and it Shakes Me that she’s the protagonist of the story. she’s the center of orphan black – the heart and soul and narrative nexus of orphan black. in any other story she’d be the fringes, the sneering punk you can’t trust. but no. she’s brave, sure, and she’s strong, but also she’s terrified and blowing off her responsibilities to get drunk and have a three-way and she’s rolling up to a tense trade-off wearing four-day-old eyeliner and a crop top and a raggedy leather jacket and she’s: good. we love her and she’s good. every antagonist of orphan black thinks that she’s useless, worthless, something to pointedly look past on the street, but she’s good. i love her. she’s good.
