ok so hi I'm jollybirdtheorist! I sometimes like to create fanart and short fanfics in the Ninjago fandom I mostly do that on my more tame and slightly social blog called @jollybirdtheorist-new-art-blog

On this messy/crazy and unorganized blog I mostly just comment on my favorite posts,but mostly reblog my favorite things online and share my random unpopular and "stupid" opinions and stuff. I'm not very fond of this blog but I keep it because here I save the posts I like.

My first blog was originally owlkinsblog but unfortunately it got hacked and terminated :(.

On my old blog I enjoyed chatting with with my mutuals and posting my headcannons every once in a while !

Also I've noticed how some of my reblogs have had some rather negative responses to them (don't worry I didn't do something bad, it's mostly because I have unpopular opinions and unpopular headcannons, I also suck at making jokes or reading social Ques)

and this is what I've got to say about it *inhale* if you do not like what I've said or reblogged then you can scroll past the post and ignore it. I do not target or mean to offend anyone or the way they view a character, I do NOT care if you think my ideas are cringe or if I'm stupid, I simply enjoy sharing my ideas and perspectives on certain things so if you're not going to be nice because you don't like what I post then you can leave and go to some other blog where it has posts you like.

However I do not mind constructive criticism and if you have tips on how to get better at what I do, like fanart tips or art tips then the advice will either be well received or politely turned down.

The posts I do on this blog are for my enjoyment and I do not mind if others see what I post. Also yeah I'm CRINGE, and I don't really care

BUT I do acknowledge that I was a dumbass when I was younger and I die from cringe rereading some old stuff. Please look the other way (I can't really delete the blog cause if I delete this one the other blog I made could also get deleted with it and I ain't risking that.)

I ended up using a lot of blacks and blues, I dunno why but those colors feel most familiar.

I don't know if this is another thing unique to my weird-ass but does anyone else feel the need or disappear and wander off somewhere far away that's nice and no one can find you?

Or climb up somewhere really high to feel what if would be like to see a tiny world at your feet?

I guess I picked a lot of dreamy, wandering vibes with a little hint of "fvxk the rude people I know in person vibes" because I'm kind of tired of being stuck in an environment full of people I don't like and annoying rude family members who don't let me enjoy child-like wonder or anything because I'm apparently stupid and cringe for liking fantasy things and having niche interests.

I want to runaway to a nicer world sometimes but that doesn't exist,heaven is outta reach(plus I don't wanna have a family reunion in hell if I Isekai myself).

I'm double jointed, I used to scare teachers and friends when I was a kid by making my hand or elbow bones crack really loudly when I pushed them out of place since they move backwards at a 45-ish degree angle.

It was fun, I could also crack my neck a lil outta place and pop my shoulder bones too which was perfect for playing dead (but that probably stopped being funny after a while, eh I was a weird kid)

Excerpt from my verity/mob fic :)

“You’re so stubborn, Mob. Let me take care of it for you.”

That damn tone of voice again. Too sweet and caring, yet somehow implying that Mob was in the wrong for refusing help.

“I don’t want you to take care of it. I’ll go to the village tomorrow to get it healed.” Mob grumbled, already securing the sticks against his shin and ankle. He began wrapping it all in tight cloth to keep his joint still.

Verity watched as Mob wrapped the splint with frayed focus, his hands clammy and trembling. He watched with those glowing yellow eyes as the fabric slipped from Mob’s fingers once.. twice.

Mob yelped as tendrils of black mist suddenly clamped around his jaw. They squeezed tight, enough to muffle any protest as Mob tried to wrestle away.

As Verity’s shadowed form slowly rose to half-height, those void yellow eyes stared right down through Mob with an intensity that bordered on cosmic.

Mob tried to kick himself backwards on his shattered ankle, only to cry out as the joint twisted and jostled.

“You’re being unreasonable,” That familiar voice was lower now, smoother in a way that made Mob’s stomach turn with fear.

“Your ankle is shattered in three places,” Verity continued. As if to strengthen his point, he gave Mob’s half-splinted foot a light flick with two shadowy fingers. Just that little bend of pressure made Mob clench his fists in agony.

“Ver- you-! Get off of me!” Mob protested, his voice muffled by his squished cheeks.

One of those fists flew up to grip the shadowy hand still clamped around his jaw, but Verity continued.

“Even on crutches, you’ll pass out before you make it to the nearest village.” There was no more happy lilt to Verity’s voice- no fake concern- just cold facts.

“I don’t care!” Mob growled, raw and feral like an animal trapped. His chest heaved with quick, shallow breaths— a pitiful comparison to Verity’s cold, still form. He thrashed, writhed, twisted– and when none of it worked, his free fist flew upwards towards that misty figure’s face.

When his fist phased right through the blackness, Mob nearly turned over from the wasted momentum. His crazed green eyes flickered up to Verity’s void yellow ones, and Mob’s stomach clenched as he watched that smoky yellow smile twitch at the edges.

There was one moment of stillness, broken only by Mob’s frantic breathing.

The next moment, Mob’s back slammed against the oak floor with a sharp thud as he was dragged away from the wall by the shin of his injured leg.

He cried out, his torso instinctively twisting while his fingers dug desperately into the flooring. Wood splintered under his nail beds as he tried to anchor himself against the sudden force.

“NO! Verity! Wh- STOP!” his voice broke as he yelled out. The creature’s body burned like black fire, and its yellow eyes were dilated into glowing pinpricks. Its arm, eerily human-shaped, wrapped tightly around the back of Mob’s knee as it dragged him with single-minded focus.

Mob kicked and swatted uselessly at Verity’s towering form while he frantically patted at his waist for his sword. His damn sword. He’d dropped the extra weight before crawling back inside. His stomach clenched tight as every small movement grinded his broken bones against the flesh of his ankle.

“VERITY! Get OFF! I didn’t-“ His protests melted into a series of tight, pained groans as he was dragged through the front door. The door nearly swung closed against his head, but he managed to twist his shoulders away in time. The morning sun lit the foggy ground while the bubbling lava pit shone like fire from under the trapdoors.

Verity dragged Mob right in front of it, then let his injured leg fall to the ground, discarding him completely. Mob barely managed to slow the fall and keep his ankle from crashing against the grass. Still, the movement sent a wave of pain like hot iron slamming into his leg. He sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth to choke back a gag.

His vision swam as he tried to focus on the shadowed figure stepping toward the lava trap. He watched as Verity began to open the trapdoors one by one.

No.

“No no no no- Verity, what are you-? Why are- oh my god,” his voice trembled as he frantically searched for any possible escape route. He couldn’t go around the house. The wall would block him in. He couldn’t get to the gate- he would have to drag himself over the trap to do that.

Inside.

He frantically scrambled backwards on his elbow and his good leg, already feeling the heat of the lava intensify in the air with the open doors.

“No, no, no- what the hell-?” he whispered shakily under his breath as he reached for the doorknob. Adrenaline kept him moving quickly as he scooted himself back through the door.

His eyes stayed glued on Verity as he stood to his full height and turned slowly to look at Mob. That glowing smile was misshapen now.

Mob’s breath hitched into quick, fearful huffs as he watched the towering form step closer to him. He managed to close the door and lock the deadbolt just before a hard fist pounded against the door.

Servants: What do they talk about downstairs?

Often I get asked about what matters certain ranks of society speak about when they are alone, such as what topics they talk about, what would be taboo and what sort of things they would feel comfortable speaking about.

Topics

Downstairs conversation usually revolved around whatever kept the household running smoothly, so most talk was practical, harmless, and rooted in day to day life or life outside of work. Servants would often have swapped tales about work, talking amongst themselves on matters of staff such as conduct or reputation or skillset, not too different from working in any workplace. Servants would have discussed personal matters, such as who was courting who, who was flaunting the riles and who might have fallen short of the expectations of the house. They would have also traded local town gossip, local scandals for example.

Taboo

Some subjects were absolutely off‑limits. Some topics could lead to a servant punished or dismissed. One never criticized the lord, lady, or their children. Even the mildest comments could be seen as disrespectful. Servants also avoided repeating anything they overheard upstairs, arguments, affairs, illnesses, debts etc. Sharing private family matters was considered a betrayal of trust and could destroy a household’s reputation. Loose lips sink ships and all that. Politics was often barred too, servants were expected to stay neutral and silent and not get into debates about things 'above their stations'. Mocking any guests to the house or discussing sensitive topics like inheritance, legitimacy, or money was equally forbidden. Everyone downstairs understood that their job depended on discretion, and some secrets were so dangerous that even whispering them could cost a life.

Censorship

The tone of downstairs life was shaped by a strict hierarchy. The steward or housekeeper controlled what was appropriate or not. If they said something was never to be addressed, it wouldn't be. Senior servants like the butler, cook, or head maid also had authority to shut down gossip or scold juniors for speaking out of turn. Their approval or disapproval shaped what was acceptable which was often shaped by the morals and leanings of the family they served. It is important to remember that even when the family weren’t present, they dictated the atmosphere.

Confidants

Servants of course, did speak about taboo subjects but they had to be very strategic about who they talked to and what they talked about, because the wrong word to the wrong person could ruin them and see them fired. Safe conversations happened with peers, for example the scullery maids, footmen, grooms, and kitchen hands who shared the same workload and had no authority to punish them would talk about more sensitive topics, may share complaints about unfair treatment. But trust was essential. Senior staff like the butler, housekeeper, or steward were treated with caution, wise servants would avoid complaining, gossiping, or mentioning anything that hinted at discontent in front of them. Around the family, servants spoke only when spoken to and stuck to practical answers, never offered opinions, never gossiped, never spoke on personal matters. Downstairs life ran on an unspoken rule: you could speak freely only with those who had nothing to gain by repeating your words.

okay so i haven't finished fire and ash yet and might have to come back to this but so far i'm getting the sense that like the thing with kiri and eywa is that eywa actually has the "opposite" problem you would intuitively expect from a powerful godlike entity. she's actually Too Strong in the sense that her scope is Too Broad. which makes sense if you remember that physically speaking, she literally is one gigantic organism. there are a variety of instances where she just Can't Be Precise Enough. like if something gets parasites, it can't always just meticulously pick out every little parasite with surgical precision. at a certain point it kinda has to be an all or nothing thing that may or may not work and may or may not have Serious Unforeseen Consequences, kind of like when you get a fever. like yeah. the pathogen is gonna die (probably) but. BUT. Good Luck Everybody Else lol. so eywa was like "worry naut. i have.
