What the heck! As of this reblog, this comic has 21 notes. Apparently a little reblog chain happened, but I don’t really remember noticing. Much higher numbers than my usual 0 or 1. My first taste of success, and I totally missed it!

Have you considered Rochester NY? It's Great Lakes, and upstate NY is the place where New England culture shifts into Midwestern culture.

It's a good size, got a long history, and a lot of really interesting concentrations of ethnic communities, so you've got that vibrant multicultural blend that's so often part of the fun for urban fantasy, but it's not overexposed.

actually if I knew it was for this, I would NOT have suggested Detroit, because for a stand-alone urban fantasy it’s great but in an entire World of Darkness you would expect Detroit to have a buuuuuuunch of other shit going on (not that you would be beholden to it in any way, but they had a bit about Detroit in the final Promethean supplement, and it was “the city where literally every single thing in the supernatural world is going bad at once”. The Forsaken and the Pure have to work together because if either side looks away long enough to try and kill each other, the spirit world is going to rip open like a garbage bag full of rotting beef.)

I would maybe go with Rochester, or Milwaukee, and if the latter I would not be able to stop myself from going way too hard on the accent. I would go Full Yooper even though it isn’t accurate.

As someone from the midwest I should remind you there are cities outside of Chicago in Illinois, like Aurora and Naperville (which are right next to each other, in the suburbs.)
