[TRIGGER WARNING: sexual violence, christopher columbus, poverty, substance abuse, unpopular opinion] I want so much G O O D to happen for the women and girls that Daniel Holtzclaw terrorized and victimized!!!! I hope the memories trapped in their minds and bodies do not hold them captive like an inmate! I am still not sure how to process this conviction and sentence because rape survivors do not usually see convictions like this or at all! Black women do not usually see this type of conviction or sentencing! Might PD's nationally be interested in anti-victim blaming training now. Below are my opinions and thoughts and prayers. I am victim centered and believe in the reality and power of sex offender treatment. I have been a victim advocate for over a decade and have served as such on a sex offender supervision unit. I do not know all things, but I do know some things! This conviction, these women and children he victimized and our thoughts and reactions are complicated and complex. As a survivor of sexual violence I sincerely pray that Daniel Holtzclaw is not raped in prison or takes his own life. I wish that on NO ONE! My prayer is that he LIVE & NOT DIE (psalm 118:17) and not only surrender to Yahweh but that he surrender his pride & denial of these terrorist attacks! He indeed terrorized that neighborhood and every Black woman and girl in that neighborhood. He doesn't have to rape all those woman and girls to have terrorized them all - what he did to several was enough to localize fear, terror,and flashbacks to the remainder of that community! He contributed to the anxiety, mental unhealthiness, substance abuse and poverty of that neighborhood!!! He is a modern day christopher columbus!!! Yuuuuck his behavior sickens me and yet I want him to live this sentence out I want him to take full responsibility eventually and be accountable sincerely! I want that community to receive reparations from that police department via funding to a CBO (community based org)! I need the survivors to receive reparations beyond victim compensation via Office of Victim Services (OVS monies are earmarked for certain things) that they can use however they like. I want Holtzclaw to recognize and take responsibility for his own internalized oppression as a biracial man with White privilege. I want the entire Oklahoma City Law Enforcement departments to be completely combed through and undone until they no longer buy into systematic and institutionalized oppression. I PRAY THAT THE SURVIVORS (I believe there are more than 13!!!!) Experience healing, justice, self love, that they are unleashed from the prison of self doubt, self blame and victim blaming! I PRAY that the survivors feel safe in their bodies one day! I pray PSALM 118:17 and Psalm 23 and Philippians 4 for them. I pray that they be surrounded by folks who want to see them healed. I don't speak for all Black women and I certainly do not speak on behalf of the Queens he terrorized, but I wanted to offer an additional lenses that we can view this trauma. #TAKESCOURAGE
