I could never see Rowen or Delos calling themself 'cutesy' so this will have to be in the more metaphorical sense.

Alaris makes the most sense, he definitely thinks that he's a dead man walking since he's a fugitive, and would definitely agree that he is cutesy despite that.

I feel like this is something Alaris would say/do. He's really my only academic other than Delos (who was in one of the first classes of formal academia) but that doesn't mean he gets it by default, this is still something I can see for him.

Would love it if the paper that Alaris was critiquing was one of Delos' old papers, but they didn't really have the same fields.

Rowen fits this pretty well.

At some point, almost 100 years after they became what they are today, Rowen realized that the human body they were in was no longer alive. The heart no longer beat, blood no longer pumped through it's veins. Lungs moved in and out on muscle memory alone, providing oxygen only to the endless fire that burned inside them.

The night they died was no different from any other and the morning after was the same as the previous one. Times change and Rowen remains the same.

Just thinking about how it applies to Rowen and Delos.

Rowen lost the determination, curiosity, invention, and will to live that comes with being human. I don't think they're quite at the level of 'concept' yet but is definitely up there. They're coming closer to being fully non-human every day that they watch the world go by.

Delos is not quite as old as Rowen but has definitely been stripped of a few core human elements. Compassion, respect, and self-sacrifice are not really in his vocabulary anymore, neither is control/restraint (although their logical mind still understands when actions are better not taken). He's going to lose himself at a faster rate than Rowen is due to their respective situations being different, but he loses more humanity every time he chooses himself and his endless pursuit of knowledge over looking after his friends.

Him and Siral are really my only knight-like characters, and while Siral is definitely not hinged, per se, I wouldn't go so far as to call him unstable.

Alvar, on the other hand, has a hair trigger when it comes to Riina and knows how to use his sword to cause maximum pain before death. If Riina reports you to her knight, you won't be making it out intact.

Delos. Yeah, he's just a guy walking around but people keep filing 'suspicious person' reports on him.

Maybe because he doesn't look like a person from all angles, but that's just hearsay.

Any package Alaris sends, no matter what it is supposed to contain, turns into a glitter bomb just because he is the one who packaged it.

If someone tries to send him a glitter bomb, on the other hand, he would think that it is a normal care package. Siral sends him glitter bombs (affectionate). Zarton sends him glitter bombs (derogatory) and Alaris sends Zarton back a “Thanks but I’m already seeing someone” glitter bomb in return.

At the time of writing this (July 2026), Arley is my newest OC and was made just over a year ago (April 2025).

I really don't like making new OCs unless it's absolutely necessary for a situation or I realize that there's a critical character/dynamic missing that could benefit from the new person's introduction to the plot.

I guess one could say that Xiphium and Echinops are more recent additions since I just started developing them in earnest (May 2026) but I've had their characters in my mind for years now without actually using them in any plot or storyline work.

Give your setting a secret. What happened there years ago that the landscape still refuses to forget?

I don't think I've ever shared the actual setting map on here, but there's a location off the north-west coast of the Airet Federation called "Makone Bay." This oddly-shaped coastline was formed when a chunk was taken out of the shore by a battle between powerful magicians approximately one thousand years ago. The empty space filled in with water and the removed land was launched up the coast to become the island known as K'yandor.

The land happens to be the location of the University of Magic. This may or may not be related (it is) to the violent nature of it's separation from the mainland.

Delos presents masc and uses he/they pronouns because I (irl) and Delos (in-universe) both think it's easier than explaining all the time, but if given the option, they would absolutely rather just pick No Gender.

Once you don't have any flesh or organs left, it's a bit of a moot point anyway, isn't it?
