BACKSTORY WEEKS - DECEMBER SPECIAL
There’ll be a short special edition of the backstory weeks, themed according to the holiday season.
Four prompts - three new, one old, no individual deadline or fixed, but I’ll reblog what I found in the past week on each weekend until Jan 3rd. (I suggest a weekly rhythm, but you know, I’m terrible at meeting deadlines myself…)
How does it work? Use a character from one of your WIPs (planned or in progress, or even finished); they can change for each prompt. Write a scene set before the main story, that has or had significant impact on who they are today, or that just showcases an important part of their past. Use the prompt to get inspired to write a short scene and see where you end up. And have fun.
What matters? Be creative and support others! Check out their characters and scenes, find what you like, share, comment and make new friends!
What to do to be reblogged? Finish before January 3rd and let me know you did it. Tag me, send it to me directly or tag with #yobholiday or #yourocsbackstory. If it’s more than 500 words, please use a cut. Edits are welcome but not at all necessary. Please add content warnings before a cut if applicable. Feel free to write nsfw entries, but I will not share them.
And here they are - this event’s prompts…. *drumroll*….
What is your characters home? A place, a person, a smell, a memory? Do they still have it, or is it lost? Happy or painful? How does it feel to return?
Are there special holidays in your character’s culture? Memories or traditions attached to them? How would these usually be celebrated? Is there any day in particular that they remember? Why?
What is the most important gift your character ever received? Who gave it to them? Is it actually physical or tangible? What was the occasion? Does it still hold meaning?
Is there any year in your character’s past that they were particularly excited about - happy that it started, sad that it ended, or the other way around? How would they feel about the passing of years anyway? Would they measure it by calendar years, by years of their life, by something else entirely? What were their hopes for the future when they were younger?
