looked into the cosmos.
You lost track of time as you listened to the song on repeat. You would vibe for a bit and then move on. But the lyrics seemed to resonate with you quite a bit, it was almost describing how... Rocket helped you.
You continued to stare out into the window before feeling a nudge on your knee, looking over to see Rocket.
"You still listening to the song ??" He crossed his arms. "It's been a while"
You looked at the clock and found you'd been sitting there for 2 and a half hours. "Hus, it has been"
You knew Rocket wasn't one to engage with others, even when you tried to tell him about your life on earth, he would either shrug it off or do something else. But you offered him an earbud, seeing if he'll take up the offer.
To your surprise, he sighed and sat up. Placing an earbud into his ear. "Just one song"
That made you smile a bit, so, turning the volume down to a good level, you rewound the song and pressed play. To your surprise, you found his foot tapping to the beat. He quickly stopped as soon as he felt your eyes on him.
"That ain't too bad" He was about to take the earbud out before he stopped himself, lowering his hand down hesitantly. "What else ya got ??"
One song turned into 5, then it turned into 30. Each one you helped break down the lyrics and their meaning. You would keep finding his foot tapping which made you smile mentally, he was enjoying this.
A yawn broke out from your mouth as you looked at the time. "I think we should get some sleep."
"That... first song you played, you never told me about it ??" Rocket handed the earbud back, but stayed close, awaiting your answer.
"It's... about emotional rebirth... How someone could help bring you back to life after you feel... lost... It's why I was listening to it a lot today... Rocket, you've helped me"
Rocket's ear twitched as you said that. "How did I help you ??" He was willing to bite.
"You saved me when I was at my lowest, when no one in the galaxy gave a damn about me, you did..."
He looked at the floor as he thought about what you said. He could've kicked you off the ship by now, and yet you were still with him. Maybe in a way... You're helping him.
"I... tolerate you" He smirked. You shrugged to yourself as he walked off. Maybe that's his way of saying he likes you.
"Night, Rocket" You got up and closed the door and climbed into bed. He really did help bring you back to life.
In the vast outskirts of the planet Kerwan, Y/n had been spending the last 2 years in search of someone like them... A Lomabx. But the Lombax species to your knowledge, has been extinct for years. Leaving you to believe you are the only one left.
The last failed search left you almost hopeless. Your adoptive father could see the sadness on your face when you landed the ship in the garage. When there were moments when you needed to think or just needed to be alone, you would head up to the roof of the building. He followed you and began climbing the ladder up. His age is almost getting the better of him.
"I'm getting too old for this," he tried to joke. It got a chuckle out of you, but it didn't last long.
"Should've known that book was a dud" You sighed as your father sat beside you.
"Hey... You didn't know" He had been supportive of you trying to find anyone for the past 2 years. "Besides, you learnt a lot about them"
You shook your head and rested your chin on your knee. "I should've dreamed smaller... leads to less disappointment." A tear ran down your face. You felt an arm wrap around your shoulders as he brought you to his side.
"You will find them... I know it"
About a week later.
"Y/n, I need you to go into Metropolis and get a few things for me ?? The bolts are on the counter" That task would change your life.
The city bustled with life, hovercars zipping past skyscrapers, and the streets below were springing awake as people went about their daily lives. A heroic duo landed their ship on the planet, ready for some R&R.
"It has been some time since we visited Metropolis. Do you suppose we will remain unnoticed this time ??" Clank chuckled his iconic laugh as Ratchet gently slung him on his back.
"Knowing our luck, not a chance. But hey, at least we'll be able to relax for today" He walked into the central district.
"I beg to differ that we will find the chance to relax"
"100 bolts, you're on" Ratchet betted.
Nearby, Y/n landed at a fuel station, getting ready to head back home. But as they were about to go inside and pay, they saw the nearby TV light up with a news article about this duo who stopped someone... Your eyes widened as the story was drowned out.
"No way..." A lombax !!
As the duo weaved through the crowd, something caught the corner of Ratchet's eye. It couldn't be. A familiar ear outline, tail and stripes. "Clank... Do you see what I'm seeing ??" He held Clank up to help him.
He looked around before spotting you, even he was surprised. "Indeed. Another Lombax, Ratchet... This could be..."
The news article talked about their last sighting in Metropolis, they could still be here. You acted fast, rushing inside and placing the bolts on the counter before heading outside. "PUMP 5 !!" You called before jumping onto the ship.
"H-hey wait !! Hold on !!" Ratchet pleaded for you to stop, but the ship's hatch was already sealed and the engine was flaring. Dust scattered across the area. Ratchet coughed, shielding his eyes as your ship took off. "Aw, c'mon really !!"
The search for one another turned into almost a wild goose chase, spending hours scouring the city to find one another. The sun was starting to set and you landed to call your dad.
"I'm sorry, I know. I'll be home soon, I promise" You reassured as you hung up, sitting near a statue of the legendary Captain Qwark. Sighing as you rubbed your face in annoyance. "What am I doing ??' You got up and slowly went to your ship.
Ratchet and Clank were close to giving up their search. "Come on, let's head back to the ship" Ratchet said disappointed. It wasn't until he turned around that Clank laid eyes on someone familiar. "Ratchet... They are here"
He never turned around as quickly as he did, Eyes shooting all over until he saw the statue and then you. His heart was pounding as he saw you walk back to your ship. "WAIT !!" He called out.
This time, your ears perked up at the call and your eyes widened as you saw Ratchet slowly approaching. "It's you..."
For a moment, it felt like that time had stopped between you two. Every sound in the city faded between the sound of your heart beating loudly in your ears.
Ratchet took a hesitant step forward, his voice thick, caught in disbelief and hope. "I... I can't believe this. I thought..." His voice cracked as the anxiety crept over him. "I thought I was the only one left..."
"This is no illusion, Ratchet. Nor are they" Clank said quietly, a gentle smile forming.
Ratchet extended a trembling hand, but his smile remained. "I'm... Ratchet and this is Clank" He greeted, waiting for you to do the same.
You looked at the features of Ratchet, this was definitely a Lombax. You were starting to get overwhelmed with all of it. This situation felt too intimate for the middle of the city. Clank noticed how tense you looked and saw the beginning of the nightlife around them.
"Ratchet, perhaps this conversation deserves a bit more privacy"
Ratchet blinked, realising the weight of the situation of what you must be feeling. He glanced around and nodded before returning his gaze to you.
"Yeah, you're right, buddy." He stepped a bit closer to you, keeping his tone steady yet inviting. "We can go and find a quiet spot for us to talk ??"
Before you could answer, your ears perked up at people screaming. Running from the opposite direction as multiple goons 4 less flew in on their jetpacks and began to scatter the area. The unmistakable laugh of Dr Nefarious was heard as he appeared from his ship and lowered to the ground.
"Son of a Qwark..." Ratchet sighed, that was the worst bet possible.
"Ah, Ratchet and Clank. What a wonderful surprise, I didn't expect to see you here..." Nefarious didn't finish his sentence as his optics lay on you, he was in disbelief. "What do we have here ??"
Ratchet quickly stood in front of you as Nefarious approached, gripping onto his Omni-wrench.
"Looks like I've hit the jackpot !!" Nefarious laughed manically as the trio were beginning to be surrounded by the goons.
"Ratchet, we're being surrounded" Clank looked around from behind.
"Don't worry, we got this" He nodded reassuringly as he then lunged at one and whacked him in the face with his wrench. A fight broke out, which then led to one of the goons' weapons being dropped in front of you. A part of you wanted to help, but fight or flight was now the biggest thing stopping you. You slowly began to step away from the weapon, but ended up in the arms of a goon.
"Yo boss, I got the Lombax !!" He called out as he activated his jetpack, bringing you to Nefarious' ship.
“Oh the galaxy is truely spoiling me today” Nefarious laughed as he brought you onto the ship, setting the coordinates back to his base.
Ratchet just finished off the last of the goons before he heard the engines hum to life. “No !!”
You looked around, finding a spare tool and thinked fast, grabbing it and smashing the controls.
“What did you do !!!” Nefarious tried to stop you before the ship started to fly out of control.
Ratchet and clank were confused of what’s going on until they saw the ship crashing towards them.
“I recommend we run !!” Clank cried out as ratchet started moving.
The ship crashed into the ground, destroying the statue of the captain, Ratchet grimaced seeing it topple down.
“He’s not gonna be happy about that”
Nefarious emerged from the rubble and he was angry. “You… you think your little friend could stop me…” *BANG !!*
You swung the tool again to his head, knocking him out cold.
“My, quite impressive” clank complimented.
“That was incredible, you did that !!” Ratchet smiled, making you smile a little, a warm feeling emerged as you stepped down from the ship. “I’m… y/n…”
Whatever this meeting has set, it would be adventurous.

Mild warning for Google translated Korean. Word count:1.5K
Y/n was making the biggest decision of their life, they were about to drop their very first beat onto social media, it was their passion to make music and today... Hopefully people got to see it.
"셋... 둘... 하나..." (Three... two... one...) They pressed the upload button.
Naturally with most first uploads it took it's time to get traction. But you did check every two minutes. But little did you know the same night... Everything will change.
In there studio, Rumi was browsing some beats online so the group could use to gain some inspiration for their next song, after multiple failed ones she eventually stumbled onto yours. She listened to it briefly and bopped her head slightly.
"Hey guys, check this out" She motioned for Mira and Zoey who leaned in, staring at the video.
"Oh! I've never heard of them before" Zoey was feeling the beat.
"Who's... (Dj name) Sounds kinda sick" Mira mused.
"Let me see" Zoey pulled out one of her notebooks and began to rap a verse she had written, it was fitting very well.
Rumi clicked on the profile and frowned slightly. "This is their only video ?? But it sounds so good !!"
"Should we wait or maybe get in touch with them ??" Zoey suggested.
They debated each other, could they go with someone who's only uploaded one thing... But yet again, they might not be able to work with them if someone else snags them up.
"Let's get in touch" Rumi nodded.
She found a social and messaged up, explaining they found your tune and loved it !!
The next morning, you got up to check your phone for any new likes or comments, your eyes going wide as saucers when you saw Huntr/x's name !! You had to check the profile multiple times to see if it was the official one.
"Ok, ok...How do I respond..." You thought to yourself, so you settled down enough to write the best professional email.
The girls were busy with rehearsals that day and they get so many notifications a day, but when Rumi had time to check and see you'd responded, she immediately opened it.
"They're so nice !!" Zoey peeked over her shoulder.
You sheepishly attached another song to the email that you had been working on for weeks. "It's not fully mastered yet... But I think this one fits you all"
They took the time to sit down and listen to it, and it flowed immediately. Zoey was on those beats while Mira was grooving.
Rumi perked up with a thought. "What if we really did a collab ??" She texted you.
"Really ??" You replied, was this actually happening ??!!
"Yeah, we could help get your name out and you can work with us for our new song"
"I... Would love to collaborate with you all" You agreed, a huge smile on your face from the other side of the phone. The girls were happy too, they don't usually collaborate often, it's kind of thrilling.
A couple of days later, you found yourself in the centre of Seoul. Following an address they texted you to a high-rise studio. "Oh boy..." You looked up at how tall the building was.
You entered the building and went to the reception. "Hi... Um... I'm here to see huntr/x ??"
The person looked up at you a little suspiciously. "Do you have an application for the trainee program ??" They get a lot of people.
"No wait, I... I'm a producer..." You tried to clarify.
"It's ok, they're with us" Rumi found you and called out.
"Apologies" The receptionist nodded.
Rumi smiled at you as you walked up to her. "Hi y/n, It's good to finally meet you."
"Thank you... It's good to meet you too" you said as you entered the elevator.
"The others will be really happy to meet you. We've been excited for this, actually. A little change."
As you entered the studio, you were bombarded by an excited Zoey. "Oh my goodness !! Hi !!" She immediately smiled wide. "It's so good to meet you !!"
"Hi..." You chuckled nervously.
"Zoey, easy" Mira reminded her.
"Sorry, sorry, excited." She giggled softly. "I already have a notebook full of verses I think would go great with your music"
You nodded before sitting down and pulling out your laptop, opening up your music program. "I've been brainstorming some ideas as well for the past couple of days" You pressed play on a couple of songs.
The three gathered around, trying not to crowd you as you showed them.
"I like that one" One song capturing Mira's attention.
"Yeah, it's sharp !!" Zoey agreed.
"We can give it a try ??" You offered.
So the girls hopped into the booth as you got the setup started, the recording started and what they produced flowed so effortlessly. You all spent hours, not realising the time. By the time it was finished, it was almost late and Mira was drooping. "I feel like I've been singing for hours"
"Yeah, I think we should call it a night" You agreed, packing up your laptop.
"Thank you for this, we'll find some time tomorrow maybe and finish it up ??" Rumi offered as she walked you to the elevator.
"Yeah, I look forward to it" You nodded.
A month went by and the group had almost 30 songs with your tracks, you also began to warm up with them. The girls were supportive and confident in their group, and you were slowly being integrated into it.
Their new EP has officially been released, and they were getting ready to embark on a tour. But before you could bid them farewell, their manager, Bobby came to you with an offer.
"You... want me to go on tour ??" You said, making sure you heard it correctly.
"It would get you out there and my girls would love to have you along !" He nodded.
You agreed in a rush. Once back to your apartment, the whole tour thing was getting to you. Everything was happening so fast, they went on tour, and it was a big deal every time. More people in one place than you could fathom.
The very first show you did, you got stage fright when you saw the packed-out arena, rushing backstage as you tried to calm yourself.
"I... I can't do this..." The panic setting.
"What's wrong ??' Zoey turned to you.
"There... There are so many..." Your breathing started to pick up a little faster.
"It looks daunting, but we promise you'll be ok" Rumi gently squeezed your shoulder.
"You don't have to do this if you don't want to." Mira reassured and handed you some water.
After a couple of sips, you felt a bit better. "I want to..." You really did.
"We're up there with you" Zoey nodded.
"Bobby will take care of it if it becomes too much" Rumi moved alongside you.
Soon, the lights dimmed in the arena as the crowd cheered for the pre-show. You made your way to the stage as the lights behind you illuminated the crowd.
"My..." You stuttered, Rumi nearby mimicking a deep breath for you to follow. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, the noise drowning out mentally as you began to get into your element.
"My name is (Dj name)" Finally introducing yourself.
The crowd began to cheer louder, you were credited on their latest song, You must be good if they brought you here live.
Huntr/x made there appearance to hype you up. "Give it up for our Dj !!" Rumi cheered.
So you began your set, it felt like you were back in your apartment playing the songs to yourself, but instead... a packed arena could hear it. The crowd was loving what they were hearing and began to jump along to the bass. The girls freestyled alongside the songs as a form of encouragement. The first show was amazing, you smiled as your set ended and the crowd cheered.
"Thank you so much !!' You said to the crowd. "Now get ready for Huntr/x !!" getting the crowd hyped as you moved off stage, seeing them from a VIP access.
As the tour continued, you began to find your footing and grew more confident in your set as you moved on stage. People were starting you recognise you because of social media posts from previous concerts. It was incredible to perform alongside the biggest KPOP group.
By the end of your leg of the tour. The girls were more giddy than they were before. Trying their damnedest not to smile.
"Y/n, We've been discussing something during the tour and... We want you to be in on it" Rumi offered.
"On what ??" You raised an eyebrow.
"We want you to sign on with us !!" Zoey cheered.
You blinked... right here, right now. "You serious ??"
They all nodded quickly. Your eyes swelled with happy tears as you rushed and hugged them tight "Thank you..."
This was easily the best decision you have ever made. Now it was time to work on your debut album.
Here is a little birthday present for bestie @callofdudes word count:1K
It's been a year since you and Glinda witnessed your friend Elphaba defy gravity and fled the Emerald city. Ever since then you and Glinda have been gagged by the Wizard and Madam Morrible to not say a word about her and only mention her by "The wicked witch of the west".
You missed her so much, the memories were the only thing that comforted you, from your first meeting to the unadulterated loathing to the dance in the Ozdust ballroom where you three had connected for the first time since arriving at shiz. You always treasured moments with her like spending time in the library where you would read each other stories... You won't be able to get to do that anymore.
Your birthday was coming up and Glinda was trying to return to some form of normality even though she now has to take up the role of "Glinda the good" thanks to Morrible.
"Y/n... is there a specific cake that you want ??" She tried to beam her usual smile but could see the grief in your eyes.
"I'm ok... thanks Glinda..." You nodded to her before looking back out of the window.
You could hear her yelling out "Chocolate cake" as she waved her wand and did nothing, she did learn magic in the years but they were only limited.
Hoping to clear your head, you got up and put your boots on, maybe the fresh air could clear your mind. "I'm gonna head out for a little bit..."
"Are you sure ?? We're meant to make an appearance soon in Munchkin land" You and Glinda both had to keep up public persona's in the name of the wizard and spread his lies and conspiracies.
You gave her a reassuring look before hugging her. "I promise I'll be back on time"
That fresh air you hoped would clear your memories only amplified them, how you could wish you would go back in time and do all those things again... Helping Elphie learn how to be popular or wanting to be in the hoi polloi when spending one short day in the emerald city. But now all of that was gone... or so you thought, cause something did pop up in your mind when you remembered her flying.
"So if you care to find me, look to the western sky"
She may have flown west from the city, so as you pointed in the direction of the city, you went west. But the journey was a little more difficult than it would be, with the wizards now spies flying across the whole of Oz, not only in finding rebellion animals but also too keep you or Glinda from finding her. Further and further you went out east and she wasn't anywhere in sight... you were now starting to lose hope, how far has she gone... did she still even remember you two ??
In a hideout that she had crafted, Elphaba looked at the drawing that you three had gotten when you were touring the city, tears fell down her face as all she wanted right now was her friends. But with the wizard after her it wasn't possible, she even remembered your birthday, in some form of normality, she took a book from her shelf which was one of your favourites and wrapped it with some string like a bow of ribbon.
"Happy birthday y/n..." She whispered to herself.
But what she or you didn't expect was for your paths to cross again, cause when you were sitting down by a tree crying in grief, she was getting food from her makeshift garden when she then heard faint sobs from further out. Placing her basket down she then went and investigated, her eyes widening softly when she realized who was crying. "Y/n..."
You turned and sniffled, wiping your teary eyes to see her... she was... alive and well... "Elphie..."
You both ran into each other's embrace, hugging each other so tightly as if you would both turn into dust if either of you let go, more tears fell from both of you as the relief washed over.
"I thought you were gone..."
"Shhh it's ok... I'm here" she gently wiped your tears as she then brought you to her hideout, out of site from the spies.
"What's been... happening ??" She asked hesitantly.
You sighed as you looked at her. "They both gagged us from mentioning your name. Glinda has taken up as the wizard's spokesperson as "Glinda the good" and he's been having me find ways from keeping the animals from escaping..."
This made her blood boil... as if she wasn't mad at him already. She then gently kneeled in front of you and took your hand gently. "I promise y/n... I will stop him" You could see the determination in her eyes... It was a sort of reassurance that made you say everything is going to be ok.
She perked up when she remembered... "Wait right here" She got up quickly and tried to find the book she wrapped. Once finding it, she then came back and presented it to you with a soft smile. "Happy birthday..."
You looked at it with such fondness as you untied the bow. "Thank you Elphaba... thank you..." You got up and hugged her again to which she happily returned it.
But you then remembered you had to go back to the city to help Glinda with the statement, Elphaba could see the look on your face.
"You have to go..." She whispered sadly, knowing clearly.
But as you began to walk out the door...
"Unlimited... together we're... unlimited" She sang softly.
You chuckled softly as you looked at her with soft sad eyes "Together we'll be the greatest team that's ever been" You sang back.
"It's not goodbye Elphie... It's just farewell for now" You spoke before continuing on.
Seeing her again lifted you up, filling you with the determination to join her on the journey of taking down the wizard... maybe it'll be your turn to defy gravity soon.
A/N: Please bare with me on this one as this is the first time that I've written in a while and the first time writing anything wicked 😰😰
Btw, American mutuals, I hope you guys try to take care of yourselves over the next day or so, as you wait for the election results. This seems like a really tough and stressful time for you all, and although I know it's not going to be easy to relax, I hope you're still able to take some time to do things you enjoy.
Maybe write in a notebook for a bit, do something you enjoy like going to an amusement park with a friend, eat your favorite chips or other comfort snacks, write in the notebook some more, get some exercise (maybe something fun like tennis), write even more in the notebook, etc.

Fink definitely had to be the one to handle nightmares with Brightbill. Telling the duckling stories, and even having to make up a song or two to calm the little thing down. And due to Roz always having to shut off during the night to conserve power, she wouldn’t be much help…. Fink definitely had to let Brightbill sleep on his bed a couple times.
He wasn’t fond of the arrangement of him having to help parent Brightbill. Originally it was simply to get things from Roz due to her naïveness. But he did eventually warm up to the idea, since it’s obvious he didn’t get to experience actual family or parental love. He definitely subconsciously tried to parent Brightbill in ways he wish he had growing up.
Protective. You saw how he tried to attack the other geese when they were bullying Brightbill. He was ready to feast.
He’s the type to act like it’s a huge deal or a big favor when he does something for someone. He wants compliments and praise. I can definitely see him getting flustered the first time Roz complimented him genuinely for whatever reason. He was not prepared for the “you are very smart” comment. Bro malfunctioned.
Fink: what is this?
Baby Brightbill wanting a hug: affection.
Fink: disgusting!….. do it again.
Cried when Roz had to leave. He was sad to see his first real friend leave so suddenly (wasn’t really sudden, but he felt like it was) I can definitely see him not wanting to leave the home she built for Brightbill, herself and of course Fink. He didn’t allow anyone to mess with the pictures.
I don’t know why… but this dude definitely got a fear of woodpeckers. I don’t know why I see that, but I do for some reason. Maybe he was attacked as a pup?… mini fic idea?
Back to the platonic relationships 🤣
Always gets excited whenever Brightbill comes back after winter. Is so happy to see his son. The other geese got used to him bolting to Brightbill.
Has in fact threatened to eat a few other animals that insulted Brightbill when he was still a duckling. He didn’t wanna admit it (he can now but at the time, heck no) but he had gotten attached to the duckling and got over protective. He mellowed out when Brightbill got older though. The over protectiveness just passed to Roz.
Has definitely had to babysit for Pink tail a couple times. He likes the kids now but he did almost eat stinky once or twice.
Once had to attack another fox when it tried to attack Brightbill. Got a scar from it too. Roz managed to fix him up, but it took a bit for Fink and Roz to get a crying Brightbill to calm down.
Always has a pinecone on hand (on paw?) to throw at the squirrels. Only he is allowed to laugh at Brightbill face planting when he fails a lift off.
Got excited when Roz returned. Was nervous she wouldn’t remember him, but he’d rather have to reintroduce himself than not be her friend again.
I feel like Fink didn’t have siblings, and if he did they passed away. So I feel like when Brightbill was little and wanted to play, he’d always agree (although he’d act like it’s a huge hassle. In reality he was happy to finally experience playing.)
It’s obvious that Fink didn’t have a relationship (at least not a good one) with his mother. So when Roz started to doubt herself, I can definitely see him telling her -in his own way- that she is a way better mother than she thinks. Pink tail also had to join in on it since Fink has a pretty rude way of giving pep talks.
Pink tail and him definitely gossip about the kids.
Pink tail: so you’re telling me Brightbill tried to eat a caterpillar?
Fink: not tried, did. He had an upset stomach for days! The kid got so clingy I could even be in my den away from him!
Pink tail: yeah my last litter did that… Jeremy didn’t even last spring.
Fink knows about all of the ways Pink tail other kids from past litters died. Was very concerned on how unbothered she was. (Lowkey gets it though)
Final headcannons! Rapid fire!
Definitely has given Brightbill something that tasted gross (like how parents give their baby lemon to see their reaction)
He’s probably taken one of Brightbill’s baby photos to put in his den for the winter.
Attacked the fish that attacked Brightbill. Bro wanted revenge.
Hates lemon grass. He just doesn’t like it.
He hates squirrels and they hate him.
Definitely has pulled the “where is he?” Thing when Brightbill was right next to him (pretended Brightbill was invisible to mess with him) yeah Brightbill cried…. He let him sleep in his bed with him that night. He felt a little bad.
Cw: Obsession, Dissociation, trauma, he's just a tad misunderstood, reader is held hostage.
@itsscromp
You had moved to Manchester for many reasons. A better job, a better life, and most importantly, to get away from your family. You wanted nothing to do with them. You could no longer take the abuse and the hell that they put you through.
Manchester was far enough away they wouldn't think to come find you. Even if they cared, which you doubt they did.
This was a chance for new life, to start over fresh. Admittedly, being new to this whole new rush was a lot to handle. Manchester was not as desolate as your previous residence so it was definitely strange.
You got an apartment just twenty minutes from your work that you picked up at a local coffee shop. Life was turning out for your favor as you tried to be your own person.
You woke up each day and headed to work, walking in to the sound of the small bell and greeting your coworkers.
"Hello y/n." One of them greeted you with a smile.
"Hiya, how are you doing?" You asked, getting your apron.
"Pretty good. We're a bit busy today, I'm glad you're here." He said.
"Oh, I can imagine." You moved toward the end of the large counter, cleaning a small mess and watching out the window as the world passed by. Seeing all the people and the cars flowing down the roads and sidewalks. It was a calming thing you could focus on. Something you could rely on to be consistent.
Well, almost.
Since getting your new job you couldn't help feeling like you were being watched. Possibly just a side effect of moving to a new place and still settling in. Still unsure of the people and destinations. It would go away eventually when you were sure this was home.
Sat in the corner, a dark mass of black hoodie and covered facial features sat a rather large man. Drinking tea quietly. You've noticed him a few times. In the hustle and bustle of the small shop sometimes even his huge figure got lost in the deafening sounds of patrons. While he barely moved, barely made a sound.
He was a regular. You didn't know his name. He didn't bother talking to anyone and no one talked to him. Though it seemed that everyone knew him. The other employees seemed to be afraid of him. One way or another he intimidated people, but hell what did you know?
Over the next few weeks, you only felt that sickening paranoia grow. Even if you were settling, it made your skin crawl. Feeling eyes on you at all times. Leading to you closing the windows and blinds of your apartment and constantly checking the door lock. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you watch TV.
You tried to move the couch back against the wall in hopes it would make you feel grounded. But it didn't help much.
This is what you get for moving, you thought to yourself.
There was no way someone could've followed you, right? You were sure that none of your family had a clue where you went. Hell, they probably wouldn't want to. So what the fuck was this?
You sat there, trying to shake the feeling, to forget about it. You needed to sleep, not freak out over the possibilities of what could happen.
But you weren't wrong. You weren't alone. Someone was watching you. Their little obsession starting to simmer. They had seen you around, they had their eyes on you. Watching you at work, to getting in your car and heading to your apartment. Watching, keeping an eye on you as the obsession inside their veins coiled until it was suffocating with tension.
He watched you. He always did. He didn't like how close you were to your friends or how friendly you were to strangers. Such a foolish one. But he would keep watch over you. He could always hear the conversations you had with a close coworker about how you even ended up in Manchester. Your parents were abusive, and controlling and never accepted the parts of you they didn't like.
He understood. That's why he looked out for you. He felt a kinship of sorts. You were younger than him and had escaped from that abuse on your terms. But this world is a sickening place.
You should know that by now, don't you?
"Why do you look at him so much?" A coworker asked you. You nearly jumped out of your skin.
"Huh?"
Your coworkers nodded off to the corner where the man sat alone as usual, slowly drinking his tea so it would last the length of your shift. Sometimes he'd stay late if you did, knowing you were too kind to refuse to take up extra work for the money. He couldn't let you stay too long out here alone. No, no it couldn't happen.
You shrugged, looking at your coworker. "I was just thinking, not looking."
Your co-worker looking at you for a long moment before shrugging and going to help someone. When you looked back, your gazes met. You were a little startled to feel the intensity of his gaze on you. His eyes brewing into your soul, ensnared by you just standing there. He needed to watch you.
He was watching you more and more frequently. You'd feel his gaze and the hairs on the back of your neck would rise, sending a chill through you.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
By the 5:00 mark, you and only a few other people were still in the shop. You yawned, deciding to clock out, having been there since twelve. You said goodbye to the remaining staff, grabbing your bag and coat. Dark eyes followed you as you slid out from behind the counter and headed out of the shop.
No less than two minutes had passed before the man in the corner stood, throwing out his long empty drink and slipping out the door after you.
The man followed close behind, staying back and not alerting you. You were too distracted, tired, and ready to just fall into bed.
You could've sworn the man was following you, you had a feeling that you'd felt since the beginning. Eventually looking back and spotting him. Of all the times to leave... Your heartbeat picked up in your chest, quickly walked to your car at the far end of the parking lot, and got in, locking the doors. But the man wasn't in obvious sight. So you left. And quickly.
You made it home, walking inside the building hurriedly and up to your apartment. Doing a double take before going inside. That same feeling still stuck with you. You headed to the window and pulled the blinds closed. Pulling out your phone to call a co-worker.
"Hey Y/n, what's up?"
"I think someone is stalking me..."
"What?" They asked. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure, I saw it... Can you stay over tonight??" You looked out the window again quickly, scanning the parking lot and finding no one. Were you seriously just paranoid?
Each moment waiting for them felt too tense.
You watched from the window until you saw your coworker's car pull up. Checking the peephole and inviting them in. "F/n..."
"Hey, calm down. Let's watch a movie and talk about this." They smiled, trying to cheer you up.
You both curled up on the couch and watched a movie. Though you were still on edge.
"Hey, it'll be ok. I'm sure it'll be ok." They squeezed your shoulder and tried to make you feel better. But your face only grew grimmer than before. You squeezed their hand back, looking away from the film to the window. Closed off by thick curtains, being still they didnèt make you feel better. You felt like his eyes were still on you. Stalking and looking deep inside you.
After the movie ended, you asked f/n if they could stay. "I just don't feel like being alone right now."
"Ok, I can stay." They nodded, which set you at ease slightly.
You brought them to the spare bedroom and set them up in there. You laid out the old blankets and regrettably left the room.
"Goodnight Y/n." They called softly as they turned out their nightlight.
"Yeah... Goodnight.." You felt like with F/n acting so easy about the situation you were just paranoid. You were seeing and hearing things. They had told you it was just you getting used to the place. No one ever feels at home in their house for the first little bit. You sighed, pulling the blanket tight and closing your fist against your chest. You closed your eyes and let the darkness of your room take over. Slowly lulling you to sleep and pulling you into a sense of security.
He walked into the parking lot, thumb rubbing over the sheath of his blade, walking toward the sidewalk. He frowned softly, seeing the car parked next to yours. He looked at the license plate and the contents of the items in the car. He pulled out his blade and dragged it along the side of the car, digging it angrily into the metal.
He walked up to the building and walked inside, jamming the lock to the second door and pressing the elevator button. His stomach swam with exhilarating emotions as he went up to your floor. The light reflected the buttons of the floors off his pupils. His pupils expanded in pure excitement and anger all knotted deep within him.
He walked down the carpeted hallway. His heart throbbed inside his chest, reaching your room. He saw the number of the door, running his finger over the peephole.
From his sweater he pulled out some tools, sliding them slowly into the door handle.
Inside the door, you stirred slightly but stayed asleep.
His tongue poked out between his teeth, working the lock quietly. He could hear the clinks of the tumblers. He could smell your cologne in the hall, your perfume, everything. He wanted to taste your skin, he wanted to feel the life flow through your body.
The lock clicked, and the handle turned, the door pushed open slowly.
He walked in, the light coming in from the streetlights illuminated the living room enough that he could navigate. He walked quietly past the living room. Spotting photos on the wall. He looked at pictures of you with old friends from your homeland. Your smile when in the presence of others.
He frowned, moving forward and seeing the door of the bedroom. He walked slowly and silently. Listening closely to the sound of your breathing, the rustling of sheets. The bed frame squeaked quietly. His pupils dilated as he pushed the door open slightly and walked inside, looking down at where you slept. He walked over, slowing his breath and squatting down in front of you. Seeing your relaxed face. Your hair was messy and your clothes haphazardly discarded on the floor. He saw the trinkets on your nightstand and an old glass of water from earlier.
He slowly stood and inspected further into the room, looking at the posters on your walls. So this was who you were.
He looked back at you and walked over, gently reaching his hand out, running his fingers across your cheek, down to your jaw, and stopping at your chin. He gripped the flesh slightly.
The softness of your skin made him shiver, his stomach coiled and twisted. He didn't have any foul intentions, but something about finally getting within contact range of you fucked with his mind. He breathed heavier, gently fixing your hair, rather lovingly. He smiled softly as he watched you like you meant the entire world.
And you did.
You were the reason for everything.
He could never let you go, never leave you. He needed you.
He had to watch over you and protect you.
He gently stroked your cheek, until he heard the hallway floorboards creak. Footsteps patterned across the ground to the bathroom, flicking the light on and turning on the light. His eyes widened a little. He looked down at you and sadly pulled his hand away. He stood and walked back to the door. He listened until he heard the footsteps move back across the hallway and he slipped out.
He didn't want to leave you.
But he needed to.
He closed the door slowly and locked it. Before heading back down the hallway.
You groaned, rolling over and burying your head into the pillow. Your heart pounded in your chest and you looked at the door. Tears filled your eyes. You'd felt his hand on your face. You'd felt his breath brush against your face. Your hands trembled as you tried to keep quiet. You were unable to fall back asleep until the sunlight peaked through your curtains. Your clock for work went off and you rigidly sat up.
You looked over to your nightstand where your keys stayed. You saw one of your keychains missing from it. Your hands trembled as you picked it up, seeing the missing key ring.
How had someone come in and taken it? How did they get inside the building? You stood and walked to the living room, checking the lock. It was jammed and didn't want to work. This only confirmed your horrific suspicions If you had moved in that last moment he was in your house who knows what he could have done. You stood there until your coworker came out, their footsteps made you jump and turn to see them. "F-F/n.."
"Hey, everything ok?" They came over and noticed you fiddling with your keys.
"Hey, relax." They took your hand and led you to the couch. They rubbed your back and looked at your fidgety hands.
"He was here..." You whisper and look at them.
"What? No one was here last night except me."
"No... F/n, he was here. He- he took-" You tried to show them the keychain but the adrenaline and panic made you unable to speak. You dropped your head and took a shaky breath. "I'm calling in."
"Yeah, I'll call in for you. Just relax. We can stay here, or go back to my place." They offered, and you nodded.
"I'm gonna go get changed." You said, going to your room and changing. You took a deep, rubbing your head and trying to calm yourself down. Your hands were clamping and you couldn't get yourself straight. Knowing that he had gotten into your house. He hadn't stolen, he was staring at you. It was like you could feel the intense gaze he gave you burning into you. He only wanted you. And for what?
You tried to get your head in straight and headed for the door. Your heart pounded when you opened it, seeing someone at the door.
"F/n-"
And then your brain caught up with you. F/n was just on the phone with you, they did not get here that quickly. And that was not F/n.
You tried to shut the door, but he already had his hand inside. He had come back from getting you breakfast and he didn't expect you to be up yet. He forced the door open effortlessly and looked down at you.
"Get out!" You managed to cry turning away from the door and running for your room. His gait was bigger than yours, and he managed to catch you before you could get anywhere close to your room.
"Don't!! I'll scream-" His hand clasped around your mouth and he held you gently, but tight enough to keep you still.
"Shush." He brought you somewhere comfortable and dropped you there. "You can't do that."
He knew he was doing the right thing. He couldn't let you get hurt, he couldn't. He grabbed some zip ties from his pocket and got your wrists tightly. You squirmed, biting your tongue and attempting to kick him. "Let me go!!"
"I said shush." He adjusted himself and then sat you up. He gently fluffed your pillow and grabbed the mace from your bedside table.
"Stay. Good." He smiled softly. Now you'll be safe. You won't get hurt, not like he did. He won't let family hurt you, he won't let friends hurt you, and nothing will get in his way...
He'll deal with all your friends later.
He closed your bedroom door and placed a chair underneath. Leaving you in there with your own thoughts, unsure what to do...
(Not me accidentally pushing the post button while rushing. That's a Whoopsie... Might do a part 2, on top of serial killer Simon!)
*presents to you* price being a father figure to you and bringing you back to meet his wife where she treats you like her child 😭😭😭😭
Three makes a family.
John Price's history with his inability to have children was a rough one. His wife was a gentle woman with the heart of a lion inside. She had all the care a mother could provide and no children she could pour her love into. It was a struggle, but over the years they'd made due with themselves.
The idea of adoption has come up a few times, but John doesn't like the thought of being away so much from said child. It just wasn't a good situation they had found themselves in.
Price creating the 141 was just one of those ways that Price felt what it might be like to have family. Sure, he got his fair experience of what rounding up a gaggle of children would have been like. But he enjoyed the feeling of having fellow adults he could meet on his level while feeling paternal toward them.
You are one of them.
Price has had his fair share of wild run ins with you. And he's no stranger to getting you and John for something. But you were a good soldier regardless.
Talk of his family was limited of course. You guys knew he didn't have children, but not much more than that. Simon had been to the house before but refused to tell, it wasn't the greatest time when you visited anyway.
But now it's your turn to take up the mantle. Price's wife had decided she wanted company over at the house when he returned, so he invited one of you in secret as to not make the others potentially jealous or crowd his wife.
And that's how you got here, in the busy rush of the airport and following Price like a loet lamb to find the exit after grabbing your bags. Price looked around for his wife, and he spotted a sign with his name, and the most beautiful woman.
He smiled and led you over, falling in love all over again when he saw her.
"John!" She put the sign down and rushed to hug him, his firm arms curling around her. "Rebecca." *He replied fondly, kissing the top of her head. She had chest length blonde hair and a simple but lovely complexion.
You couldn't help a little smile at seeing them reunited, and a tad sheepish at meeting your captain's wife.
She opened her eyes, still smooshed against his chest and waved at you softly.
You waved back shyly.
They pulled away and Rebecca held out her hand to you. "Rebecca, and you are-"
"Everyone on base calls me Egg."
"Ah, John has told me a lot about you." She motioned for you two to follow her, walking with you back to the entrance of the airport.
"Wait- what has he been saying??" You cocked an eyebrow up.
"Only good things I promise." Price said quickly, to which Rebecca chuckled and shook her head softly.
You shot Price a look, and he innocently turned his head away to look back at his wife like nothing happened.
Rebecca gave you an entire window tour on the way back. You didn't mind listening to her introduce you to everything you passed. Her tone was warm and her smile never left her lips when he addressed you. It made you feel welcome, it was such a warm feeling that you felt around Price. Fitting.
Their house was beautiful, as much as London homes are, but theirs had a particular charm to it. Like a newly wed couple buying their first house together and never moving.
You lugged your bags up the driveway and into the house behind Rebecca, Price keeping the door open for you.
"Your place is nice." You commented when you put your bags down.
"Thank you. The spare bedroom is upstairs, I'll show you." She slipped her shoes off and motioned for you to follow.
The spare bedroom was a queen mattress, the walls were a light baby blue, and it made you smile. "Child's room?" You asked without thinking, and soon realizing your mistake.
Rebecca smiled, though her eyes dimmed in sadness. "We'd hoped. But you can have it." She went to the closet and pulled out some extra blankets. "In case it gets cold you can layer up. And if you need anything in here don't hesitate to tell us."
You nodded. "Thank you, I will."
Price squeezed your shoulder as you went to set up the room, and then turned to greet his wife properly with a loving kiss.
---
The first couple days at the house were nice, Rebecca was incredibly hospitable. She accommodated what you needed, and the double attention from Price was a win for you.
Rebecca couldn't help seeing you as a kiddo for her to take care of. The way Price was with you, wrapping an arm around you for snuggles or teasing you at dinner.
"Do you like cookies??" She asked from the kitchen as she kneaded the small balls of cookie dough and placed them on a tray.
"Cookies sound good. What kind??" You looked over at her from the table.
"Just chocolate chip. I figured I'd go simple."
You smiled a little. "Yeah, that sounds nice."
She nodded and finished putting the cookies on the tray and slid them into the oven. "They'll be out in a bit." She came by and gently patted your shoulder, a comforting touch from her.
Price came in from the patio after having a smoke and coughed when he walked in.
Rebecca and you both looked at him when he entered.
"John, be careful." Rebecca scolded softly, walking over and lifting his chin, seeing his tired eyes. She sighed softly and took his hand. "Go relax darling, a nap will do you more good than a cigar."
He hummed and shrugged. He tiredly stole a kiss from her lips before he had to lean into his arm to cough again.
You put your phone down and lightly shake your head. "Come on Captain."
Price huffed indignantly. "Oh so now both of you are policing me around??" He smirked and tugged Rebecca in by her waist and allowed you over.
But he didn't fight, allowing himself to be led to bed, and he flopped down, feeling you curl up to his left side, and Rebecca got comfy with a book at his other.
Price squeezed her hand and ruffled your hair. He wasn't old, but mannnn, he loves his old man naps.
You smiled as you got comfy, looking up at Rebecca. She looked back at you and smiled too, letting you rest.
And you woke up to the delicious smell of chocolate chip cookies. Price searched lazily for Rebecca, his arm still securely wrapped around you.
You yawned and rolled, hiding against his chest. He patted your shoulder and looked over at the door. "C'mon... I smell cookies."
"Ok..." You groaned and managed to drag yourself off of Price's chest and follow him downstairs where Rebecca was reading at the table.
"Cookies are ready." She said when she heard you two, smiling softly.
"Thank you, darling." Price said sleepily, going to the stove and taking up a cookie.
You hummed excitedly and also went for one. "Gooey." You said between bites, "I like them."
"I'm glad I could make them for you two."
She was like Price to you, a strong rock, and a warm embrace. She was like a mother, and that made you happy as much as it did her. She'd give anything to be a mother, and she wasn't picky of who it was she got to cherish.
(I know there's a lot of her character we've digested over a long time, this was the best I could come up with. I'm on a time crunch but take this. 🙂)
A/N: It has been an extremely busy and stressful couple months for me, plus I am working on several big projects as well as getting dragged back into the marvel fandom with the new D&W movie. And I know I still have a lot that I need to get out for my buddy, and he's been incredibly patient with me. That's his gift to me, and I wanted to give him a little something back as it's his birthday. @itsscromp I hope you enjoy this little royalty AU that I scrapped together. I had a lot of ideas for this and I struggled with figuring out something, and I didn't want it to be a stupid birthday themed post... But as my schedule fucked me sideways on a bed of nails, that's what I've brought you.
3.4K+ words.
The Birthday of a Prince/Princess.
The sun glimmered through the window, its warmth casting over your face, washing you on the new day. The curtains flickered softly, the soft satin pushed out of the way by firm hands and tied back by the delicate fabric's rods. The sun's warmth is welcome on the quiet August morning, your eyelids slowly flickering open.
The sun fills your soft irises, the glow reflecting their warmth. The sun was your body's reminder to rise and you stretched your arms high above your head, knuckles brushing against the wood headrest. An involuntary yawn as your toes wiggled to lose that sluggish feeling that fills you early in the morning.
Your gaze flickered toward the window, a soft smile graced your lips when Simon turned back to you after fixing the curtains. He placed his gloved hand back on the pommel of the sword at his hip, the chainmail across his broad chest clinks and slides, a familiar sound you'd grown to listen for his presence.
"Good morning." You whispered, your voice not ready to conjure up much else.
Simon gave you a respectful nod. "Good morning, Your Highness." He paused briefly, "Did you sleep well? I figured you could use the extra hours." It was your birthday after all. Usually, you'd be up much earlier, your mother talking off your ear at the breakfast table. Or your father would have you out in the crisp autumn air for archery, the air soaking into the layers of your clothing and sinking into your bones. But today you could sleep in. Today is your birthday.
"Mm, thank you, Simon. I did."
He nodded again and stood post by your bedside, allowing you to take your time. As you rubbed your eyes and sat up, a knock came to the door, prompting Simon's hand to tighten briefly on his sword, but it was just morning coffee.
"Your Highness." The maid wandered over, wary of Simon's incredible stature as she set the tray of coffee and tea on the small table inside your room.
"Thank you." You swung your feet over the side of the bed and yawned again to shake yourself free of the night, the claws of sleep releasing from deep within your shoulders and sinking back into the darkness.
"What's on our schedule again?" You prompted Simon while you went for coffee, craving the sweet medieval version of a modern-day coke shot. (Positive.)
Simon adjusted his stance and kept a watchful eye on you, a fond one. He'd mellowed out a lot over the years, you remember when he first became your knight and it was all about the rules and following the higher-ups. Well, he's learned from you that sometimes it can be fun to ignore said rules.
"Well, a certain king is coming over for lunch, his knight and a certain poet might also be there." He said casually, but you perked up, a little smile crossing your face.
"After lunch, I hear they have a few surprises for you, and there may be some archery." He paused for dramatic effect. "But that's all speculation."
You chuckled. "Oh yes, "speculation", get down here and have some tea mister." You beckoned him over, and he wouldn't deny another delicious cup of tea. He took his sword off his belt and laid it down, kneeling across from you at the table and picking up the cup of tea you offered him. "Thank you, Your Highness."
You raised your cup to clink his, knowing it always made his eyes roll, and right on cue, there it was. That long, dramatic flick of his eyes, amber catching the light from the window and lighting up like gold. You always told him they were beautiful, but he was quick to dismiss your antics and go back to his post like you weren't a little pain in his ass.
"I hate tea parties." He said monotonously.
"Mm, not with me." You tilted your head and gave him a cheeky smile.
"You're lucky it's your birthday, kid."
-------
Once you had gotten dressed you slipped on a light coat and wandered out to the garden to breathe in the fresh air and stretch your legs somewhere outside of cobblestone floors and delicate tapestries at every corner. Here you could get some peace, away from the hustle and bustle of every servant and worker wishing to entertain your every will and whim.
Simon followed. The slide of chainmail and the shift of his boots remained faithful to your ear while you walked. His hand rested at his hip, his gaze scanning over you, and then down at the flowers that sprung up from the ground and branched toward the sun. Would it be too forward to think they might be greeting you? Maybe if it were possible he'd make it seem so. He didn't like to get melancholy but wanted to do more for you every day.
The bushes rustled beside you, and Simon was immediately snapped from his thoughts, sword breaking away from the clasp of his sheath, but your hand rested on his forearm to stop him.
"Just the animals." You watched the bush as some birds fluttered away, causing a squirrel to scramble from his hiding spot to a new one.
Simon huffed and slowly returned his sword, and he could feel the grin widening on your face. "Shush."
"Did it scare you?" You snickered, and Simon resisted to get you back for constantly teasing him. Although, he teased you back just as much, so maybe this birthday is just a big prank on him.
"Was just thinking too much." He grumbled but didn't attempt to push your hand off his arm. Instead, you tightened the hold, leaning into him. "Oh, dangerous. I can't have you thinking you have free will. What if you ran off?"
"You're weird." He reached a gloved hand to ruffle your hair into your eyes, forcing you to release him to fix it. "Ah- how dare you!"
He snickered, lightly shaking his head, and returned to his strong stature, looking away from you when you fixed your hair. "Just you wait mister." You stuck your finger near his face, and under that stupid mask, you could feel that cheeky little smirk.
But you loved it. It took you a while to get to this point with him, but you wouldn't take it back for the world. He remained the same man who could effortlessly cut down anyone he thought would test your life while letting you sleep in for your birthday.
-------
It was nearing lunch when Simon got word from the guards that their important guest had arrived on time and safely. Which was good for him, if they hadn't arrived safely then that would have been one sucky birthday present. He turned from the guard who notified him to where you were lounging in your chair, flicking your fingers carelessly.
He cleared his throat, breaking your ritual of connecting your fingers, and bringing your gaze to him.
"His Highness Price is here."
He couldn't help but be slightly jealous when your eyes lit up when you heard his name. John had been a longtime friend of the family, and he would show appreciation with constant visits in between calming whatever flaring war his troublemaker of a partner Nik was stirring.
"Let them in." You stood from your chair and adjusted your clothing, rushing after Simon as you headed to the main hall. Simon made a quick motion with his hand at the guards posted there and they were quick to open the doors to the castle.
Beyond the rows of guards that wandered the outcrop of cobblestone and gated groves was a large carriage manned by two brilliant caramel-colored horses.
The door of the carriage opened and Kyle stepped down from the carriage. His armor clanked, grooves of his kingdom's emblem flickering off his chest in the light. He turned, allowing Price to step out next.
He was always watching his surroundings as the taller man pulled his cloak from the carriage and fixed his hat. His beard was trimmed neatly and his firm blue eyes scanned the familiar grounds before landing on you and your knight.
He wandered over, nodding to you and Simon. "There's our birthday royal." He smiled at you, his expression reminding you of an adorable and fuzzy animal you saw in a book once. You bowed to him as he approached. Simon begrudgingly bowed as well, although of all the people he's met Price is the only one he respects enough.
When you rose, Price gently cupped your cheeks and gave you a brief kiss on the cheek, examining you. Sure it had almost been a year since he'd seen you but he needed to get a look at his kiddo, see if you were A-ok.
"Simon looking after you?" He asked firmly, flicking a teasing gaze over at the knight.
"Yes, he has been. I couldn't ask for someone better." You chuckled, your hands cupping Price's forearms, squeezing gently. "Thank you for coming. It means a lot."
"You know I wouldn't miss this."
The carriage rustled, rocking slightly on its frame as a large bag was tossed out the side, along with a bow, a sword, and some miscellaneous things that didn't fit in the sack.
The horses huffed and the cart jostled once more before Johnny forced himself out, stumbling over the sack on the ground and barely catching himself. "First of all-!" He reached up to grab his hat, huffing loudly, pointing an accusatory finger at Price. "I was not sleeping!"
"Need help with that?" Kyle offered as Johnny bent down to pick up his weapons and bag. "No." Johnny huffed and stomped off.
"Oh brother…" Simon muttered, his hand resting on his pommel. Not afraid Johnny would hurt you, but to guard himself against this man who keeps trying to be his best friend.
Despite being somewhat clumsy and often mistaken for an intelligent sot, John MacTavish had served in the king's court as one of his few trusted strategists, astrologists, and scientists, and a poet on the side.
"Hey Johnny." You chuckled softly, watching him and Kyle walk over. "And Kyle."
"Your Highness." Kyle put his palms to his hips and bowed respectfully. "It's good to be here with you." He took your hand and pressed a gentle kiss against the ring there. Hell, he was a charmer, but he was respectful, it's just who he was.
"I am hungry." Johnny patted his stomach, letting it to the introduction for him.
Price shook his head in dismay and took his two companions with you inside to find some food. You led them down to the dining hall where the large table awaited. It was meant for a larger group of people. You were glad it was just for the few of you, and your parents weren't home.
"Have a seat, they'll bring food out soon." You smiled as you sat in your usual spot, the chair stretching much taller than your actual stature so the decorative part of the wood gave off a crown-like look.
"So, how have you been? Another turn around the sun, how does it feel?" Price asked, adjusting his robe to lay across the arm of the chair, Kyle sitting next to him and respectfully putting his sword aside.
"Oh, it's been… it's been a lot. I have more responsibilities each year and sometimes I wish I could sleep every day." You chuckled softly. "I even started to think Royals just couldn't have good birthdays."
"Well, you're more than worth celebrating." Price said, and the others made various noises of agreement.
And Johnny's favorite part of these visits… The food.
"Oho hohoh, yes! Price, we have got to get this stuff back home." He could smell the meat from a mile away. When the various carts of food came out and the platters were put on the table, it was much more than you'd originally expected.
But you weren't disappointed whatsoever. Johnny stacked his plate high, Price considered reprimanding him, but upon seeing your amused smile he figured it could slide this time.
"So, don't you have some big fancy party or something?" Kyle piped up from where he also served himself.
You shrugged. "Yes, my parents have always been… that way. But I convinced them to let me have another year with a day just for my friends. Because come on, I don't my birthday to also become diplomatic."
"And I don't get paid enough to supervise them." Simon piped up, before getting an elbow in the side, which hurt you more than it hurt him. "You like me so much."
"Debatable," Simon replied, a coy smile spreading across his lips when he pulled his mask down from his nose around his throat so he could eat. For a bit the clinking of utensils was all that filled the silence as you dug into the meal, getting settled.
"Did you guys get me anything?" You perked up.
"A ho-"
Price shot Johnny a firm look, and Johnny quickly bit his tongue, "Oooar-nnothing. Nothing. No presents this year, sorry. We ran out of- m-money…"
Price gently flicked him, to which Johnny shrugged. "I'm excited! I get nervous when I'm excited." He whisper-yelled. Imagine having ADHD in medieval times… We feel ya Johnny, RIP.
You chuckled, and Price shook his head again.
"Sorry, I've been told I usually have good table manners." Johnny shoved another bite of food into his mouth to ensure he didn't spoil anything else. "Unlike our Johnny here would lead you to believe, I did bring gifts. And I'm sure you will like them."
"Coming from you guys I'm sure I will."
Simon huffed quietly. Watch his present be the best… How dare they steal his friend's attention. Impossible. He doesn't have unhealthy coping mechanisms for love at all. Ignore him.
-------
Toward the end of the lunch Price called for one of his servants and had the man bring in several presents from their carriage. The two presents on the table before you ranged from a small scroll to a larger box. And Price's gift apparently could not fit inside the castle…
"Open mine first." Johnny piped up. He'd worked on that gift all night and enthusiastically nudged it toward you. Simon gave him a little glare, but Johnny was too excited to care about getting suddenly beheaded. You looked like you were having fun!
"Ok, ok, I will." You took the scroll and slowly untied it, pressing the paper down to read the scratchy handwriting that was unmistakably Johnny's.
You're a star.
Today is the birthday Of a very special star.
And the older stars shine best
Especially from afar
This star has shone brightly
All the year through
And in case you are wondering
That star is you.
(Plays sad violin in unoriginal.)
You smiled softly, looking up at Johnny. "Johnny… Thank you, this means a lot." You smiled softly, and his smile grew twice as wide.
"Don't thank me, it's true."
You tucked the poem away so you could keep it safe with all the other ones you had from him and moved on to the larger present. "Now what could this be." You eyed Kyle who sat rigid in his chair, watching as you opened it up.
Inside lay a masterfully crafted bow. Intricate detail went down the body, gold linings in the weapon and the metal had been refined and polished to mesmerize. "Woah."
You slowly pulled the heavy bow out, feeling it in your hands and resting it against your forearm. "This is beautiful. You made this?"
Kyle nodded softly. "My own two hands." He gave you a smile when he saw your awe over the work. Kyle was known for these sorts of things, and man, he never disappointed. This might be up there with the giant map Johnny drew you once for your 18th. It was currently hung on your bedroom wall.
"Thank you so much." You gently placed the weapon back down, nodding to him. And he nodded back softly.
"Alright Price…" You turned and looked at him. Price chuckled warmly and stood, nodding to you. "Come, I'll show you."
You grabbed your coat and quickly followed after him, Gaz, Johnny, and Simon following in line behind. Price walked out to the carriage, which had been put away and the horses grazing, and turned back toward you.
He gently placed his hand on one of the caramel-colored horses. "This beauty-"
Johnny bit his lip and exhaled a sharp breath of air. "Hoooorse." He whispered. Whew, he got it out.
"Oh, wow." You nodded, but then the ethics came into question. What the hell were you going to do with another horse? He knew you well enough that you liked horses as much as the next person, but you already have a horse!
"And before you say it." John puts a hand up. "They can be friends. Horses love friends."
"You got my horse a horse-friend?" You whispered, looking at the pretty horse. It was a beautiful animal, yes, you could agree.
"Yes, seems fairly reasonable to me. No?"
You chuckled softly and walked over, hugging him warmly. "I'll take the horse, thank you." You snickered.
"You're welcome." He patted your back softly.
You had a funny little assortment of friends. And you spent the majority of the day with them. You tested your new bow on the range, getting Kyle's assistance with the weight, and shooting through his makeshift targets.
You even did some sparring with them, enjoying watching everyone go at it and have a fun time. You chuckled when Simon nearly ran away when Price challenged him to fight. But he powered through, your little fighter.
And when Simon was drenched in sweat and panting, he returned to your side, ready to finally talk to you.
"Hey…" He dropped his sword into the grass and removed the metal helmet for the fight.
"I have to talk to you now." It was a statement, you'd come to know that tone well. It was when he felt strong enough to come to you with something.
You smiled softly. "Go on."
Simon kneeled slowly before you, reaching for something. "I don't have much for you…" He lifted a crown that he must have pulled from mid-air, smiling softly at you. "Would you like to be King/Queen?" He smiled at you proudly, and you blinked.
"Is… is that my dad's?"
"What? No, It's - It's not his. Shit." He tossed it behind him and smiled again, showing you his bare hands. "I figured since you always want to do things yourself. You always talk about wanting to rule-"
"You killed my parents!??"
"I thought you wanted to be ruler. So yea… That's why they weren't here for your birthday! Someone will find them I'm sure."
You were horrified. Simon killed your parents!?
-------
Ok, We have to pause this for a moment. Yeah, He does this all the time. You know, Simon isn't a great creative writing partner, He's a little crazy. I always have to go back and rewrite and edit the shit he does to fics, so I'm calling him out. I have to talk to him about putting him in these things. We can't be doing this Simon! God, sorry, sorry…
-------
Simon kneeled before you, taking a deep breath and looking up at you. "So… maybe I wasn't able to get you a present. I have to keep an eye on you 24/7 and I couldn't find the time with all the rushing around we did-" He snatched up a lily from the garden of the training area, placing it gently into your hand.
"But I want to promise you, that as I have every year, I'll do everything for you. And I'm glad you aren't a power-hungry maniac who makes me kiss your toes every day. You've given me a lot of room. So, thank you."
You smiled softly, gently bringing him back to his feet. "I don't need gifts, but I'm glad to have you. You opened up to me and you've become one of my best friends. And I get to see you every day. Is that not a present in and of itself?"
He huffed softly. "I guess so."
He gently ruffled your hair. "Happy Birthday, Your Highness."
I've been having so much freaking fun with the concord beta and I don't want it to end :(. Side note, The lore of the world and arcs of characters are a little limited right now, so I'm just going off of what I know :D. Word count:1.8K
The freegunners, Oh man did you want to be a part of their adventures, God they were so cool. You had a couple of favourites too, Lennox, Teo, Haymar and Daw. You would always gush about them with a couple of your friends. It was just amazing...
"Y/n !! Get back to work !!" Your boss broke you out of your daydream, Shit that's right you were on the clock.
"Y...Yes boss !!" You ushered back to work.
This was your life, Not as exciting as their adventures, You were belittled by your boss and got no respect from most of your colleagues, save for the said friends. You absolutely hated it.
But then... from word of mouth, your friend managed to catch that the freegunners were coming to the planet for a job. When you all clocked in, they went up to you.
"Hey, They're gonna be here" They smiled at you.
"Who ??" You perked up from what you were doing.
"The freegunners dude, go say hi, ask them for the trial" They gently punched your shoulder, trying to hype you up.
"I don't think I have a shot" You shrugged.
"Hey come on now, Don't get stuck down here by the what if's and what you think you should be doing, You were born to be a freegunner"
You looked at them, beginning to contemplate what they were saying. "Yeah... Yeah your right" You nodded, more determined.
"There ya go, Now it is said they'll dock in later today at the *Place name*" they gave you the information.
And with one last nod of encouragement from your friend, You flipped your boss off and quit your job on the spot, heading to the location where they said the ship would be. Sure enough, it was there, You felt instant butterflies in your stomach as you approached the ship, seeing the door open. You wondered if you should wait for them, But you didn't have to think long when a giant yellow robot appeared.
"Greetings citizen, I am 1-0ff" He greeted.
"Woah... 1-0ff.."
"Yes, that is me" He said enthusiastically. "Is there anything that I can help you with ??"
"Uhh... Yeah um... Is... Lennox and Haymar here ??" You could hear the what-ifs again start to circulate in your head. But you did your to keep them quiet, you wanted this.
"Oh, They are currently out at the moment, Is there something I can help you with ??"
"I wanna join the freegunners"
Later, Lennox and Haymar came back and saw you two chatting and getting to know one another.
"Uh, 1-0ff ?? Who's the stowaway ??" Lennox asked.
"Oh your back, This is y/n l/n, They would like to join our crew" He said to them happily.
"Hate to break it to you kid, we aren't taking recruits" Lennox shook his head sympathetically.
"Wait wait... please... Can I just explain my story ??" You looked at them with a sincere look.
Haymar and Lennox looked at each other and then turned back to you. "Why not" Haymar shrugged.
So you then began to tell the tale of your life, It was sad... like deeply... Lennox and Haymar started to feel sympathy towards you. 1-0ff just wanted to wrap you up in a warm blanket and give you the biggest hug possible.
"So... that's why I would like to join the freegunners" You finished off.
"I'm really sorry about that y/n... But like Lennox said" Haymar spoke before getting interrupted by him.
"Woah woah woah, Haymar, Come on. Let's give the kid a chance, They seem to have potential" He nodded to you as he looked at her.
She sighed and then looked back at you. "Ok, Here's the next mission, We've been tasked to find this blue buddy that contains valuable intel for the client. We'll give this the trial shift for you"
"Thank you... I won't let you guys down."
Much later, You found yourself in a restaurant in Crater City, What you thought would've been a simple retrieval job, ended up being a freaking circus !!.
"That wasn't the plan" You whisper yelled, clearly still jumpy.
"It was a spontaneous creative decision after years of careful research" Lennox says as he dabs a huge amount of his hot sauce onto his lunch.
"Being really old and almost dying a bunch doesn't count as research" Haymar snarked at him.
"Almost dying is the best way of learning how not to die" He said with food in his mouth. "Besides, It worked didn't it ??"
You looked over to the blue buddy. "How much longer for the upload ??"
"A few more minutes, Hey star child" Star child in question was a behemoth, probably the biggest person you had ever seen in the galaxy. "Try it with hot sauce, You'll like it trust me, same with you y/n" He passed you the bottle before Haymar took it off him.
"Do not trust him"
"Woah, Where is this coming from ??" Lennox raised an eyebrow.
"It's coming from you back on the ship saying 'Trust me, we're professionals, we'll stick to the plan we can do this' and then that" She points to the TV which was playing the breaking news of your heist. Thank god they didn't get you on camera.
"That was not the plan" You spoke up.
"Technically it was a plan. It just wasn't the same plan that we started with." Lennox said with more food in his mouth.
"If we don't leave with this" Haymar growled.
"Haymar, we will... we will" He looked at her reassuringly and at you as well.
You both sighed, getting out of your chairs. "We'll be waiting outside."
But before you could leave the place, you were immediately surrounded by what seemed to be a rival crew who was also chasing the blue buddy.
"No one move" The "bartender" Raised her pistols "We'll be taking this off your hands"
"What ?? This ??" Haymar raised the bottle of hot sauce.
"Funny" The bartender said as she slid over the countertop and took the blue buddy. You needed to get it back.. so with looks from you, Haymar and Lennox, Haymar tossed the hot sauce bottle into the air and Lennox shot at it, causing a quick distraction, You tried to retrieve it but it was too late, they began to run off.
Another crew member named Vale got the upper hand by tagging them with her sniper. "Slowed them down a little for you, Meet at the rendevous point"
"Wait, what ?? Where's the rendevous ?? I didn't catch that" Lennox tried to keep up.
"Copy that Vale" You said as you ran, But got shot in the calf by the rival crew from a blindspot, Star child rushed in to cover you, His skin turning into bulletproof diamond. "You are wounded"
"I'm fine, They only got one of my legs"
"Haymar, How are those hands ??" Lennox called out.
Haymar soon charged up her fire attack and tossed it out, Creating a line of flame to deter them.
You continued to chase after them leading to some unfinished construction, It was about to get more intense more quickly.
"Y/n !!" Haymar called to you as she saw the rival crew about to leave with the blue buddy.
"Got it" You pulled out one of your pistols and shot the rival in the hand, making them drop the blue buddy, You swore you could hear it cursing its chip off.
"1-0ff this is you" She said as he began to activate his industrial vacuum gun, sucking up the blue buddy away from the rival crew and back into your hands.
"I am developing a taste for destruction" He said before tossing a trash bomb. "Goodbye"
But as the bomb blew up, The scaffolding began to collapse, knocking everyone off, You were all hanging off of each other's ankles, Shit shit shit...
"This would be a very dishonorable way for us to die" Star child tried to get you all back up.
"Don't worry, Nobody's dying dishonourably" Lennox tried to calm everyone down "Also, we're bringing this back with us" He held up the blue buddy.
Your hand was beginning to slip from Haymar's boot, You couldn't hang on much longer.
"Y/n... What are you doing ??" Lennox grew worried.
Your face was full of hesitation, But right now you had little to no choice. "Getting us to the rendezvous point" You closed your eyes tightly and let go.
Both of you falling down and disappearing into the clouds below. the only thing you could hear was Lennox's screaming and the wind.
"Huh, Perhaps we should've let go also" 1-0ff casually spoke up
"1-0ff No !!" Haymar said
"Do not dare !!" as did star child
"We were supposed to stick together" 1-0ff tried to calm him down.
"If you let go, I swear I will rain vengeance upon"
"Oh look there they are, Hi !!"
You both reemerged from the clouds, Standing on the roof of the ship which Vale was flying, The rendezvous point.
"What the ?? How ?? I am glad you avoided a dishonorable death" Star child sighed in relief.
"Almost dying is the best way to learn how not to die... or something ??' You turned to Lennox.
"I knew this was gonna work" He smirked
"This wasn't the plan" You raised an eyebrow.
"It just wasn't the one we started with"
Soon you all made it back to the Northstar, Dropping the blu buddy off to the client. The client then paid the crew handsomely.
"Alright, Another satisfied customer, Goods delivered, I sent everyone there cut" He put his tablet down as Haymar approached him, with something behind her back.
"So do you, like carry it around with you for emergency bland situations or whatever ??" She smirked.
"Haymar... Don't joke about something like this" He knew this too well, She pulled from behind her back a new bottle of hot sauce.
He tried to grab it but pulled it away from his grasp.
"Our next job is somewhere with less scaffolding" She said firmly.
"No scaffolding, zero scaffolding. I promise"
She handed it to him, It was like someone was reunited with their long-lost love.
"We were apart for so long I thought I'd never feel your fiery embrace again"
You chuckled as the ship hit hyperjump, watching as the galaxies went by before Lennox perked up.
"Oh shoot that's right, Y/n what's your details ??" He picked up his tablet again.
"My details ??" You looked at him.
"Well a fellow freegunner needs there cut as well" He smirked.
Your eyes went wide like saucers, was he serious, was it true ?? Please get someone to pinch you, This was happening.
"Welcome to the crew y/n" Haymar smiled.
"Thank you... Thank you so much !!" You smiled wide.
Your dream came true, You didn't hold back from the doubts and the what-ifs, and it has paid off big time, you were now a freegunner. Your life would instantly get more exciting.
"Now y/n, The crew will gather a bit later, Would you like to join us for a game night ??" 1-0ff said excitedly. Yeah... so much more exciting.
A/N: I may be the first ever in the potential concord fandom to write this, But I hope everyone enjoyed it.
