It's very easy to forget that fandoms exist outside of social media. We get wrapped up tight in the utter chaos that happens online, allowing it to affect and ensnare us far too much. It causes us to forget that these stories we're all passionate about carry far beyond the bubbles we've attempted trapping them into. And that there are so many who love these stories, without knowledge or care about the drama that can be entangled with it all.

The other day I was out searching if any local stores had TADC merchandise; my area's been lucky and getting quite a bit, so friends of mine asked me to keep an eye out. There were only a handful of plush left, one of them being Jax. I'd picked it up for a bit, when I noticed a teen kiddo shyly coming up to the TADC merch. They were quiet and very sweet, looking at my Jax and back at the empty displays. It was obvious who their favorite was, and I held the plush right out to them--

Seeing how much they lit up and hugged that Jax reminded me how often fandoms forget what's important. We can argue and dissect these characters all day, tear each other apart about episodes and plots and endings. But what matters is the emotional impact that's made, and how stories can mean so much to so many.

I keep thinking about that sweet kid, hugging their Jax tight, thanking me because he meant a lot to them. Their mom happily telling me that they don't have social media and knew nothing of leaks and were excited for the finale. That to them, it was just another show that they truly enjoyed, not something to be torn apart. Reminding me that no matter what the end brings, these stories will always have meaning.

There is joy to be found in TADC. I think a lot of us have forgotten that.

The biological reality is that sex is also a social construct. Male & female, penis & clitoris, vagina & perineum, these can help with explanation, but are at the end of the day all social constructs, they are not reality, they are a way of simplifying down reality for effective communication.

This is especially important to note for intersex people, but it is, beyond that, definitionally true of all definitions of maleness & femaleness.

You cannot make a definition of biologically male that includes all males & excludes all non males

You cannot make a definition of biologically female that includes all females & excludes all non females

Making a third intersex category does not fix this. it is more that by describing humans as a species with male & female sex you might be correct in the sense that it describes a common notable trait in humans that can help with discussion, but that is all.

Pre/non op trans men can just as correctly & accurately describe themselves as biologically male as a cis man, genderfluid people can describe their genitals as a penis or clit interchangably & it is not actually confusing or scientifically impossible. trans women don't need surgery to describe her clit as a clit in science & medicine.

these categories ultimately only serve to communicate a concept that cannot ever be fully measured & defined to a perfect scientific ideal, only measured & defined to an extent that allows comunication of ideas.

since the last ep of tadc is coming out soon, i kinda wanna, not make a prediction per se, especially since it's fucking impossible to predict anything in this fucking show, but a hope for it?

I don't want jax to abstract if that means him dying obviously, but i think he is at a breaking point, & i think this could be a perfect way to explore something i kind of hope TADC ends up exploring.

the characters kind of treat abstraction like death, metaphorical suicide, or them leaving, but i think this is just because they haven't found a way to cope with the concept yet

i think abstraction could be something else, it's own thing, a person literally abstracting themselves, getting to a point of mental break down where you can't really be present or rational right now, & because of them being in a game where their avatars represent them, that means they take on a new & abstract form.

& right now, the characters clearly don't know how to deal with that, but jax clearly is not okay right now, & it feels like he is constantly on the edge of abstracting, & i kind of really in my heart, as someone who has a lot of big mental illness stuff & sometimes just needs to retreat or lash out, want him to be able to give in to that & for it to be okay. for them to all learn that it can be okay, that abstraction isn't death, it's a state of being, & they can accept him like that.

just saw some dumb shit on youtube shorts abt some fukin white lady teacher talking abt how schools need 2 b harsher on students and literally everything she suggested would've been especially bad 4 neurodivergent students

teachers r not entitled 2 students paying attention in class when going 2 class is mandatory and i think neurodivergent students (of all neurodivergencies not just autism and adhd) should b allowed 2 hunt teachers 4 sport

school was genuinely 1 of the most trumatic events in my life and thats coming from some1 who was raised in an actual fucking cult where i got sexually harassed by my bio dad every night, school was legitimately more upsetting 4 me most of the time and also was used by my bio family as a way of worsening the abuse at home

realistically if u actually want 2 make school better u hav 2 options:

- make school optional meaning that at literally any age a student can just choose 2 drop out of school w no notice and just leave and go home and never go back 2 school again

- make it okay 4 students 2 not care abt school and not try in school instead of punishing them 4 not trying

ideally it would b both but the lvl of entitlement teachers feel over a student being interested in their class when the student is being legally forced 2 b there is so fucking tone deaf that it makes me wanna punch a teacher with the rage of a thousand suns

school will never b less traumatising 2 neurodivergent students until we stop treating teachers like the victims and instead acknowledge teachers as an oppressive arm of the government, thats without even mentioning the ways in which teachers will sometimes racially profile students and decide that black students r at fault 4 things they never get the white students in trouble 4 which is also a major fucking problem

tl;dr

teachers r not victims they r an oppressive class and just as at fault in society as any cop and minority students should b allowed 2 hunt teachers 4 sport until education in school stops being mandatory
