We are “salty” because they are making a novel little game out of the femininity that oppresses us. It’s not a joke, feminity is not fun. It’s expensive, time-consuming, often painful, and oppressive for women. People can enjoy being feminine, but they need to stop pretending it’s harmless. Males can opt out at any time, women can’t, lest we be ostrisized and suffer the consequences of not adhering to the “feminine” stereotype.

Men can wear makeup, but they aren’t denied promotions or respect in the workplace or seen as “letting themselves go” when they don’t wear it.

Men can wear high heels, but they aren’t required to wear them constantly to “look professional” or sexy, in the mean time ruining their leg/back muscles because they have the option to take them off.

Men can wear shapewear, but they aren’t expected to be perfectly squeezed and shaped 24/7, damaging organs and lung capacity.

And when men get boob-jobs are use them as a sexy accessory, they are perpetuating the bullshit that breasts are purely sexual, to be oogled and looked at. Breasts are for women to feed their children, not masterbation fodder for men.

Men can opt out of this nonsense with ZERO repercussions. Women can’t. There is a difference. Appropriation of our oppression isn’t cute or trendy. It’s tone-deaf and sexist.

I'm convinced that half of the scaremongering around aging (everything hurts, everything upsets my stomach, etc) has nothing to do with age and everything to do with lifestyle.

I'm sure some of it legit, because aging is a real thing. But not all of it. Especially not when it's coming from people in their late 20s and 30s.

Drinking is a fantastic example. On the one hand, your alcohol tolerance decreases with age. That's a scientific fast - younger people metabolize alcohol faster. You know what else decreases your alcohol tolerance? Not drinking. When people are like, "Oh, I can't drink like I did in college anymore, now two glasses of wine gives me a hangover." That's not because you're 32, it's because you're not binge-drinking four days a week anymore.

"Everything hurts and my back hurts and my joints crack." For most of your life, you had mandatory physical activity scheduled five days a week. Then, in college, you had to hike across campus and back several days a week and you spent the weekends playing disc golf and going out dancing with your friends. Plus you probably worked as a barista or a waiter or a stocker or something else that kept you on your feet and moving. Then you graduated and slam-cut to a life where you only get up from one chair to walk to another chair. Of course you hurt.

"I can't pull all nighters like I did in college, I can't function." You couldn't function then, either. You just ignored it, because you felt like those all-nighters were worth it. In your current life, all-nighters are rarely worth it. It's not that much harder on you, you're just more aware of it.

"I can't eat like I did when I was a teenager, it makes me feel like crap." It made you feel like crap then, too. You just didn't have anything to compare it to, because you ate garbage all the time. Now that you know what it feels like to not eat garbage, you're more aware of how bad it feels to eat garbage.

"I can't dance all night like I did when I was young, I get so sore the next day." This is just a poor memory. You were sore the next day back then, too. I was sore after a night of dancing at my eighth grade formal, when I was 14 years old. Dancing all night in heels is gonna make you sore.

Someone needs to get across to trans kids that obsessing over how everyone perceives you is not healthy.

You don't have to appear more or less masculine/feminine than you are. You should be picking hairstyles and clothes and styles that you like and not obsessing over if it'll make people clock you or perceive you differently. You shouldn't be obsessing over movements and gestures. You should be free. Unlearn your self-hatred! Stop trying to perform gender!

I love this. I posted a little about this before, but wanted to expand. Women's history fact of the day:

Women of the Neolithic era in particular loved keeping pets and it was common for them to trap small animals - such as cats - and adopted as pets.

In the Amazon region, where hunting and gathering and subsistence horticulture is still practiced by a handful of surviving Amerindian groups, hunters commonly capture young wild animals and take them home where they are then adopted as pets, usually – although not invariably – by women.

There's a theory that cats may have domesticated themselves by being attracted to human villages that produced grain and seeds and attracted rodents, and then the bolder cat clans survived under natural selection. Or, alternatively, women domesticated cats.

Based on these sorts of observations, it could be argued that the domestication of F.s. libyca occurred where and when it did because tamed wildcats were already an integral feature of village life as a result of people actively adopting, hand-rearing and socialising young wildcats to keep as pets

The relationship between cats and women stretch back since the stone age.
