Harper was adopted by a circus troupe, along with a rabbit and fox toon. They became super close, and all showed interest in becoming acrobats. The Ringmaster, their adoptive father, allowed them to do so, always careful not to push them too hard. He knew that they would get hurt enough from the criticism of working in the performing industry and he didnāt want to add to that weight. Once they did a performance on a parade float, where they did a disappearing act after doing some tricks. Each of the three have their own specialties, the rabbit being able to contort himself in shocking ways, Harper able to fling herself in the air and flip in an array of different patterns, and the fox with being able to find his way out of almost everything.
They each received criticisms that hurt them. The rabbit gained criticism on how feminine he looked, and was told to man up. The fox was told that he was a cheater, and that he couldnāt actually do these remarkable feats he did everyday. Harper made the whole crowd nervous, and they tended to ignore her, making her think she had to work twice as hard just to be seen just a little. The Ringmaster and the rest of the troupe tried their best to shield the trio from the cutting words, but they were not gods.Ā
When the trio became adults, someone new came to join the circus. The Ringmaster was getting on in years, and intended on looking for a successor. Enter, Timothy. He was immediately welcomed and liked within the troupe, admired for his charm and leadership qualities. Everyone agreed, he was an excellent choice for Ringmaster. And you can only imagine the Ringmasterās excitement when his daughter became interested in the new arrival! The two hit it off immediately, never running out of things to talk about. Routines, equipment, practices, cars, ice cream, they could talk forever and neither would get bored. The rabbit and the fox were thrilled that Harper had found someone special, and congratulated her effusively. But of course, nothing good can last forever. The Ringmaster died of old age, leaving the circus in Timothyās care. The troupe, of course, was devastated, but helped Timothy figure out how to run the show. The trio were crushed, having lost their father and all, but brushed themselves off and kept going. Over the years, they had steeled themselves from the criticism of the world, and their Baba had prepared them for this day. He would have wanted them to be happy for the times they had. So they kept going. However, toons became more and more uncomfortable with Harperās identity. She wasnāt a kid anymore, and was seen less as a cute little girl with horns and hooves and more as a demon.Ā
And thatās when the disappearances started.
At first it was men who would throw rotten fruit and lead pipes at her from the stands. They wouldnāt show up to shows anymore, and when they would go to town they would appear on missing posters. Then it was the women who whispered when Harper walked past. Then it was the children who would scream for their mothers when she was seen. With each disappearance, the toons came to fear Harper more and more. She had to be responsible for these disappearances, she was a demon after all. Harper, however, didnāt understand what was going on. She fearfully told the rabbit and the fox that something was horribly wrong. When she told Timothy how worried she was, he told her not to worry about it.Ā
They moved towns that week.Ā
In the new town, business went on as usual. There werenāt any strange disappearances, which the whole troupe was thankful for. And, to top it all off, Harper and Timothy became engaged! Everyone was thrilled, running around in excitement, preparing for the big day. The rabbit and the fox, however, were nervous. They knew something was off, with the disappearing toons. The vanishings only stopped once Harper had expressed her concerns to Timothy, and the two were connecting the dots. They told Harper about their concerns, but she didnāt understand what they were saying. So the wedding went on as planned.Ā
They traveled to a new town after this, for a change of scenery. This would be the last town the circus would go to. Timothy knew that someone in the troupe was onto him, he just didnāt know who. So he got to work.Ā
People in the troupe started dying. Harper had no idea what this could possibly be. She thought it was someone trying to get at her, a message telling her to get lost. She became irritable, and angry, and snapped at people.
The fox and the rabbit knew their time was running out. They tried to tell Harper of what her husband had done, but it was too late. They were gone.Ā
Harper was devastated. Not a single member of her beloved troupe had survived. It was just her and Timothy now. And then, a ray of light shined through the gloom. Harper was pregnant. She had a tiny little creature growing inside of her. She had something to live for other than him. She was even starting to doubt him. What was it that they once had said? That he couldnāt be trusted? She didnāt think too much about that. It distracted her from thinking about other things.Ā
Timothy was excited as well. Not only was he gonna finally have a child, Harper was happy, even though heād killed her brothers. They spent hours talking about the baby, pondering of its name and such. Harper lovingly called the thing growing inside her junebug. It felt like everything was finally going right. When he was born, they named him Angel.Ā
And everything took a turn for the worse.Ā
Timothy found he hated the thing. It took up all of Harperās attention, leaving him to be forgotten. Not to mention that it didnāt seem to like its own father very much. Whenever he tried to hold it or pick it up, the thing burst into tears. It was so loud, always wailing, making any kind of noise it could. It always stank, pooping or vomiting, making any kind of mess it could. It couldnāt even walk! And yet, Harper adored it. She spent every waking hour cooing over it, singing to it, holding it when she couldāve, shouldāve been holding, singing, laughing with Timothy. It was taking her away from him.Ā
From the very moment she saw him, Harper knew that she would die for her Angel. She held him so carefully, worried she might break him. She couldnāt get enough of his tiny nose, how his chubby little hand squeezed her finger, how he opened his mouth wide in what must be a smile when he saw her. She thanked the celestials everyday that they allowed her to have him in her life.
Finally, he had had enough. Timothy had to get rid of it. He had dealt with this thing for two years now, and it hadnāt gotten any better. Before at least it couldnāt talk, but now it rambled on endlessly. Timothy couldnāt even understand what it was even saying most of the time! It was time to get rid of it.Ā
When she woke up to feed Angel, she found him with a knife in his chest. Timothy standing over the crib. Her husband turned, and looked at her. He said nothing. And that was the last thing she remembered before the world went dark.
There were people on the grounds. Harper could sense them. They would come every once in a while, searching for directions or food. The town surrounding the circus had long since been abandoned, and every traveler ended up in the circus at some point. It didnāt matter. By the end of the day, Timothy would take care of them. So there she sat, locked into her chair, staring at nothing. But this time was different. This time the people actually came into their home. They spoke to her. And she realized she did have something to fight for. She could fight to defeat him. She could fight to save innocent people from a horrible, wrongly timed death. So she coaxed the newcomers into letting her out. She made them run. Then she enacted her revenge. For the rabbit. For the fox. For Angel. For all of her troupe members who had trusted him. For the Ringmaster. And as she watched his life essence leak out of him, staining her hands her legs her dress her mouth her teeth she smiled and she smiled and she smiled and finally finally finally she couldĀ

She took some of the fox and the rabbitās old clothes and ventured out into the world. The newcomers let her ankles and forearms free, but she had jumped out of the chair before they could free her hands and neck. She stumbled out into the world, and wandered aimlessly. She only ate when she remembered she had to. She only slept when she fell to the ground in exhaustion. Harper trudged aimlessly around, somehow staying one step ahead of the Searchers.Ā
Then she came across a field of ash. There used to be houses, and businesses, but now everything was gone. She searched through the wreckage for survivors, and only found one tiny tiger cub. He was crying when she found him, and when she came close he shuffled away from her fearfully. She ran into the woods and caught a squirrel for him, but he didnāt eat it. After putting another animal in front of him, she tried offering him wild blackberries. The tiger cub gobbled them up joyously. After he finished, he sat back and stared at her nervously. She stared back at him. She slowly stood, and backed away. She found a stream in the forest and collected water in a leaf she found, and carried it back to the tiger cub. He lapped it up carefully, somehow staying he didnāt waste a bit of it. He ran his tongue over his muzzle as he stared at Harper, his knees to his chest, hugging them close. Harper cocked her head, and he mirrored her. She felt a warmth fill her chest as she looked at the tiger cub. He was scared, and alone, and vulnerable, and she could fix that. She could help him. So she found him some new clothes to replace his old and burnt ones, and found some flowers for him. While he ate or drank she would make flower crowns, weaving together daisies or buttercups or violets or forget-me-nots or daffodils and she would gently, slowly, carefully place the crown on his head. Eventually, he allowed her to touch him, and hold him, and he would snuggle into her at night while the Searchers screamed. Then they left the forgotten village, and went out into the world together.
Harper knew Richard Parker had the Blot. She could smell the ink festering in his veins. She kept a close eye on him, and tried her best to avoid any irritation. And she searched for D.I.P. This illegal substance could relieve Richard Parker from attacks for a little while. But. It was illegal. Harper searched luggage found on the side of the road for the covetedĀ Ā substance. When she did find a bottle, she hid it within her coat, saving it for when it was needed most.Ā
Whenever Richard Parker had an episode, he was strangled by his stripes. Ink bubbled up, covering his eyes, his nose. He couldnāt breathe, he couldnāt see, and he felt as if he would die. He felt closer than ever to become one of the searchers that haunted the night. Harper knew this. Then she had an idea.Ā
Nobody had heard from Dandy, the Star of Healthcare, for years. But she knew he was in charge of the trains, or his advisor was, and if she just followed the tracks she was sure she could find him.Ā
When Harper and Richard Parker finally made it to Gardenview, they were being pursued by Searchers. Harper set Richard Parker down near the entrance, and did her best to fight them off, beating the things with a lead pipe. When the great doors finally opened, four toons ran out. Harper picked Richard Parker up and held him close. When the Searchers were dealt with, Harper and Richard Parker were taken inside, where they met Dandy. He agreed to let them stay, and give D.I.P for Richard Parker, if Harper allowed him to take samples of her DNA and if she protected Gardenview from intruders. She agreed.Ā

I would say around maybe freshman year when cuphead needed to figure out who his friends were gonna be, he started hanging aroundā¦ a more rougher crowd to say the least. YOU KNOW ~ that annoying and insufferable group of teenage boys down the hallway that wrestle and yell when youāre just trying to get to class? Yep. ļæ¼
