Do other countries not tailgate? I mean I know pickup trucks aren't a thing everywhere, but they're not a necessity, even if you'd think you need a tailgate to actually tailgate. Ya don't. Just brews and brats and buds.
Off the back of a quick search: The Foxborough stadium there and the largest stadium in Scotland, Celtic Park, have about the same seating capacity, about 65,000.
The Foxborough stadium normally has 20,000 parking spaces.
Celtic Park has 800, with another 600 nearby.
You might not need tailgates, but you do need to be parking there.
I forgot, somehow, how much of America is paved (and mostly empty most of the time), especially near stadiums. Thanks for doing the research!
I hate the uk government for making me agree with Elon musk
The recent hot VS cold polls have made me realise that a lot of people have no idea how to cool down.
As someone from a hot country that's regularly on fire, here's some tips:
WATER IS YOUR FRIEND! WATER! IS! YOUR! FRIEND! You can transfer SO much heat into this bad boy! You cannot cool down without water!
Wrists under the cold tap. Splash your face and the back of your neck. Fan yourself.
In some countries you can buy a little handeld fan with a water sprayer.
Damp tea towel around the neck. Stick an ice pack in there on hotter days.
Half fill a water bottle with water, stick in freezer. If you use a bottle with a straw, make sure it's lying on its side with the straw side up and out of the water. When frozen top up the rest of the way with tap water and off you go.
Desperate to cool off? Wet T-shirt. Sit in front of a fan. This will nuke it, just don't get hypothermia and don't fall asleep like this.
Cold showers are also your friend in summer. Some people get psyched up by these. Personally, I sleep like a baby, so I'm good to have them before bed. Just keep in mind that it takes a bit of time for the cool to circulate, so your body will tell you that you're colder than you actually are. I find that when I have cold showers I need to step out of the spray when I think I'm cold... I'll just wait, and thirty seconds later the temperature has evened out and I actually need to step under again. Rinse and repeat until you maintain coolness even after stepping out for a bit.
If you can't do cold showers, turn the cold shower on anyway and just stick your arms under. When they're cold, lift your arms up above your head. The sensation of cool blood draining into your body is fucking weird and kinda unpleasant but less unpleasant than being hot.
Feet in a tub of water with ice. Blood naturally flows to your extremities when hot, so take advantage of this. If you don't have a tub of ice water, sticking a wet rag on your feet in front of the fan works too, it's the less powerful version of the wet T-shirt.
Drinks lots of water but make sure that water has electrolytes as well. Stay in the shade.
Keep air circulating. Fans don't actually cool rooms down, they just help transfer heat from your body to the moisture on your skin or the air via evaporative cooling.
Block north facing windows early in the morning so the sun doesn't get in. If you're in the northern hemisphere, this is opposite for you. Keep in mind that if your home is brick, the bricks will still heat up and slowly release heat into your home even after the sun goes down so this will only do so much.
If it's hotter inside than outside, close all your windows but two, making sure they're on opposite sides of the house/unit you're in. Point a fan out of one window, making sure that the doors between the rooms with the open windows are all open. This will help create a mini pressure system in your home, pulling cooler air in and pushing the hotter air out via the fan. Bonus points if you can get that fan high up where the hot air rises; even within a single room the top is much hotter than the air by the floor. Adjust the amount of open windows based on how many fans you have, but generally you want more windows with fans open than windows without fans to keep the pressure correct.
Obviously, use your common sense for these. Not everything WILL work for you, just use the stuff that does and adjust what needs to be adjusted. Some of these will be impossible to use in the workplace but others you can still use. Others are best used at home. If humidity impacts your ability to use any of these, get a dehumidifier if that's an option, or use more ice instead of evaporation.
Also keep in mind that the skinnier you are, the faster these will work. More fat means more insulation, means more heat, so you may need to be more patient with some of these or use them in combination.
Bringing this back for my dying mutuals
are you “adaptable” or are you just willing to subject yourself to existing in low key background-level ambient misery
these are different things btw. actual adaptability means not dealing with being miserable long term. and being constantly mildly annoyed/frustrated with a situation but being “able to deal with it” counts as ambient misery. btw.
let this be your sign to make your life just a little more livable. get a dollar store trash can for your bedside so Cup City’s invasion plans fall through. block a tag or post that makes you grind your teeth every time you see it. get some grip pads so your bed stops sliding across the hardwood a little bit every time you get in it. tell that person you need a little more support. if you get annoyed at a situation more than a couple times, change it. don’t be content with being miserable.
and the more that you start doing this, the better you will get at detecting your own feelings and advocating for yourself! This is an important start to being more of a person in the world if you struggle with that
I feel like someone is standing next to me talking about how I'm dead
The chemical they put on ants and all the other ants think they're dead that's what happened to tumblr except the chemical is unmarketability
tumblr may have censored porn but check this out
i hope Elon musk KILLS himself and DIES a thousand DEATHS. and i hope every other billionaire a very merry DIE DIE DEATH KILL MURDER DEATH KILL
OMG I CAN HAZ TUMBLR
so yea, i made a blog and now i need to post stuff XD
omg finally
i’m going to blow up everything forever.
I think about this like once a day
I have heard a variant on it that I really like: "You cannot hate yourself into someone you can love."
you should not be allowed to play carry on my wayward son on other tv shows
I believe authors should be cryptic and unhelpful in the interpretation of their own work or even act like they’re dead and never comment on it ever
Visa is embedding its payment network into ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to shop and complete transactions for users.
Visa said Wednesday that it has embedded its payment network inside of ChatGPT, empowering the chatbot to independently shop and complete transactions on behalf of its user. It means AI agents can not only recommend products but complete the purchase on the user’s behalf, at potentially any merchant that accepts Visa. The payment network’s previous attempts at this technological leap were confined to a single retailer or a small set of enrolled merchants.
Ahhahhahahahhahahahahahhahhaaa.. *deep breath*
AHHHAHAHHAHHAAAA..!!
No
To be clear: simply having a Visa card isn't a risk for you. Not yet, anyway. You'll have to intentionally link your account to ChatGPT, then go shopping with the chatbot. If you don't do that, you're safe.
Dunno what stupidity they're planning next, but for now? ChatGPT isn't going to rack up $1000 of cat toys without your knowledge unless you're an active ChatGPT user.
This is so insane because like... I get paid to test AI for various companies (yeah yeah the system makes class traitors of us all). And I gotta say... it's so blisteringly obvious that we are not at a place where this won't go badly (for users) yet. A few weeks ago I watched a major model experience what I can only describe as a total manic hallucinatory episode because it had to describe character from an obscure mascot company that doesn't have much of an English language presence online and like, of the 100 or so characters it named and described, less than 10% actually existed. And this is a mascot company. Like, Sanrio style. Those characters exist PURELY to be purchased in tchotchke/phone charm form and be broadly marketable and purchasable. It is, by a wide margin, the worst I've ever seen a model fail since I started this job. This is gonna fuck non-English markets so fast.
We also recently had a project specifically about a model helping with shopping and like... it did OK? Usually? Like... the failure rate for factuality was pretty normal for these projects but uh... that's still not great? That's still 5-15% of tasks that I reviewed having errors that would cause it to recommend an inappropriate product for the users needs.
Now, maybe the latest ChatGPT is much MUCH more reliable than the models we were training and reviewing. I don't use AI outside of work (on account of I hate it for ideological reasons) so it's hard to say but still... I doubt its developers have figured out how to make it drop that 5-15 to zero given how good at slipping lies that will still get them rewarded for doing a good job past testers the models I HAVE used are. Visa almost certainly knows this is going to poorly for a not insignificant number of users, they just did the math and figured out that the benefits to them will outweigh those costs.
Ding. That's it exactly. They're rushing to monetize their agents before the whole house of lies collapses. Even if the models aren't ready.
I mean, ChatGPT still can't do math or date calculations reliably. Those are kinda important for e-commerce.
Companies that rushed to replace human labor with AI are now shelling out to have IRL workers to fix the technology's screwups.
Delicious. We love to see it.
@ralfmaximus
Ultimately, she spent 20 hours redoing the copy from scratch — and with her $100-per-hour rate, that meant her client was shelling out $2,000 for copy that likely would have ended up being far cheaper had a human just written it in the first place.
I love stories like this.

I have been telling people for years that the company behind Pokemon Go had no-shit, for-realsies ties to the CIA and people never really took it that seriously. Anyway.
