Don’t really know how to make it any clearer why I hate Thor Ragnarok. For those who believe Loki is nothing but a greasy, piece of shit asshole that deserves everything he gets, fine. Here’s your movie. I happen to think his fate is punishment enough, both for him and those who love him. No amount of denial can make these words go away, and I can’t just ignore it or pretend that that’s okay because Loki smiled and looked good in his suit. And, since when did reacting to people and things that hurt you with tears, anger and hate automatically make you a “tortured goth”?? Waititi doesn’t have a clue about Loki, and it’s obvious where his priorities were during the making of the movie.
waititi: wants to make a commentary on colonialism
also waititi: humiliates the victim of asgardian colonialism
Waititi: Thor movies should explore the ramifications of Asgardian imperialism
Thor 1: Gives a complex, sensitive portrait of a stolen child raised in ignorance of his heritage who suffers a mental breakdown from internalized racism when he finds out who he is and tries to prove his worth by going farther in the genocidal oppression of his people than any other Asgardian
Waititi: No, not like that
Waititi: It’s all just sort of boring. Rich kid problems, ya know?
Also Waititi: kills the majority of named Asgardian characters who aren’t royalty faster than you can blink
#shove your respectful disrespect up your ass#i felt thoroughly mocked for the entire runtime#respectful disrespect is shit like the tick or venture brothers#not thor ragnarok#i wish there was a corresponding set of all the awful stuff he said about thor too#just because recreating thor was the only thing he seemed to care about#doesn’t mean he did a good job with that either#yeah let’s laugh at the trauma of losing mjolnir or being forcible shaven#being attached to a hammer is silly#hair being symbolic of anything is silly#this entire franchise is just silly and that’s why it needs rehauled in a way that makes fun of it at every turn
@pyrebomb, I’ve seen an article that collects a bunch of the awful things Waititi said about all aspects of the franchise. I saved a Tumblr post with the link in my drafts folder a long-ass time ago and I’ve been meaning to expand the post with a list of the awful quotes, but I haven’t gotten around to it because of real life happening (and also consideration for my mental health).
me @ Ragnarok
I’m not going to tag this one as “Ragnarok critical” like usual because…honestly they’re Waititi’s own words.
“Here’s the thing about me guys, I did not really do my research. I read one issue of Thor as my research. Not even a graphic novel, one of the thin, thin ones. And by the end of it I was like, well we’re not doing that, let’s not really look at those anymore. Cool art, I love the art but I can’t stand the way everyone talks.”-Taika Waititi
“When you look at comic book characters we don’t have anything in common with them, especially not with this rich kid space Viking or this bipolar, angry green beast. So you’ve got to bring them into situations that all of us have been in, we’ve all been annoyed about our behavior and felt guilt about that.”-Taika Waititi
“I wasn’t really that keen on what Asgard looks like. Seems like quite a privileged place to live. It’s completely made of gold, it’s just full of nerds and scholars. Doesn’t seem like a party town, doesn’t seem like my kind of party town. Seems like a lot of people wandering around in robes holding books and talking about lofty ideas. Which is fine, but I don’t want to live on an entire world like that. I’d like to at least think there’s some Asgardian nightclubs but I’ve never seen any in any of the movies. It’s too gilded, it’s too sparkly.” -Taika Waititi
As an artist, his confession he didn’t do any goddamn research PISSES ME OFF. Do you know how many of the other actors read the comic books so that they would know the characters? This screams unprofessionalism. This fucker thinks so highly of himself that he believes his one movie is better than any movie that’s come before him. Why was he hired? Why is he hired again? I swear y’all, art is dying because the execs only want to make a quick buck.
Also, does he not seem like the most shallow person ever? What kind of 90’s bully bullshit is he talking about with “nerds” walking around looking at books. I swear y’all, that quote makes me think of Gaston when he picks up Belle’s book and goes “there’s no pictures. How can you even read this?” Thats the vibe I’m getting from this. He believes he’s so mighty but he seems like one of the most arrogant and shallow people ever. I would hate to work with him. I hope his career is over when people realize just how fucking idiotic this moron is.
You know why this movie sucks? Because it was made out of hate and jealousy. It was made out of ignorance and selfishness and arrogance. There was not one shred of love put into this movie.
My, what excellent tea.
Me when it comes to Taika’s feelings:
To all those people who think that we’re being unnecessarily negative and hateful towards Taika Waititi or Chris Hemsworth, please read all of the posts above.
This is why we don’t want Loki in Thor 4.
Oooh… that’s painful to read. And I’m guessing he didn’t watch TDW either ‘cause there’s a damn good tavern in there. Now I know his sense of humour is to take the piss out of everything and make jokes by pretending he is the best at everything, but that just wears me down. As this just makes me sad. I happen to like nerds and scholars and books, you dick.
help my bf survive
hi, my boyfriend recently moved from wales to england for university at the start of this school year. his abusive family has cut him off after moving out due to him being gay.
he has been looking for jobs and is continuing to do so, but living is very hard, and with student finances as well as simple necessities like food and shampoo to buy, he has less than 5 pounds currently in his bank account.
i’m going to be helping him out as much as i can seeing as i have a part time minimum wage job and i live with a parent, but seeing as i don’t come from a particularly wealthy place, my help can only go so far.
any financial help is appreciated as well as signal boosting. thank you so much.

Emotional and kind-hearted male superheroes? What is that?
Ready for a useless post? Here’s my controversial thoughts on mcu characters!
Tony: I don’t care. I just super don’t care. Also he’s not Peters father he’s just his mentor and he does that half-heartedly.
Rhodey: I have conflicting feelings on Rhodey. On the one hand he’s great but on the other he IS A Tony Apologist
Pepper: She’s not a feminist character. She’s literally just the Competent Woman Trope that marvel loves so much. Also, we all hate Tony for selling those weapons for so long, it’s time we take a good look at ourselves and recognize that Pepper willingly worked for Stark Industries (and Tony Stark personally) during this time and that she also… isn’t great.
Steve: don’t like him. I don’t believe any one person should be judge jury and executioner. He’s a hypocrite. Don’t Like how he decides that civilian casualties are the price he’s willing to pay, but the second someone he likes is willing to die to save literally half the universe he “doesn’t trade lives” (but still asks the Wakandan soldiers to die for his friend)
Clint: he’s so boring and inexplicably fills me with rage
Nat: She’s not even a character at this point. She literally exists to move the plot along for male characters and get the writers feminist brownie points. I’m really uncomfortable with people calling her a lesbian since she was created solely for male gaze and has no personality or personal motivation.
Wanda: no character that is a white washed version of one of the most well known Jewish Romani characters in comics can be a feminist icon. She also willingly volunteered for HYDRA and has never shown any remorse for that so like. Bad.
Vision: he’s boring and he sucks. The fact that we were supposed to want him to live in infinity war baffles me.
Bucky: isn’t even a character. Exists solely to move along Captain America plots. The only reason he’s so popular is because he’s an white man you can ship with steve
Sam: isn’t a therapist for any of the Avengers! Also he helped Steve and Nat because he’s a good person, not because Steve is hot. He can do better than Steve
Dr. Strange: they tried to recreate the Tony Stark but did it worse. Frustrating and selfish and I can’t believe he had Jesus Imagery in his movie. I’m not even Catholic but that’s so messy.
Thor: he’s so good I love him so much. I think that if he hugged me that would solve all my problems. He has Big Dad Energy. Also, him and Bruce don’t have any chemistry they’re just awkward work friends.
Bruce: he’s not that compelling of a character on his own. Getting that good old 2012 Clint treatment where to make him interesting people are projecting stuff from other canons on to him.
Valkyrie: isn’t an “I’m not like other girls” replacement for Jane. Is genuinely one of the most well written female characters in the MCU. Has a great character arc. Is more than just the Thor//bruce wingman. Is actually Thor’s canon love interest.
Loki: not only was he in character in ragnarok, ragnarok is the only movie that managed to pull together the different characterizations that he ping-ponged between in Thor 1, Avengers, and Thor 2, and make something coherent. Just because he wasn’t an angsty sad boy doesn’t mean he wasn’t well written.
GOTG version!
Peter: Stop blaming him for Infinity War. So many people fucked up in infinity war. Blame Thanos.
Gamora: I don’t like when she’s framed as the group mother. She has her own stuff she needs to deal with before she can be expected to be the mother of her team of mostly adult men. She also… shouldn’t be expected to be the mother to a team of mostly adult men. She’s the moral compass of the Guardians.
Nebula: She was the first well written female character in the mcu. She had a clear motivation outside of the motivations of the male characters around her. The most logical conclusion for her character arc is for her to get to kill Thanos and then to join the guardians, which is why it upsets me that she’s probably just gonna die helping the Avengers. Also: LESBIAN ICON
Mantis: Stop treating her as a tool for your favorite man’s angst. She exists to do more than touch a man and go “he… Sad!”. I hope she gets a better characterization in future movies because her characterization in gotg vol 2 involved quite a few asian stereotypes that.
Drax: he’s… okay but his treatment of Mantis was really shitty
Rocket: fun little guy! He’s valid
Groot: oh this little tree lad… who could hate him? Chopped off his own arm for Thor so you know he’s valid
Thor chracters (not previously mentioned):
Heimdall: Thor straight up called him his best friend so I’m gonna go out and say that he WASN’T a father figure for Thor and Loki, he’s just straight up a great guy and a patient friend. Should be king or at least a major part of the asgardian government.
The warriors three: RIP
Sif: She’s cool. Pretty like… “we think we’re writing a feminist character but were just writing a Not Like Other Girls” character though
Jane: just because she was a scientist doesn’t mean she was actually a feminist character. She literally was just like… a self insert for any girl who thought she was a Smart Girl Not Like Other Girls. What are her personal goals? What motivates her? What does she want from life?
Darcy: literally a self insert for any girl who thinks she’s quirky. Which is apparently… a lot considering the amount of fanfic of her and Bland Hot White Boy Of The Day
Odin: I mean we all agree Odin sucks but let me say it again… Odin Sucks
Frigga: not exactly a saint since she sat back and let Odin do All That to his kids
Ant-man version! Note: I have not seen either movie
Scott Ant-man himself: is more valid than any of the Avengers (excluding thor) combined.
Hope: She seems neat. I didn’t watch the first movie cuz I hated how much she just seemed like Competent Woman but from what I’ve heard of the second movie… they gave her depth so she’s good now
Ava: again I have not seen the movies but… We Stan! I’ll die for her
Hank: bastard.
Janet: sucks that they did one of the original Avengers so dirty :/
Black Panther!
T'Challa: you all think he’s friends with Steve which is so sad… he has standards. Also, he knows what jokes are. He literally has SUCH older brother vibes like the writers really understood how siblings are. One of the few mcu characters driven by empathy and a genuine want for unselfish justice. Lesbian Icon.
Shuri: I’ve made a post about this so I’ll just summarize it: she’s more than memes.
Okoye: She’s not a lesbian, but she is a bi icon. Literally the only examples of a character that is truly Lawful Good. She probably has a sisterly relationship with Shuri, and I think her and T'Challa have a very playful friendship.
Nakia: the point of Black Panther is that Nakia Was Right.
Killmonger: see above. The most sympathetic antagonist in the mcu.
Ramonda: this isn’t controversial cuz I don’t actually see a lot of Ramonda opinions but I think she’s a somewhat strict but loving mother. Her children never feel afraid to come to her with their problems, but they also know that she won’t tolerate them being any less than their best selves. She’s a lot less strict with Shuri than she was with T'Challa.
M'Baku: I think everyone likes M'Baku. Which is as it should be. He’s a valid guy. Genuinely just a good dude. I don’t think he has more chemistry with T'Challa than Nakia does though.
can’t stop thinking about Thos Husbands…………………..yall know the first thing i do in any fanart is make em peace sign So
