ancient romans were always dying in hamsterlike ways to be honest
the emotion i just experienced is kind of indescribable
the funniest part of this post to me is that the reblog:like ratio is nearly 1:1. nobody’s just liking everyone who sees this video goes yeah i gotta inflict it on as many people as possible
in this dark age of censorship, remember that if ovid managed to stay a pervert during the moralising tyranny of the augustan age, you can do the same now. don't worry about what happened to him next
#even cicero undoubtedly stared blankly at the wall of his villa and went 'what a stupid time to be alive'#don't worry about what happened to him next

You get transported into the universe of the last media you consumed. How are you doing?
This is better than my real life
I'm doing well
I'm doing fine
I'm not having a good time
I'm absolutely cooked
There is nothing different about this universe and my own
Happy Weiss Day!

marcus junius pera told me the carthaginians keep defeating the roman army so i asked how many soldiers he has and he said he just goes to the general population of rome and conscripts new soldiers afterwards so i said it sounds like he's just feeding roman soldiers to hannibal and then gaius terentius varro started crying
To this day I still don't believe that anyone actually thought you could generate infinite chocolate via an optical illusion. That's a thing people tell themselves to feel superior
The defining feature of tumblr is not "the website where people actually think infinite chocolate is possible", it is defined by a group of people refusing to break kayfabe, another group being genuinely confused by an optical illusion (NOT the same thing as thinking infinite chocolate is possible) and a third group who is certain they are a lot smarter than the other two.
An experiment in language change
Nifty little language game here.
I can read back to 1500 with basically no difficulty
at 1400 I have to read slowly and carefully, but I can understand all of it save a couple words
at 1300 I can still comprehend most of it if I read slowly, but a much larger percentage of the words are unfamiliar to me, even with context
1200 and earlier are almost totally unintelligible
finished outer wilds recently so i'm making some stickers for c2e2

A Penny for your thoughts.
Quick! The first OC you think of is dropped in the world of the last movie/show you watched. How are they faring?
did your parents *"pre-screen" the media you interacted with when you were a kid/before legal adult age where you are?
yes, always AND they did parental guidance talks about it
yes, always but there was no parental guidance involved
sometimes, with parental guidance talks
sometimes, no parental guidance talks
not usually, but occasionally (WITH parental guidance)
not usually, but occasionally (WITHOUT parental guidance)
they never pre-screened but there were other rules (elaborate?)
my parents fully didn't give a shit about what media i engaged with
see results
*by "pre-screening", i typically mean any sort of behavior that exists on a spectrum of "actually watching/playing/reading the thing before you played it" to "doing any sort of research on it before letting you watch it".
feel free to share your experiences in the tags or replies or whatever!
admittedly, i am a little obsessed with like 65% of the tags on this post so far basically saying "my parents didn't pre-screen things but they [describes behavior that DEFINITELY qualifies as pre-screening]". i kinda hope maybe this post and others like it wake some people up to the fact that yes, even YOUR parents were controlling what perspectives and ideas you were and were not being allowed to access.
