Is there a way to filter out fics you've already read? Or at least already read in that computer? I have a very specific way to filter fics that works very well for me, but that also means that on fandoms where I have been reading for a whle, I have to wade throgh pages and pages where I've read almost every fic already... It makes finding new ones pretty cumbersome.
Thank you for all your help!!
I'm not aware of a way to filter them, but you can add an indicator that you've already read/seen a work by using a userscript.
Userscripts are a kind of extension for your brower. Desktop browsers all allow them, but on mobile devices Firefox is the only browser I know that lets you apply them. (If anyone knows of other mobile browsers that allow userscripts, please share in the notes!)
There are two possibilities that I can suggest, and perhaps there are more out there that I haven't heard of.
1. Kudos and Seen History - this was coded by Min, the same person who created the Google Docs script that automatically adds the html formatting for you.
1a. C89sd coded an addition/replacement for that userscript called KHX that also has a light and dark toggle to work with site skins that are either light or dark mode.
2. AO3 Browsing Notes is another possible option. This userscript lets you save notes on works that you can see while you're browsing or searching. Your notes show up underneath the summary box, so they're easy to see and connect to the fic.
Unfortunately, none of those options remove the works from your browsing list. But perhaps someone has a suggestion for something that will?
I don't know any way to automatically remove works you've already read, but I would suggest making a site skin dedicated to hiding works you've already read. (I say make it its own instead of lumping it together with other skins, that way you can easily turn it off if you want to visit a specific fic.)
So you would copy the number at the end of the work's URL, then replace [Work ID] in the following code with it:
.work-[Work ID] {
display: none !important;
}
And then you could write //Work Name and Author// above or below the text in the CSS box so you could know which is which.
And then you could make it Parent Only using the advanced options and add it as a parent onto whatever other skins you're using.
Automatically hiding any you've read would also hide wips where you've read some but there are new chapters.
The default search sorts by date last posted. When I'm first binging a new fandom/tag, I'll go deep into a search, saving where I am between looks. Once I'm more caught up or not binging, I'll just look at the more currently updated fics.
The scripts to more easily mark ones you've opened could be helpful.
I'm a student, I have a commute. I only had a lecture this morning, so normally I would have went home in train.
Problem, my stop is a small one so if I don't want to be stuck at the station for 3 hours I CANNOT MISS MY TRAIN.
First one of the tramway lines I have to take to go from my uni to the station got cut because some brainless truck driver managed to get stuck ON the tracks ! So I had to speed walk for 30 minutes to get to get my other tramway. And since I'm dressed rather warmly, it was fucking miserable, especially since I decided it would be nice to have a big purse instead of a backpack.
So my shoulder didn't really appreciate the speed walk.
I arrive at the station with 10 minutes to spare. GREAT ! I CAN JUST GET ON MY TRAIN AND RELAX ! RIGHT ? Especially since I took the time TWICE to check on the annoncement screen it was the right train
I get on my train, get the mediocre sandwich I got at uni to eat out of my bag during the ride and put my earphones in. Like I always do.
Then after some time I notice the train doesn't leave at the usual hour. So I take out my earphones and hear the annoncement that the train I'm in was rerouted. Like changed destination. And it was a last warning for the people that did not pay attention to get off if they did not want to end up somewhere they do not want to be.
Other fun fact, at this hour there is almost no one on this train. Like 2-3 passengers by car at best. So if you are not paying attention, you do not see people leaving.
SO I START GETTING MY SHIT QUICKLY TO GET OUT BEFORE I GET STUCK ON THE WRONG TRAIN. And proceed to book it toward the correct track.
I did not get my train, it was already gone.
So now I'm fucking stuck to wait 3 hours instead of getting home early
Also I checked to see if I could go back to my university to study in the library since I was stuck anyways. But according to the alert application I have for the tramway, the truck had already been there for almost 3 hours when I got on the tramway, and it's still blocked as I'm writing this so that situation is probably not getting resolved any time soon.

Copyright class actions could financially ruin AI industry, trade groups say.
Further, some authors may never even find out the lawsuit is happening. The court's suggested notification scheme "would require class claimants to themselves notify other potential rightsholders," groups said, overlooking the fact that it cost Google $34.5 million "to set up a 'Books Rights Registry' to identify owners for payouts under the proposed settlement" in one of the largest cases involving book authors prior to the AI avalanche of lawsuits.
If you're an author, please use this database to see if you could qualify for that sweet GenAI lawsuit money.
Millions of books and scientific papers are captured in the collection’s current iteration.
I have never ever ever in my life asked someone to blaze my posts.
But if you want to throw me some pennies blaze this. I want ALL OF THE AUTHORS to know that they have the opportunities to get some sweet sweet GenAI lawsuit money.
Like to charge. Reblog to cast that Anthropic will have to pay out the ass.

Resist!Durge becoming the god/goddess of redemption
I find it so fitting for a Durge narrative, since they are a product of the divine themselves.
From what I got from posts (Because I havent even finished Act One of my first playthough but I can't stop watching spoilers), Gale god ending isnt really his best.
But the idea of a Durge becoming a god as a way to free themselves completly from their Father ?
That's an idea I love, and there is always angsty possibilities
For the past Few Years I've been building a list of Jacob Geller videos that represent the fifteen Fears in The Magnus Archives.
Today he released a video that finally completed my list.
Here's the list, in the order of the fears on the TMA wiki (most of which have links. Some of the videos are age restricted, so I can't post working links here).
THE BURIED: Fear of Depths
While this concept may at first seem more aligned with The Vast, the video surrounds a motif of needing to go Deeper. Of a cave or darkness surrounding you completely, burying you. It also follows a few stories of people getting stuck in caves.
(List continued under break)
THE CORRUPTION: Gross Games About Flesh And Stuff
"But Orthus!" you cry. "The word flesh is literally in the name!" You would be right! But one of the games this video heavily features (Perfect Vermin) is about cancer, and the slow painful progression of it! It's arguable if How Fish Is Made is corruption aligned fully, but since it features a tongue eating louse, I'm saying it counts too.
THE DARK: Fear of Dark
As of writing this, Fear of Dark was released four hours ago, completing this list. I was so stumped on this one until literally twenty minutes ago. Thank you, Mr Geller. This one is self explanatory I think. Yes, I haven't finished watching it. I don't care. I know it's a banger already.
THE DESOLATION: Returnal is a Hell of Our Own Creation
Yes, this video isn't about fire. But The Desolation isn't just fire. It's about pain, it's about loss, it's about cruel destruction. And Returnal is about the horrible cycle of grief after catastrophic loss. To me, it fits.
THE END: Fear of Cold
Usually the "fear of" videos on this list are pretty straightforwards but I feel like this requires some explanation. This video is about cold, but it's also about dying from cold and the lengths that people will go to, however painful, to avoid death. Lots of Geller videos are about mortality. This one hits extra hard though.
THE EYE: Control, Anatomy, and the Legacy of the Haunted House
Houses can't watch someone, but Oh Boy do the games in this video make it feel like they can! There's something so fitting about this idea for The Eye. No matter where you are in a house, you're always in its walls. If it's perceiving you, there's nowhere to escape that. Banger video. Also banger games.
THE FLESH: Head Transplants and the Non-Existence of the Soul
This one is a bit more of a stretch, I'll admit. But here's my defence: it deals with the separation of the body and the soul, the treatment of the body as just a vessel for our minds. Vivisection is absolutely something aligned with The Flesh. So I think this one fits here. The video is age restricted and so I can't put it here. There's a content warning in it that I very much recommend heeding.
THE HUNT: The Decade-Long Quest for Shadow of the Colossus’ Last Secret
Another one that was a bit of a challenge for me to figure out. I do think the essence is here, but it's definitely not fear based. I think it's more the desperation, the blind belief in the hunt itself to the point where it becomes about the process, not the end goal. Spaces online around theories like this often get pretty toxic, and this is no exception. Naysayers are ridiculed and shunned, etc etc. So I think this fits. It's also just a fun video.
THE LONELY: Gaming’s Harshest Architecture: NaissancE and Alienation/ Cities Without People/ Artificial Loneliness
You get three videos for this one! Hopefully that makes up for the head transplant video link not working.
Cities Without People and Artificial Loneliness have sort of the same vibe going in terms of Why They're Lonely. Gaming's Harshest Architecture is my favourite for this entry though. God I love hostile landscapes. I love places that weren't built for people. Just the forced alienation of those games is PERFECTION. I love all of these videos.
Tumblr only lets me post ten videos per post. If you reblog this without the continuation I'll be sad.
A gothic horror story where a gentleman from a good family gets haunted by something monstrous, which follows him around and keeps killing people around him at utter random, in cruel and horrifying ways. Specifically within circumstances where the protagonist has no alibi, and everything indicates that he committed the murders.
But the real horror is not that he would find himself accused of the murders, but that the people around him naturally assume that he did do it, but genuinely do not care, because the victims are never people that the society around him considers "important". The scullery maid of his household is found brutalised beyond recognition in a room where even the ceiling has been splattered with blood, and a constable of the local police brushes it off as a case of household discipline gone wrong, being horrifyingly casual with the assumption that the protagonist severely beat a girl in his service to death, and will dismiss it as an accident. The street urchin that the protagonist was seen talking with - wanting to help this poor little orphan - is found decapitated, severed head in the protagonist's fireplace. This, too, is calmly swept under the rug.
After every horrifying murder, the protagonist tries to seek help, to present the crime to authorities in hopes of getting some semblance of help, or at least clearing his own name of this, but every time it's brushed off. "These things do happen", he is reassured, like it's perfectly normal that a mansion of that size has a secret garden of unmarked graves in one shady corner.
The real horror is the ever-encompassing implication that this is perfectly normal.
Okay I’ve seen a few people correctly point out now that the Question and Response from the Case this episode was the other half of the man’s brain, as that was mentioned in the case beforehand and would explain the fate that befell him, however I don’t think that necessarily takes away from the theories regarding the JMJ trio, rather it adds to them, and also adds to a consistent theme in this universe.
We’ve had a few cases now about doubles, with just last episode being an example. This idea of balance and duality seems increasingly important to whatever the bigger picture is here, especially regarding the Magnus Institute’s experiments. Then, of course, we have Celia, who comments that her situation isn’t quite like the situation of Darien, which begs the question what is her situation. We know she’s from the original MAG universe, but how did she end up here, and is it all related to this idea of duality. I mean, where is this universe’s Celia? I’m also wondering if the ‘Some of Him’ case also applies to this idea of being divided.
I think it also works neatly into the theory that the JMJ trio are a case of this split consciousness, with their minds in the computer system, and something else lingering elsewhere — potentially ERROR as I’ve seen some suggest, but I’ll wait until we get more evidence for that one.
I also think it doesn’t change the fact the case was still clearly a response to Alice’s prior question of who’s in there, even if not directly about them. Augustus’ voice was far too desperate when reciting the responses, uncomfortably so.
So while the case wasn’t about them, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t align with what they’re experiencing. We know this is how they communicate.
It also again has some terrifying implications about this world, and it’s becoming more clear that we really have no idea what’s going on, for as much as we think we know.
About the whole Celia double situation, I think she doesn't "exist" technicaly
Because the name Celia is a name she chose herself during the apocalypse after being Stranger'ed. The actual double would then be Lynne Hammond (aka the name she gave in episode 100)
I think Celia has a more precarious connection then Darien, because she, unlike him, does not have any connections to her double anymore. She litteraly lost any previous sense of self, becoming a brand new person in a new environement in TMA during the apocalypse.
Her sleepwalking would be a way for the universe to try and balance things by trying to making her meet this universe Lynne so there could be a repeat of the Darien situation (where one of the doubles kill the other), or simply kill her.
But due to the fact that "TMAGP Celia" doesn't have a reason to exist since Celia was created due to the apocalypse in TMA, and TMA Lynne was "destroyed" by the Stranger, whatever is trying to maintain the balance is confused.
The Celia from the OIAR has the body of Lynne but not her spirit. So that balance could try to eliminate the body but it couldn't influence the mind since it is technicaly is unique in TMAGP world (which would explain the sleepwalking).
Her situation being unique, and could perhaps be the reason Celia and this universe Lynne might be able to coexist in the same universe. Even with the occasional tentative of the balance to eliminate this 'error'.
I hope we might see this universe Lynne in the future or at least a mention of her.
